From: ninapie@NoSPAM-1821.ntcnet.com Subject: GH: UPDATE for Monday 4/20/98 Date: 28 Apr 1998 04:23:08 GMT General Hospital UPDATE for Monday April 20 1998-- PC Hotel-- Jerry, Jax and Daddy Jack "discuss" their differences. Seems the two boys have a history of them, and now they disagree on how to handle the current strike. Bren hugs Lady Jane who pulls no punches and asks flat out-- if Brenda could choose a life with Sonny or one with Jax, what what would be her decision? Our gal answers: Jax. She can see herself growing old with him. She admits that she's done a lot of growing up. Apparently that's peachy keen with Lady J. She interrupts the boys' argument to return the yacht piece to Brenda from the "Family game" (okay, I'm lost here). The elder Jaxes leave and Bren and Jax have a tete a tete. Bren makes it clear that she thinks Jer is a "player". I guess so, cause later we see Jer take a meeting on the docks with Mystery Guy, who threatens him and his brother if "business" does not take a turn for the better. "He's in the jailhouse now"--PC Jail Tony takes issue with how his lawyer's handling his case. Hey, just cause he kidnapped a few people don't mean he's crazy! His tough cookie of a lawyer tells him most folks won't see it that way, and he's looking at forty years with a couple of cellmates named Bubba and Bloodsucker. Tone stomps off to his cell as the cookie is met by Helena, who wants to have a word with her. We never see what their discussion is about, and the next time we see Hel, she's busy bullying Alexis (more on that later). When Tony and his lawyer meet again, Tone remains firm that he will not plead guilty or insanity. Instead his defense will be that he held the moral high ground. In face of the cookie's objections, Tony insists "my way or the highway". Bye-eee, his lawyer answers. Tony reacts by kicking things but thinks better of it when a burly c.o. gives him dirty looks. Instead, he asks for a phone--he needs to make a call. Alexis' apartment-- Alexis' face falls when she answers the door and sees Hel there (must have been expecting Ned). Hel's next assignment for Alexis is to get Tony Jones freed. No excuses. She won't touble to explain her reasons but manages once again to threaten the younger woman's life if Her Will is not done. The next visitor makes her much happier. Ned greets her with a big smooch. She's evasive when he asks about her trip. She manages to milk him for info on Tony's trial. Ned evinces disgust that anyone could kidnap a child, or defend such a one, and Alexis looks worried. Ned carries her to the bedroom. Alex wishes they could go some- place where there would be no demands, no worries. He promises her that they won't have to keep their relationship a secret much longer. Lovemaking ensues. Apres l'amour, Hel phones up and puts a damper on afterglow. She tells Alex to do her stuff by tomorrow. Alex tries to make the most of possibly her last night with Ned by indulging in more passionate lovemaking. The courthouse-- Bobbie pleads with Jason in the hallway to talk some sense to Robin, but he won't intervene. Meanwhile in the courtroom, Carly lays into Robin. Where does she get off defending Tony? He acts like the baby is his! Well, who first that idea in his head, Robin replies. The blame can be laid at Carly's door. She was the one who tricked him in the first place. Robin tells her that Michael's life is being built on a bed of lies. Carly responds that Robin is just jealous of her baby, since Robin and Jason can't make one of their own. Jason overhears this and is most displeased, giving an even stonier stone face than usual. Carly is instructed to lay off Robin, and Carly is snotty about him "taking Robin's side". But she follows him meekly enough when he orders her home with him. Bobbie gently reminds Robin, who wipes away a tear, of the terrible hurt Tony inflicted on so many of them. She urges the girl to rethink her testimony when's she's called again to the stand. Jason's place-- Carly is whooshed home to be reprimanded once again. He plays Michael Corleone to her Kaye--he is the boss. She must not question him--especially regarding his loyalty to Michael. And she must never try to turn him against Robin. That might be enough to have him send her packing. Carly to her credit is not completely cowed and reminds him that if she goes, Michael goes, too. Jason tells her not to force it to come to that. He leaves a humiliated Carly blinking back tears (and I can't believe that this is the second update in a row that I felt sorry for Carly!) Bobbie comes by and delicately questions her about Jason, but Carly swears that they're "just fine". The women get closer as Bobbie suggests that Lucas and Michael, along with their moms, all get together as a family. Back at the courthouse-- The Don swoops back after putting Carly in her place. Jason tries to understand Robin's explanations for defending Tony. But he can't--after all, Tony's a kidnapper. Well, Robin reasons, couldn't Jason himself be termed that, since he's keeping AJ's son away from him? As I marveled that Robin *finally* made this connection, she somehow managed to turn all the blame onto Carly anyway. Jason can't see the similarity between him and Tony, but it makes no difference anyway. Whatever happens to Tony, he claims, will happen. As Doris Day sang "Que sera, sera".
