From: djmaryb@mindspring.com (maryb) Subject: GH: Update Wednesday 1/28 Date: Sat, 07 Feb 1998 20:39:18 -0600 X-Server-Date: 8 Feb 1998 02:35:36 GMT Wyndemere Why not start the day with an insult? Katybell approaches Mrs. Lansbury, and in not so many words, tells her she's got bad taste in floral arrangements, then commands her to change the order with the florist. Nik comes downstairs, and after a quick exchange w/him, Mrs. L. runs off. Katybell's next order of business is to talk him into getting help for his speech problem. Quartermaine House At the Q's, Emily enters, with AJ shortly behind her; she gives him the big brush-off, and when Alan wanders out, does the same with her father. AJ notices something askew with Dr. Q's appearance, but Alan shrugs it. Sarah Webber stops over with proofs for the H.S. yearbook; Emily shows her the new dress she bought - for BBQ's christening, and asks her pal not to say a word about the upcoming event. Sarah agrees, and asks Em to look in on Nik for her - gets a surprise when she finds out girlfriend was already planning to visit Nik this evening - and see if he read her previous letter, and feel out his thoughts on the matter. Also at the Q's, Alexis is profusely thanking Ned for a favor that he's about to perform for her - keeping Stefan away from Spoon Island for a while. Nedly complies, no questions asked, but says he may ask her to return the favor one day. She slips out; Stefan enters and wants to know why Ned commanded his presence. Ned claims to have Djakarta info and makes up some tale about having evidence of Stef's misdeeds. Stefan laughs; Ned then shakes his finger at him for interfering with Ashton's relationship w/Alexis. Stefan walks. Alan and AJ enter. Wyndemere Mrs. Lansbury re-enters and informs Kath that an unknown female is at the docks, wanting to speak with Our Lady of the Guesthouse. Despite Mrs. L's warning that it could be a wacko, Kath's intrigued and splits. Left alone, Nik takes out Sarah's letter (which he previously crumpled) and reads it. At the docks (the Tiki torches are back!), Kat's expecting Helena, but gets an eyefull of Alexis, instead, and demands to know what her nemesis wants. Alexis was in a begging mood, told her a tale that Helena was going to have her killed, and only Nik's intervention could spare her life. The spin: Alexis knows a brilliant doctor who could help Nik get his speech back, in hopes that he'll use his voice to plea on her behalf. In the middle of their conversation, Emily arrives on the island, and wanders up to the house to find Nikolas shadow- fencing. She talks at him, tells him all about the upcoming christening, and asks him straight out if he ever got around to reading Sarah's letter. Back at the Q's AJ informs Ned that he plans to rejoin ELQ. Ned about falls over laughing and tells his cousin in no uncertain terms that he's not welcome. While they're trading insults, Alan stands by and eventually intervenes, to voice his full support for his son. So much so, that AJ and Ned are both a little surprised and worried at his ardor. Finally, Alan overheats and has to go outside. Helena's tastefully appointed apartment Stefan pays a surprise visit to his mum, and tells her he knows what she's up to, and that she paid a visit to Katherine. Helena claims she's stick around because she's oh so worried about Nikolas, and her prodigal son warns her that Kat's been informed to her tricks, and knows what to expect, so she should stop trying to get through to him and Nik through Katherine. Wyndemere On Spoon Island docks, Alexis pleads her case once again, and splits. Inside, Em asks Nik what thoughts he had on Sarah's letter; he indicates nada, and she gets on his case about the matter a little. Next, they move to Nik's speech - Em gets a quick success by getting him to say his name, but he clams up after. Nik indicates he wants Em to be his speech therapist, in exchange for fencing lessons. She agrees to the deal. One thing: he wants it to be kept a secret. Q's Alan returns to the house, and AJ clucks over him. He says his blood pressure has been acting up, then returns to the matter of his son rejoining ELQ. Alan informs Ned to deal with it, but Ashton warns him "it's only a matter of time before you crash and burn." For one, short moment, Ned seems to be warning his cousin out of something other than spite - but not quite concern, either. Helena's tastefully appointed apartment Stefan and Helena come to a lack of understanding, and as he's leaving, she let's on that she's been dicking with the Spencers, and that she now knows Laura has relocated from Suiss-land. Stefan flares his nostrils and tells her to leave Laura to him. Q's Emily returns home and faces Sarah with the news that Nik didn't have much reaction at all to the letter. Sarah's discouraged, but Em tells her not to give up hope, just yet. When Sarah asks for something more concrete, Em starts talking in vagaries. Helena's tastefully appointed apartment Alexis shares her Katherine scene with Helena, who's delighted, and positive that Kat took the bait. Alex isn't so sure. Wyndemere Stefan returns home to have Katherine ask him vague questions about Helena and Alexis. She wants to know if Helena is really the ogre Stef makes her out to be, and if so, how come "Natasha" is still alive? Nikolas wanders out to the docks, and with some anguish, shouts out his name.
