Update for General Hospital--Monday Jan. 5, 1998--

Prev. on GH--Carly can't touch the baby
              Brenda eyes the scissors
              Jax visits Robin

At General Hospital--
Mike checks in on Carly's baby. Jason is already there, standing
watch. He's been told that he can touch the baby, but feels that
Carly should be the first one to do that. Mike comments about
Jason's
of being such a good "father", but Jason shrugs off the
compliments.
When he goes to Carly's room, she's trying to walk. She has to
get
out of the hospital! She's surrounded by people who hate her--AJ,
Tony, Bobbie. Jason defends Bobbie--she fought against the
hysterectomy and has been taking good care of the baby. Carly
sulks--she didn't know Jason was a member of the Bobbie Fan Club.
She
was always so sure that she'd be a better mom than Bobbie was, but
now
she can't even touch her own baby.
Nurse Bobbie enters and Jason splits. Carly complains that her
breasts hurt (wow, frank talk for a daytime soap) and Bobbie
explains
that it's just her milk coming in. Does she want a breast pump?
Carly resents Bobbie's kindness and gets pissy with her. Bobbie
stays
calm, and tells Carly to ring if she needs her.
At the nurses' station, AJ asks Amy about the baby's blood type,
pretending that it is Lila who wants to know. He tells Keesha that
if
the child is his, he plans to sue for custody. In a stunning
change
of pace, Keesha serves as sympathetic ear and sounding board
instead
of hogging all the action as she usually does [sarcasm]. (Note to
GH
writers--a Black woman *can* carry a storyline--check out "Jackie
Brown")
Anyways, Amy informs them that the baby is B+. AJ sinks back in
disappointment. That's an exact match for Jason. "For once I
thought
that not everything good would go to Jason." He didn't realize
until
just this moment how much he wanted the baby to be his. In a
startling turn of events [more sarcasm], Keesha comforts him.
As if Carly didn't have enough trouble, what with sore breasts
and
all, here comes Dr. Tony. He blames her for destroying his
marriage
and his life. Oh, did I do that all by myself? she asks
sarcastically. Seems I remember you being a willing participant.
Tony wanted to give the baby everything that he ever gave BJ--and
now
losing that chance has been life losing BJ all over again.
After he tells her how rotten she and Jason will be as parents,
she
responds "I hate you." "I know," he answers. "The feeling is
mutual."

  Brenda's place--
Brenda is humming a child's tune and uses those above-mentioned
scissors to cut her face out of all her pictures. She burns each
cut
out, throwing the remains in the fireplace. She receives Jax's
phone
call, telling her that he's bringing her a surprise. Cool. The
camera pans to a framed photo of our gal, a big empty space where
her
face used to be.

  Jax's plane--
Jax is bringing Robin home to visit his hunny! He earns my
grudging
respect by finally admitting that he was all wrong using his money
and
pushy personality to get Bren released from the hospital. She just
wasn't ready. Now he is trying to make amends by bringing Robin
home.
Talk gets around to Jason. Jax compares him to Sonny, while
Robin
defends him. Both she and Brenda are blind to the fact that these
guys are killers--that's what being in *the mob* means. Robin says
she knows that--that's why she and Jason broke up. They agree not
to
discuss the matter further.

 Back at GH again--
GH is the hub off all kinds of activity today! Carly's doctor
diagnoses her with post-partum depression. She asks Bobbie to take
her to see the baby--she's prove to them all that she's just fine.
Bobbie wheels her in while Nurse Amy tells her how well the baby's
doing. (He is a little cutie!) Carly breaks down. "I can't touch
it!" She staggers out the door and into AJ, just passin' by. He
helps her back to her room.
AJ tells her that he knows that Jason is the father. Carly hides
her surprise, and softens a bit, telling him there was a time when
she actually liked him. Jason comes in and AJ congratulates him.
But
does it even matter to him that he's a father? Jason coolly says
that
that's *his* business (jerk!). AJ leaves.
Luke is also checking on the baby. Bobbie's there, too, and a
guilty Luke gets mushy with her. "You know I love you, baby
sister".
CArly tells Jason about the blood types. The baby got the "B"
from
AJ and the "+" from Carly-- that's one thing, anyway, that she
remembers from her nursing courses. AJ goofed in assuming that
since
the type matched Jason's, he's the dad.
She tells Jason that she needs to get away and get herself
together.
She can't deal with the baby right now. Well, then, maybe AJ
deserves
a shot with the baby. No, Carly insists. AJ will want to keep the
baby. Carly plans to return *sometime*. She wants Jason to
babysit
til then.

As we end, a montage--Luke goes to Carly's room to find an empty
bed; Jason bonds with the little guy in the preemie room as a
smiling
Bobbie looks on; Carly, hospital band still attached to wrist,
boarding a bus for who-knows-where; and Brenda greeting Robin at
her
front door.

The End!
