Update for General Hospital--Monday Feb. 2 1998

The Church-- While the congregation applauds the baby's christening,
Carly sneaks into the church. Jason goes back and asks her to come
join them at the altar. She refuses, prefering to sit in back.

After the ceremony, Monica tells Carly that she ought to disappear
again--for good. Jason and Carly catch up--but she still can't hold
the baby. The priest announces a reception later, but Jason makes
it clear that the Qs, after crashing the baptism, are not invited.
(However, Marino is--go figure.)

Bobbie intervenes and asks Carly's permission to include the Qs. Ed
Q snarls at Jason's treatment, but Lila puts him in his place. JAson
steals a moment to thank Robin for coming. Em later convinces Robin
to join them at the reception.

Fancy restaurant-- Brenda and Jax are chatting when Ashley arrives.
Brenda recognizes the fellow-model and begins introducing her to
Jax, but whaddya know--he already knows her. As a matter of fact,
she's having dinner with Jax. Oops. Brenda becomes a third wheel at
Jax' insistance, while Ashley shares some modeling advice (and
manages to sneak in a few pot-shots at Brenda's less than towering
height). When Ash slips away briefly, Jax and Bren discuss her
career oppportunities. Now that Bren's exclusive contract is kaput,
she's finding modeling a tough row to hoe. Brenda finds it strange
to think of Jax dating Ashley. She wants Jax to have a life of his
own--but seems none too happy to see him take her at her word. Bren
tells him that any woman who would let him get away would be a real
fool. She also tells him how upset she was when she heard that his
plane went down.

Jason's place-- Carly still is reluctant to hold the baby. In the
hallway, Ed Q grumps about having to wait for admission, then makes
a beeline for Carly as soon as he's inside. He murmurs about the
"important matters" they should discuss. Monica thanks Bobbie for
getting the Qs in to the shindig, and marvels at Bobbie's ability to
give Carly the benefit of the doubt, after everything the girl has
done to her. AJ loses no time in sidling up to Carly. He tells her
how Jason pulled a gun on them when the Qs tried to"persuade" him to
leave the baby with them. Carly sneers at him--Jason was bluffing,
because he knew they would back down. AJ commends her and Jason for
being so in tune--Jason doesn't care that she drugged AJ and she
doesn't care that Jason pulled a gun. Only what happens when they
turn on each other--or worse yet, on the baby?

Their voices rise and Jason comes over, telling AJ to beat it.
"Sure, Jase," AJ answers coolly. A moment later, a sputtering Ed Q
is "escorted", none too gently, into the room by Jason's henchman.
Seems he was trying to sneak in to see the baby. Ed loudly objects
to being manhandled and threatens all sorts of legal action. Jason
bursts into laughter--then, seeing Robin's look, tells his guy to
let Ed go. Edward's behavior gets all the Qs kicked out, and
dis-invited to any future events, with the exception of Lila and
Emily.

Marino approaches Robin and unnerves her by telling her they have
met before, and that he was well acquainted with her parents and
with Duke Lavery. Jason moves in, rescuing Robin, and warns Marino
that no one under his "protection" (sheesh!) is to be threatened.

The Q manse-- Ed tells his assembled family that he has a new plan
to get his paws on "the child" (he will go to any lengths to avoid
calling him Michael). They should simply take Carly under their
wing and befriend her--temporarily, that is, until they can pay her
off and keep the baby for themselves. The others are underwhelmed
by the plot, but that's not stopping the Edster.

Jason's place-- Carly says goodnight and makes to go to bed. Jason
holds little Michael and begins having a little private conversation
with him, while Carly, hiding in the background, looks on with a
mixture of guilt and longing.

  The end!
