Big Day at the Quartermaines

Morning, the pre-board gathering, started the day in the
typical way - a family fight. Everyone got their points.
Alan, feeling no pain, and Edward were both looking
forward to the littlest Q gracing the joint.
Justus made waves at his Gramps' suggestion of
paying Carly off, for gestation, and sending her on her
way. Something about buying and selling human beings.
Lila smartly surmised to her husband he'd be wise to pay
more attention to the grandson who just walked out the door.
Edward and Ned followed wringing their hands over Ward.
Ned speculated his cousin's corporate days may be
numbered.

Alan popped a word about AJ, who happened to
wander in just as his father was popping a pill
or seven. Young Alan told Monica the news that
wild Carly'd skipped town minus the child. He
thought the time was right, then, to tell Dad
about the night he had Ms. Roberts and how she
laid him over a barrel and a bottle of gin.
Alan, entering, heard this and was all ears.

Out in the foyer, Dara entered and told Justus
she prayed he knew what he was doing
representing a mobster like Jason. She warned him
Jason would likely go to war soon, as Marino was moving
upstate. Justus asked for a date but she ixnayed,
according to The Rules, and left. He swaggered.

Monica, exited, drew the doors, AJ related the
details to the hostile, disbelieving father who
might as well have picked his moods off a lazy
susan. Alan believed the tale of sobriety, but
not the one about being Carly's lover for a night.
Instead he accused AJ of trying to cover for Jason
and rushed out to tell the family, high as a kite.
Alan further excited the crowd when he told them
of Carly's absence from town. Confused, they invited
Junior to tomorrow's board, and AJ, maybe tired of
debasement, slinked out - after some harrassment
from Ned.

Meanwhile, at the Increasingly Castle-like Wyndemere...

Katybell and Stef began the morning with a more
gentle argument with lots of four syllable words.
Kat wanted Nik in speech therapy, already, but Bat
absurdly disagreed. When the mute in question
planted himself in front of a chessboard and brooded
Kat tried to be social, he rudely stared her away.

Lurking outside with Emily, Sarah did hide when
Kat spied and invited the Q in for tea. Or whatever.
As they entered, Stefan shared with Nik the joy of
having a new roommate. The silence was deafening.
It took a bit, but Nik warmed to Em's presence and
held her to a match, she lost, but a dispatch from Sarah
she gave to him and left. He stared at it

Sarah continued to lurk.

Stefan meanwhile pulled Katy outdoors for discussion
of whos good sense would set the rules for Nik's
recoupment. Stef thought Nik needed a horse, not
friends, Kat though otherwise, of course she was
right. Stefan announced a surprise to show and pulled
his love on through the snow -

Sarah continued to lurk.

- and brought her to look out upon her new home,
the guest house at Wyndemere. Katherine was
charmed but noted how cold his toes would get
from having to brave the snow so early each day
before Nik even woke. Hey, no probs, said Vlad,
we got tunnels.

Back at the big house, they cooed, she pointed out
the similarity between themselves and those
timeless lovers Mikkos and Kristen. At the thought
the spectre of Helena raised its head til Kat shooshed
Bat and kissed him

Sarah continued to lurk until Emily came back
outside and to her friend she cried to know
her love's reaction to the note. Em had nothing
to report but tried to reassure her pal, then shooed
her back homeward.

Nik stood on what looked like a battlement, without
opening the letter and crunched it.

and the Ballad of Tony Jones

Who woke up in the hallway, in time to say good
morning, to AJ, and accuse him of helping Carly
make her getaway. To AJ, it was news.

Then met with Alexis and shared his distress
at his lack of entering fatherhood, and his plan
to pick up the slack of Carly's absence. She was
dismayed, he couldn't be swayed - he was "invested"
in the babe and deserved him. Tony left, but his
seat was shortly warmed by Ned, who would have
preferred to have Alexis warming his bed - he
said so (in not so many words). They continued
to banter and Alexis confessed she was ready to
canter out of Port Charles and did ELQ have any
openings in any lands that were far, far away?
Er, no, said Ned, but we just might have a vacancy
soon, closer to home.

But wait. This was supposed to be Tony's ballad.

Tony went back to Carly's apartment, got his stuff,
kicked the door in for good measure, and split.
