Update for General Hospital--Monday December 29, 1997

Previously on GH--Brenda lays a smoocherooni on Jason
Carly wakes up in bloody sheets

Windy-mere--
Alexis confesses that she is Natasha, Stefan's sister. She has
a
strongbox full of documents to confirm this. It explains why
Mikkos
allowed a distant relative into the heart of his family. Is it so
dificult for Stefan to believe? Not dificult, he tells
her--impossible.
She knows they have future together--but they do have a past.
She
needs his protection, the same protection he extends to Katherine.
He warns her not to mention Kat. How dare she comes to him with
another lie?
She shows him the documents--"Read these and call me a liar-or
call me your sister." Stef doubts they are authentic. But even
if
they are, what matter to him?
Isn't he curious about his father and Kristin? She how Helena
recognized the opera singer as her husband's mistress and how her
mother's throat was slashed the next morning.
Alexis should leave then, before Helena discovers the truth.
She already has! Alexis breaks down, begging for Stef's
protection
to keep Helena from destroying her. (Some pretty intense stuff
here from NLG.)
Stef remains unmoved. Why would she need his protection when
she has Luke Spencer's? Alexis tries to explain, but he cuts her
off and tells her to leave. She promises that she will not give
up
on him, even if he has given up on her.
When she goes, he sits and broods. Kat slithers in and he
informs her of Alexis' confession. But even if she is his sister,
he will never accept her after the way she betrayed his loyalty.
Especially not if she's forging an alliance with Luke Spencer.

 Brenda's place--
Jason pushes Brenda away. What does she think she's doing?
Jason's sorry that he hurt her before, but she's only hurting
herself now. Bren struggles with him and Superjax bursts through
the door, apparently thinking his wumman is being manhandled, and
punches Jason's lights out. Jason punches back and the guys go at
it, knocking over the Christmas tree as Brenda drifts over to the
sofa, rocking back and forth.
As the guys tussle, a crystal ornament gets crushed underfoot.
Brenda is in a daze. As the testosterone haze clears, Jax
realizes
that Brenda is out of it. He kicks Jason out and tells Bren
everything is going to be all right. As he starts cleaning up, he
keeps talking, eventually reminiscing about their "honeymoon".
Those were the best times he ever had.
He can't put the angel back on the tree--it was smashed in the
fight. They'll find something else instead. Bren hands him her
angel necklace and he give her the goony-eyes.
She confesses that she initiated the spit-swap with Jason. She
wanted to send Sonny a message. She knows that Jason knows where
he is. It would be the ultimate revenge on Sonny: "He can't
destroy me because I will destroy myself first." She tells him "I
think I'm losing my mind."

  Jason's place, then GH--
Carly crawls downstairs to get to the phone, but collapses
before
she makes the call. Jason returns from the dust-up with Jax to
find her. He carries her out the door as he calls for Renaldo.

At GH, Bobbie and Monica discuss Nik's dysphasia and his low
morale. They move to discussing Jason--how part of him is kind
and
generous, the other part ruthless. How will Robin react when she
learns he's been sleeping with Carly?
Bobbie then goes and chirps at Nik for a while, trying to cheer
him, but you can guess how that goes. Still, Monica reminds her
that Nik's long-term prognosis is good. Bobbie is beeped--she's
needed *stat* (I learned that term from many years of soap
watching) in ER.
Carly is brought into ER and Jason explains how he found her.
He
asks Bobbie to stay with her as she is wheeled away. The doc
expains that a caesarian will have to be performed to save mom and
baby.
Meanwhile, Alexis sneaks in to gaze at a sleeping NIk. She
tells
him that the Cassadines always think they're at war with the
world--but the real battleground is within the family. The
problem
is, she's not sure what side she's on anymore.
In the OR, Carly is hysterical. "Don't let them take my baby,"
she begs Bobbie. They knock her out (Carly, not Bobbie). Things
look grim. Jason gazes through the window while Renaldo (had to
fit
him into this update--be still my heart!) inquires about Carly's
condition.
The operation is performed and the baby is delivered--it's a
boy!
Bobbie holds him as Carly's heart suddenly stops. As the doctors
rush to jump-start it, Bobbie demands "Don't you dare leave this
baby without a mother. Don't you dare!"

The end!
