General Hospital Update for Monday January 19, 1998--

Previously on GH--The Qs try to keep baby Morgan

Q manse--
  AJ and Jason face off--Jason is not leaving the baby with them.
And what is Tony doing here?  He's concerned about the baby.  In
turn, AJ, Ed and Alan try to convince Jason to let the baby stay.
Monica enters, wondering what's going on--and gets angry when
Emily informs her that the men "lured Jason here so they could
steal his baby."
        Jason orders Em to take the baby from Alan and hand it to him.
Justus lambasts the others for what they tried to pull, and Tony
in turn gets pissy with him, asking when he started working for
Jason.  When Jason leaves with the baby, Alan and Ed get on
Justus' case for not "sticking with family".  He is tired of that
word being bandied about, esp. today, the anniversary of his
grannyMae's death.  Though Ed warns him that walking out now will
be tantamount to walking out on the family for good, Justus stalks
out. He passes Ned coming in, and tells him to take care of Emily.
"In fact, take care of everything.  I abdicate."
  Em is outraged that she was used as the lure to get Jason to
come over.  Then it is Monica's turn to ream everybody out.  Ned
gets into the mix, losing no time in zeroing in on AJ.  He's
nothing but a drunk and a loser.  Ned even accuses him of
intentionally injuring Jason, because he knew he could never
measure up to his kid brother.
  AJ wonders--what is Ned really angry about?  Could he be feeling
threatened?  Alan jumps in to defend AJ.  The whole event
degenerates into a free-for-all of accusation and abuse, as Monica
rails at Alan, Ed berates Tony for "using" the vulnerable Qs, and
Ned tears into AJ. Meanwhile, poor Em hops unbeknowst out the
window and hightails it.
  During a lull, Alan and AJ share a taster's choice moment.  Alan
is glad that his Number One son is with him tonight.
  Ed Q is shaken by Justus' abandonment of the family.  Ned could
care less.  So what? he asks.

  Brender's place--
  Our gal explains to Jax why she was acting so kooky.  She tells
him about being at Lily's grave, not realizing that he heard much
of her "discussion" with Lily.  She realizes that it could just as
easily be her in that grave.  She's glad to be alive, and glad
that Jax is her friend.

  Jason's place--
  Justus turns up and tells Jason he's through with the Qs.  He
talks about his GrannyMae and also confesses his role in Damian
Smith's death.  Jason displays his astounding array of emotional
responses by lifting his eyebrows a millimeter.  Did Justus have a
reason?  He couldn't allow Smith to destroy everything his granny
worked for.  But what was worse, he allowed Laura Spencer to stand
trial for murder.  Jason refuses to "beat up on" Justus--he's
doing a good enough job of that himself.  He does, however, offer
him a place to stay--the pentouse across the way that formerly
belonged to KatyBell.
  We learn that Jason was indeed armed at the Qs--but he knew he
wouldn't have to use the weapon.  Justus leaves and Jason promises
the baby that he will protect him and keep him away from Q
influence.  Soon Emily shows up, in tears.  Jason calms her--he
knows she had nothing to do with the set-up.  They share some cake
sent over by Robin for Jason's "second birthday" as a Morgan.  Em
asks hopefully if he and Robin are back together.  JAson answers
no.
  Justus checks out his new digs as MaryMae's voice sings
"Everytime We Say Goodbye" in the background.
