UPDATE THURSDAY JANUARY 8
THE POST-PARTUM DEPRESSION EPISODE

(Your Fearless Updater had a couple of interruptions but
thinks she got the gist of it.)

1. Brenda Shows her Claws

When there's a knock at the door, Brenda stops admiring her
picture with the face cut out and answers it.  It's Emily, bringing
a gift and trying to find out how Jason could possibly be the
father of Carly's baby.  Brenda makes an inappropriate joke about being
"tied up" and laughs wildly.

Emily has left when Robin comes back from missing her meeting with Mac.
Brenda is convinced she's really seeing Jason, and makes all kinds of
"you don't have to lie to me" noises, and then she laces into Robin
telling her how awful Jason is.  She lies about Jason kissing her, not
the actual way it happened.  Robin obviously doesn't know how to cope
with this madwoman.  Brenda says "Don't let Jason & Sonny ruin the one
last decent friendship I have in my life."  Your Fearless Updater thinks
like a Roo-echo.

2. But enough about the Boat-anchor.  To the FUN part: the Quartermaines!

Alan and Monica are getting dressed up for the board meeting. Alan is
turned on by the word "merger."  They discuss Jason.  Monica is surprised
by Alan's manic mood, and asks "What are you on?"  "A beautiful dose of my
wife on a daily basis."  "Well, just keep taking it, whatever it is!"  (Talk
about one's words coming back to haunt one.) When she leaves he heads for
the pill bottle.  He fills up on extras as Quartermaine meetings are such
fun.

Edward and Justus are discussing the board meeting.  Edward is worried
about Jax: "out of the frying pan and onto the barbie."
Edward thinks Jax will explore weaknesses, and that his
relationship with Justus is the weakest link.  "I realize we've been
drifting apart."  "No, we haven't, Edward, we were never that close to
begin with."  Later he complains: "I'm not a partner, I'm an acquisition."

Ned and Jax come in and they all discuss Brenda.

Lila wheels in and Jax compliments her.  In the lobby the menfolk decide
that AJ is not coming, and Jason is not coming.  Edward is glad.  There
will be no surprises, they open the door and voila!  Jason's there.

Alan is equal to see the baby.  Monica shushes him.  Edward wants to talk
to Carly.  "She's the mother of a 6-pound Quartermaine."  Jason says
Carly is gone.  Monica says: "Jason, she abandoned her child!  What does
she have, post partum depression?"  Ned says: "She must have heard the
Quartermaines were coming."  Lila agrees, in the Line of the Month: "It's
enough to give ME post-partum depression!"  Edward fumes, Alan pleads,
Jason stonewalls.  Another happy Quartermaine moment.  Jason is there for
the board meeting.

Meanwhile, AJ and Keesha are at dinner.  He orders "club soda and salad.
I hate health!"  They discuss the board meeting.  Edward had invited him
but AJ is suspicious.  For the Quartermaines, "Love is like an Olympic
event.  You don't bring home the gold, you're off the team."  They didn't
believe him about Carly.  Keesha says: "Your family puts the dys in
dysfunctional."  AJ says that he's still in Jason's shadow.  Keesha says
bull, that he shouldn't be out-Jasoning Jason.  He's become a man.  He
decides to go to the board meeting.

Where Jason has Sonny's proxy.  Edward explodes.  "We lose one crimelord
and Baby Face Morgan steps in!  No No NO!  This company will not be run
by someone with such a flagrant disregard for the law! Ned, DO something!"
So Ned starts the meeting.

He wants to acquire waterfront.  Justus annoyed he wasn't informed.  He
wants to see the specs.  Justus points out that they w\may own the
waterfront, but Jason runs it.  Lila is delighted: "everyone can work
together!"  "Oh, wonderful.  It's Christmas at the Waltons!" snorts
Edward.  Edward wants to know who they can bribe.  It turns out that
would be Jason.

Renaldo calls Jason out.  Ned says he thinks everything is going just
swimmingly.

Justus gives Jason the warning from Dara.  Monica warns Alan not to push
Jason.  AJ and Keesha come in.  Ned spats with him. "Stay out of this,
AJ, this is for the grownups."  AJ tells Ned they'll need an Environmental
Impact Report.  He has called his old cronies in the City Council, and has
them working on it.  Edward sputters that Baby Boy's first words will be
"subpoena."

They file back into the sitting room.  Ned warns Edward that AJ is being
obstreporous.  Edward remarks: "It's days like this one that take all the
joy and the fun out of being incredibly wealthy."  Lila has gone upstairs to
watch _How Green Was My Valley_, her favorite movie.

In come the Keystone Kops, Garcia and Taggart, to arrest Jason because
his former lawyer had an accident.  Justus starts to go along, and Edward
orders him back.  Edward wants to get the baby.  Surprise surprise,
argument breaks out.

Taggart and Jason face off.  Taggart threatens Robin (who is at that point
being hurt far worse by Brenda.)
