Subject: Date: 3/2/98 8:09 PM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com UPDATE THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12 1. THE QUARTERMAINE HEIR Edward wants to talk to AJ and says he's not to be interrupted unless there's a general emergency like the end of the world, or (worse) the Dow dropping 100 points. He comments on AJs suits. He wants AJ to worm into Carly's affections. Maybe they should offer to pay for the funeral? AJ says he has to stay away from Carly for his own mental health. Edward starts to bluster about "loyalty" and Monica comes in. Monica tears a strip off Edward. AJ says he wants a hand in ELQ before he gets to be an errand boy, and he storms off. Edward then thinks maybe Monica can sucker Carly in. Edward reminds Monica of her own gold-digger days. "You don't have to LOVE the girl, you just have to treat her like family." He's worried about Bobbie being the competion: "We know that Carly's very skilled at emotional blackmail." "She'd do THIS family proud," Monica agrees. She thinks Edward would be better at winning Carly's trust. "I think the two of you would appreciate each other." She also says, "You want dirty work done, you do it yourself." "This family was FOUNDED on dirty work, Dr. Quartermaine!" Edward asserts. Meanwhile, Carly gets home and wearily tells Jason that her mother died. Jason at first thinks she means Bobbie, but Carly tells him that Virginia had come. She feels guilty because she was ashamed of Virginia. She will bury her in Florida. Jason asks her to stay in Port Charles. Carly goes upstairs, and Bobbie storms in with a bag of baby things. She tells Jason off. She wants nothing to do with Jason or Carly or Michael (big mistake here!) ever again. "I came here to resign as your patsy, Carly's punching bag, and Michael's nurse." She has the medical records, formula, pharmacist's number, the number of a baby nurse. There's also a tape of lullabies. Carly comes in with Michael. "What are YOU doing here?" "Washing my hands of you!" Jason asks Bobbie to take it easy because Carly has had a hard day. Bobbie tears a strip off of Carly. Virginia "made an honest woman out of Carly" by dying. "Get Out!" "Gladly!" Jason takes Michael and Carly says it's the last time Bobbie will see Michael. 2. TONY SHAVES HIS HEAD 3. FAMILY MATTERS Bobbie is at Kelly;s and Lucky comes breezing in, back from the Outer Banks. (Everyone knows where they are, right? What's the point of hiding out?) Bobbie says it's a bad day. Luke comes in and Bobbie tells Lucky to ask his dad. Lucky says "You can never have too much family" and Bobbie demurs: "Oh yes you can, I've had a bellyful." She leaves and Luke tells Lucky about Carly. Lucky is annoyed that he didn't know. Luke leaves, and Tony follows him. Tony accosts Luke in the park. He's convinced it's all Luke's fault (that Tony's unhappy, I guess.) Luke points out that Tony was not thinking with his big head. Tony pushes Luke and keeps doing it till Luke punches him. Luke tells Tony to go home. 4. LIZ MAKES HER MOVE Liz is waiting for Audrey at the hospital. "Who CARES about the Louisiana Purchase anyway? Thomas Jefferson should have just whipped out his card and paid for the whole darn thing." Audrey and Liz have a talk. It's apparent that all of Liz's nastiness of the summer came in the cigarettes, because now that she's stopped them, she's downright nice. Audrey says she was more like Liz. She suggests that Liz ask Lucky to the dance. Liz points out that she's the girl, and Audrey says that's an old-fashioned notion. Liz says Lucky likes Sarah. [Your Fearless Updater wasn't surprised to see Sarah had some selfish traits: the glimmerings have always been there.] Liz goes to Kelly's and asks Lucky to hang out at the dance. He agrees. She bounces off, back to Audrey, just thrilled. Liz asks Audrey to go shopping with her. Meanwhile, Sarah goes to Kelly's and does the "egg cream" joke with Lucky. She asks him to take her to the dance.
