GETTING READY FOR THE BALL: UPDATE THURSDAY APRIL 2

The Signing of the Docks Contract is coming up, and our friends
are getting ready:

1.  Mike comes up to Luke at the jetty (I guess away from where
the festivities will be.)  Luke has no intention of going there.  He
tells Mike that Lucky is living elsewhere, and he wants Mike to
keep Helena away from her yacht while Luke does his thing on it.

Luke plants bugs under tables and things, but then he has to duck down
behind a table while Helena's "Man Friday" sets up the table.  Your
Fearless Updater was really disappointed that after the M.F. finished
setting the table, he didn't then say "OK, Mr. Spencer, you can come out
now."  Opportunity lost.

Helena is walking back toward the yacht and Mike steps out: "ROXY!"
He pulls out all the con-man stops, telling her how he's missed her,
and how sorry he is, but surely she will forgive him, and on and on.
"Roxy, it's me, MIKEY!"  "Do I LOOK like the sort of woman who would know
a 'Mikey??'"  Helena is intrigued in spite of herself.  Your Fearless
Updater, too.  "Let me make you happy."  "There are many definitions of
happiness."  "You define it, I'll do it."  Where does YFU sign up?

Lucky comes on the scene and Helena realizes they know each other.  Mike
beats a hasty exit, and Helena asks Lucky who that was.  Lucky tells her
Mike is Sonny's dad, and Luke's friend, and when Helena wonders what he
wanted, Lucky says Mike likes money--- and beautiful women.

Helena takes Lucky to the yacht, Luke makes his escape, and Helena tells
Lucky he's passed the test.  However, she impales a loaf of bread with a
knife to indicate what happens to people who DON't pass the tests.

Luke has hastened to his listening devices and learns that Lucky told
about Mike.

2.The StuporCouple

Jax and V are reviewing the ceremony.  He tells her: "As usual, your
attention to detail has been pleasantly compulsive."  She warns him about
security, but at least he's safe for tonight.  She is going to leave so he
can get ready, as Brenda will distract him. He asserts that he and
Brender are strictly friends.  He sits V down to convince her that he
doesn't trust Brenda, and nothing is going on. He is not stringing Brenda
along.  As V leaves, she says "Ashley called: why haven't you called her
back?"

Meanwhile, Ned comes to see Brenda and tells her it's foolish to play the
stock market.  She says it's OK because she's doing it for Jax.  "Jax
loves me, he told me he loved me, he came to me and told me he loved me...."
[Oops, sorry, Your Fearless Updater has heard the BrainDeadMantra before, and
got a little confused.]  Ned tries to tell Brenda that there are more than
two men in the world, and Your Fearless Updater yells at the screen
"Jagger's in San Francisco, go after HIM!"  BrainDead assures Ned,
through the mantra, that "there's only one for me."  She shows off
different dresses.  [She has no more luck choosing dresses than choosing men.
Decisive, NOT!]  Ned reminds Brenda that Jax is all about closing the deal.
[And Ned isn't?]  Brenda replies "Jax and I were made to be together."

Yawn.

3. Tess Has a Plan

Tess has a "surprise date" planned for Mac and Felicia.  She's even
organized backup babysitters in case Ever-Ready Betty can't sit. [Has
this ever happened?  Does Betty have a life of her own?]  She's picked
out a white tux for Mac and the ugliest gaudiest dress one can imagine
for Felicia.  Felicia will wear the dress but is dubious about the
corsage. She goes off to change.

Mac (as Jimmy) asks "What's up, Tess?"  She tells him he has to do what
he is told.  She calls Mithc telling him it's all set.  "Hey, she gets
shot, she gets shot.  Maybe next life she'll know better."

V tells Felicia this it really suspicious and cancel it.  They talk about
Jimmy, who has been regaling V with tales of his lost loves, including [CLUE!
HELLO VIEWERS, THIS IS A CLUE!] the one who ditched him while he was
getting a tattoo with her name on it.  HE'S HAD THE TATTOO REMOVED.

Tess, who seems to be the only person in Port Charles who knows where the
clue shop is, sees Mac, unscarred, getting ready for the "date."

Felicia "accidently" steps on the corsage.  Tess says "You'll never have
another night like this" as she bundles them off.  Then she calls Mitch
and tells him "we have a problem."  She tells him that it's Mac.

4. Edward Weasels

At Wyndham's, Carly is trying on makeup and Edward comes up and gives her
advice.  He asks about Michael and suggests that someday Jason might
leave her in the lurch and she'd do well to feather her nest in case.
He's hoping she will avert the strike.

After he's left, Carly decides to buy all the makeup, even though it's
pricy.  [THIS is feathering the nest?  She's maybe looking at her mother's
profession?]

Edward tells Ned the strike won't happen.
