General Hospital update for Monday March 2, 1998--

Luke's Place--

Luke and Lucky are discussing Liz's situation. Lucky sees how

uncomfortable his father is, but misconstrues his reaction--"We

both know that what happened to Liz is the same thing that

happened to Mom."

Luke pauses. What does Lucky mean? Well, he's been trying

to figure it all out--why would any man force himself on a

woman?--when he finally figured it out. He's known people like

that all his life--the Cassadines.

Laura was forced to stay on that island and to give birth to

a child by Stavros. She went through the same thing as Liz,

except it was even worse--because she couldn't leave. Lucky

wonders how his mom could even bear to look at Nikolas, knowing

he's the product of a forced liaison. Luke sits guilty and

silent through all of this, then smiles sadly. "There's no

explaining your mother's heart."

Lucky leaves and Bobbie enters. She needs a drink, having spent

the day holding Lizzie's hand during the girl's gyno exam. It

got her thinking about her own teen years--her own first gyno

exam was when as a teen hooker she learned she was pregnant from

 a john.

"Why do you want to go there?" Luke pleads. Let the past alone.

But the past is coming back to slap them smack in the face,

Bobbie tells him. That is what is giving him so much trouble now.

"Maybe so," he grinds out, "but it's *my* past, Barbara. Not

yours." And there's no way he's going to hurt his son by dragging

him into all the debris of the past.

Luke confesses that his son has drawn some parallels between

what happened to Liz and what occurred to Laura at Cassadine

hands. Bobbie indulges in one of my favorite "Bobbie-isms" and

gives the famous raised eyebrow routine. "Ohh, I see."

No, you do not see, Barbara Jean, Luke tells her. What happened

between him and Laura was completely different than what happened

to Liz.

"There are only two people who can tell Lucky that, and one of

them isn't here..." Luke stops her: "Don't go there."

Okay, fine. They trade a few quips and Bobbie departs. Luke

sighs gustily.

Secret Mobster Hangout Place--

Da Biggada Boss (Jason) is reacting to the other mob guys telling

him that he is being replaced. He's not qualified to lead--he's

only Sonny's flunky. Benny tries stickin' up for his guy, but

the other mobsters shut him up.

Jason coolly explains his stance to the others. Sonny always

felt drugs were bad business, and he agrees. The fact is that

they are making the most money for the least amount of risk, and

that's a good deal.

Sam wants to assert his power, but Jason reminds them that if

they fight among themselves, Moreno will only come in and take

over their turf.

The stone faced boy dares them to unseat him. Justus enters:

"Sorry I'm late. Hope I didn't miss any fireworks."

No, he's just in time. But he might want to step out again--

things might be getting messy real soon. Justus stays. Renaldo

enters and "escorts" Sam, the traitor, out of the room. (And

where to? We can only speculate.) Sam sputters fearfully and

tries to get Jason to back down, as Jason assures those assembled

that it is "only business".

Jason's Place--

Carly and Robin are gearing up for round two of the catfight

begun on Friday. Robin still insists that She will inform AJ that

he is Michael's father. CArly tells her that for all intents and

purposes, Jason is the baby's father. What happens to Jason when

Carly takes off again, this time with the baby in tow? Carly lets

her know that she has *no* intention of going anywhere.

*MEOW* Although no punches are thrown (and nobody ends up in a

swimming pool, so "Dynasty"s Krystle and Alexis remain TVs catfight

queens), both contestants manage to land a few low-blows.

*POW* Carly might once have been Jason's sex-partner, but that

doesn't mean Jason will ever touch her again!

*WHAM* Robin treats Jason like a little boy and can't seem to

understand that he's a man, with a full-grown man's *needs*!

*SOCK* Carly is just a manipulator who is taking advantage of

Jason's affection for her son!

*BAM* Robin acts like Jason is so damaged that he can't make

his own decisions!

*WHAM-BLAM-THANK YOU MA'AM* Or is little Robin just jealous that

Carly and Jason had sex, since that was something she wasn't

capable of giving Jason herself? HMMM?

(And as usual with two female combatants, the man they're fighting

over manages to escape without a lick of blame!)

Robin realizes that she never should have tries talking to Carly.

This is between her and Jason, and she will take it up with him.

"Their" bridge--

With that special communication that they alone share, Jason

manages to find Robin at the bridge, waiting. But something's off--

she's startled by his presence. She thought he was someone else.

Who? "A stranger," she replies.

Why didn't she realize it was him? Did something happen? Jason

declines to say.

Now Robin totally wimps out (IMO) and tells him that she's

going to leave the Michael decision up to him. Well, he's not

gonna tell AJ anything. That baby means everything to Jason and

he's not going to let him down. After telling each other how much

they still care, they part.

Jason returns to the apartment to allay Carly's fears that

Robin will spill the beans. Later, Robin goes back to the bridge

and smiles mysteriously. Is she saying her private goodbye to

Jason?

  Brenda's place--

Brenda's on tenterhooks, having given Jax her ultimatum to

marry her. Jax sadly tells her no can do. It's too late for

them to be anything more than friends.

They had their chance, but they just couldn't make it work as

a couple. The main reason was that he just wasn't the right man

for her. She followed her heart, and it led her away from him.

Our gal is having a hard time digesting this. "Are you turning

me down?" (Hell-o!) Then why did he kiss her? He admits he's

still attracted to her, but the kissing was a mistake. They

shouldn't kiss anymore. That "muddies" things.

But you said you love me, Bren insists. Why can't that be enough?

JAx tells her that love was not enough to keep her and Sonny

together, and it can't keep them together, either.

Bren won't take no for an answer. She can promise him the

future now, really! She can! But he tells her that he was so

hurt by losing her before, he simply can't rush into anything.

He can't risk the pain again.

Bren doesn't want to hear this. She starts getting girlish and

giggly. She will manage to change his mind. Oh, and just forget

that crazy ultimtum stuff, she was just going for the effect.

"You've seen what I've done for the wrong man, Jax. Just wait til

you see what I'm willing to do for the right one." (Geez, is that

a threat or what?)

Jax leaves, looking sad and a little worried, while Bren's got

that "I always get my man" gleam in her eye.

  The End!
