From: judyomega@aol.com (JudyOmega) Subject: GH: Update Friday 4/17/98 Date: 22 Apr 1998 13:54:06 GMT Soap trials... I hate 'em... Especially when the proceedings and outcome are *so* predictable. Today, we have Tony's lawyer going for the "temporary insanity" plea, against Tony's wishes, and on the stand, it's Felicia and Robin vs Bobbie. And when I'm not suffering through the trial, I'm subjected to everyone *talking* about the trial.... over and over and over again.... At Alexis' apartment, Alexis' answering machine has picked up a call from Ned, who's welcoming her home. Alexis runs to pick up the phone, but Ned's already hung up. Helena walks in and asks about Ned. Alexis says that he's no one important. At the courtroom, Edward is gathering the Q's together, telling them that they need to synchronize their stories, and that no one need bring up that 'recent attempt to get Michael in the house.' He and Emily argue over semantics (she says 'kidnapping', he says 'extended family childcare', tomato, tomahto...). Robin enters and Emily asks if she's nervous and they chat about testifying. Bobbie and Dara enter and they talk about yesterday's day in court and Bobbie restates her disbelief at Filly testifying for Tony's character. At the PC Grille, Jason and Carly are laughing at the poor state of affairs at the hotel since the strike. If Edward doesn't give in, they say, they'll shut down the whole city. They discuss the trial and Tony's weak defense. Carly's sure Tony'll be making license plates for a long time, but Jason says that law is a business, and no outcome is pre-ordained. Meanwhile, Mac and Filly toast his reappointment as Police Commisioner. They chat about the trial and Filly leaves. Jerry enters the Grille and makes approving noises about Filly's physique and waxes rhapsodic about PC until Jax offers him some of the Grille's Really Bad Coffee (apparently, the Q's aren't the only ones who can't operate a coffee maker without union help...). Meanwhile, Jason and Carly rehash the trial *again*, and Carly hopes Robin's testimony'll put Tony away... Poppa and Jane Jacks enter with Brenda, and they exchange stares with Jason. Brenda asks Jason not to make things hard for Robin. They sit at a separate table and chat about Brenda's quest for Jax. At the trial, Reggie shows up with a picnic basket of breakfast for the Q's, and Emily tells Robin about the exploding microwave. Mac and Filly enter and chat with Robin about his new job. She congratulates him. Everyone assembles in the courtroom and Tony's brought in. Carly & Jason wish Robin luck: "Crucify him..." Carly says to Robin. "Just tell the truth" Jason adds. Filly testifies about how Tony decided to give Maxie BJ's heart, and that was a heroic decision. Dara insinuates that that was a sign that Tony's not insane. Robin takes the stand, and Dara asks the judge to regard Robin as a hostile witness, bringing looks of surprize from those in the courtroom... Back at Alexis': Helena asks about the kidnapping trial and asks if Alexis knows Tony. Alexis says Tony had wanted her to represent him in a custody hearing back when he thought the baby was his. Helena admires the way Tony took matters into his own hands. Alexis reminds her that Tony could get 40 years in prison for kidnapping. "I hope not..." says Helena as it would be a waste of good talent. Helena thanks Alexis for picking up her trunk in Greece and then tells her that Lucky Spencer is working for her now and he will pick it up. At the trial, Robin testifies that Tony wasn't thinking straight and didn't mean to hurt anyone; (she continues talking over Dara's objections...) and that he tried to 'save' Michael because he had lost BJ. The courtroom reacts, and the judge calls for order. The judge warns Robin that she's close to contempt. Dara has no further questions. Ms Huston (Tony's lawyer) asks Robin if Tony was emotionally distraught and Robin agrees that he was. Tony is clearly not pleased with Huston's line of questioning. Robin's testimony ends... Outside the courtroom, Justus asks Taggert to give a note to Dara. "Do it yourself", he replies. Justus asks if Taggert wants to see Tony behind bars or not. Taggert takes the note and delivers it as Dara calls Bobbie to the stand. Back at the grille, the Jacks parents agree that Jax belongs with Brenda and Poppa knows what to do: leave town so as not to interfere. Jerry and Jax (at a different table) discuss Jason. Jerry advises negotiation. Jax won't compromise. Jerry says that Jax hates Jason because of Brenda. Jax denies it, but says he'll never give in to the strikers... At the courthouse, Helena accosts Robin in the hall and asks about her testimony. Brenda walks in and Robin leaves without answering Helena. Bobbie testifies that she's afraid of Tony because he was ready to steal Lucas too. She goes on to say that Robin could've died from the pneumonia and that Robin is deceiving herself. Bobbie says she lost BJ too but not every parent that loses a child becomes a kidnapper and then proceeds to rant on and on about how Tony has no right to use BJ as an excuse until Tony's lawyer objects. "Finally," Tony says (as do I...). Dara is finished questioning Bobbie and Ms Huston asks if Tony had ever shown signs of becoming a kidnapper prior to that incident. Bobbie says "no". Tony is not happy that his lawyer is obviously pursuing an insanity defense and the trial is over for the day. When Tony is being led out, Helena reminds Tony that "she's still here". "Get me out of here," he replies. Helena calls Alexis on her cellphone and tells her to get Tony off. Filly and Robin exchange encouraging words. Robin apologizes to Mac, who says her testimony was okay, as long as it's the truth. Further down the hall, the Q's discuss suing Tony if he gets off, while Alan goes off to take a pill. Taggert sees him and sarcastically offers him water. Bobbie and Monica exchange supportive comments and Monica thanks Bobbie for her testimony. Back at the Grille, Poppa Jacks asks Jerry about the shooting and that he knows Jerry was really gunning for Jason. Jerry says Jax has no idea that was real agenda and if Jax stands in his way, he'll deal with him. "How?" says Jax, who's returned to the room... At the courtroom, Dara and Justus flirt briefly. Justus then tells Jason that Robin really hurt the case against Tony. Carly accosts Robin and asks her why she did it.... end of update... -Judy (The Cranky Half of the Twin Updaters of Different Fridays <g>)
