From: cordet@mindspring.com (maryb) Subject: GH: Update Wednesday 3/25 Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 11:49:03 -0600 X-Server-Date: 26 Mar 1998 17:43:25 GMT At the start of the school day, Sarah found Lizzie about to <horrors>skip the school field trip to a planetarium. Liz (BTW, looked like she was dressed for an early '90s tampon commercial audition. Big, white, fluffy robe, etc.) says she doesn't want to stand with a bunch of strangers in a dark place, and when the two start talking Rape Talk, Audrey comes downstairs and goes ballistic, telling Sarah to leave Lizzie's thoughts alone. Sarah, confused, explains that she's only trying to help. When Lizzie goes upstairs, Sarah again tries to state her case of why Liz should get counseling, and wants to know why Audrey's treating the whole issue like it's something dirty. When Audrey gets even more upset, saying her grand daughter can't even being to understand the issue, Sarah puts everything together and directly asks if her Gram had had a similar experience to Elizabeth's. Audrey's silence confirms the answer, and Sarah expresses some sympathy. When Audrey tells her it was over thirty years ago, Sarah doesn't press her for any details, but asks her to maybe share with Liz. No, Audrey says, it was a completely different situation and would be no help. Sarah again expresses how sorry she is, and before leaving, says Elizabeth thinks her grandmother is ashamed of her. Audrey says no, but Sarah reiterates that Liz needs to know that, and know why. After Sarah leaves, Elizabeth comes bounding downstairs to see her grandmother in tears. When Liz asks what's wrong, Audrey spills the story of how, while she was recovering from her first Steve Hardy heartbreak, she married Tom Baldwin in spite of his temper, thinking she'd change him. Subtly she noted how abusive he was, and more specifically she told Liz of how he raped her by way of taking his conjugal rights. Audrey went on to tell her granddaughter that though their circumstances were different, she too believed that she was at fault at the time of her rape, and expressed how sorry she was that she gave Liz the impression that she blamed the young Ms. Webber for her own attack. Getting back to the story, Audrey explained how she went away to give birth to the child she became pregnant with as a result of the rape, and when she came back, told everyone the child (Tommy) died at birth. She wrapped up by saying that she survived the ordeal and skipped straight to her and Steve's happy ending. Finally, she wanted Liz to know that she did have a clue, and that, though her way of coping with her rape differed from today's accepted practices, she wanted Liz to do whatever she had to to get through it. The Qs shared breakfast with their new bodyguards - Edward wasn't happy to have to feed them (NOTE: Edward referred to them as "Jason's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," hee hee), and named a fu-fu coffee-drinking fellow: "Hazelnut." (NOTE 2 - overall, the scene looked gratuitous - just a chance to get Q bickering in. Not that it wasn't entertaining.) AJ gets off the phone with word on a possible lead to BBQ's whereabouts, and Ned immediately expresses firm doubts, setting his cousin off for the first time in the show. AJ gripes, then leave to check out the lead. After making a pass around the room (checking the gates?), Ned tells Alan to wake up to reality and comfort his wife. Finding his pillbox empty, Alan fixes himself a screwdriver, goes to Monica and attempts to solace - but she successfully drives him away by asking why he wasn't any help last night. Mac and Felicia went to the police with the news about Robin's MIA status. The fearless detective Garcia was unhappy to hear that Jason persuaded them to wait before coming in w/the news. Which segued the conversation to Michael's kidnapping (Judy, I'm sorry, but Garcia really needs a haircut - he looks like a Dazed and Confused Character) and the word that there was no news, no leads. When Taggerrrt comes in with a huge thermos of coffee (is it any wonder I'm FGC Taggert) and informs all that Jason gave them the slip, suddenly Mac is back on the force, demanding a couple of phones and everything file they had on "Jason Morgan - the real one." (updater's confusion: the real Jason or the real file?) Next thing you know, he's giving orders; a watch on Brenda's house, etc. Filly remembers that she was a PI in a past life and comes up with a list of people to question. Enter Dara, who gets some crap from Taggert over her association with Jason's lawyer - maybe he'd have some info. After some words w/Mac, she comes back and kicks Marcus out of his own desk, and with no argument he complies and heads for the Qs. In a not-necessarily-moving-the-plot-forard scene, we see Mac and Filly attempting to gather info, getting nowhere, Filly expressing how much he belongs here, Filly expressing more general support, etc. Dara comes up and says "well, at least you two have each other." Filly sadly agrees, then follows Mac into the interrogation room to offer more comfort. They hold hands. Taggert checks in at the Qs, asks what's up with the goons, informs the clan that Robin Scorpio is now missing and conjects an all out mob war may be in the offing. They go berserk at the news; Alan's upset that she's without her medication, but suggests they she can get back on protocol if found in time. The family gets Emily out of the room when Moreno's name comes up, and Taggert brings them up to speed. After Monica splits, Ned asks for more info, now that all the ladies are out hearing range; as Alan approaches, Marcus sniffs out major alcohol from his cup as makes stinky motions - Alan asks if Taggert is also "the coffee police." (lots of coffee jokes today), and Ned sticks up for his uncle. Alan also defends his own right to use all the crutches he can get his hands on in the situation. The good detective is shown the door. Alan pours another drink before Monica comes back - he shares with her the info that Taggert shared with them. Ned reenters to inform them that AJ's back (he makes a crack about it not being the first time we've seen him in the back of a police car) empty-handed, which Alan Jr. confirms with some hostility thrown his cousin's way. The discussion moves to Jason's role in the events at hand, with AJ condemning and Ned defending Morgan's renegade tactics. Eventually, Ned provokes AJ to violence. Well, it wasn't an all out fist fight, but it was enough to show that AJ was really, really mad. The issue unresolved, AJ splits. Katybell is back in town (she went away? Didn't notice.), opening the mail when Nikolas greets her with the news that A) Stefan's out of town - but he didn't say WHY - and that he's dropping out of PC High to go back to the tutor route. Later at school, Nik's in the lounge and Sarah finds him. Very, very awkward scene for both, and they're reduced to discussing her class schedule. Back home, Nik relates the happening to Katybell, who, trying to make him feel better asks: "Did you think you'd spend the rest of your life in love with her? Only her?" She then goes on to explain the temporal nature of young love, and, giving him something to think about, quits the room. Back at police HQ, Taggert takes a call informing him that Jason's indeed gone after Moreno's and that "Albany is a war zone."* Mary *a former Albanian who finds that hysterical
