Subject: Date: 1/3/98 12:06 PM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com UPDATE THURSDAY DECEMBER 11 (My first Guza update. What a difference!) 1. The Heat is On... Carly asks AJ why he would get a court order to make her do something she'd already said she would do. AJ belabors the obvious, that Carly's track record isn't so great. She argues. She tells him to leave HER baby alone. And what would he do about it if the baby WAS his? [Bad move, Carly...] He just wants to know if it's his. She wants him to walk away: "It's not genes that make a parent, it's an investment of love." [Does she ever listen to herself? Think of Virginia?] She asks AJ again what his plan is, and says "It's MINE! You better back off!" Carly essentially backs him into a corner. He admits he had been falling in love with her, and she wants to know what if it's his. He wants to raise it. Oh, yes, she says: "A Quartermaine trust fund brat thought it would be a kick to give single fatherhood a try." She huffs off. Keisha comes in. AJ asks if they are still speaking. He tells her about the court order and that he said more than he intended. He was only giving Keisha lip service about getting married and having kids, but since getting sober, shorter, and darkhaired [OK, I added the last two!] he's been confronting the possibility of becoming a grownup. He's always thought that being a father was a dangerous occupation and being a kid was even worse. But now he wants to be a father someday. Keisha points out that Carly has no rights to tell AJ what to do. "Carly has an incredible knack for beating the odds." Meanwhile, Tony tells Bobbie [after she pries] that he hired Alexis to file for custody. [Your Fearless Updater is in awe at Brad Maule's acting. I should think he'd have character whiplash from the sudden 180-degree turn in his character. Just a week ago YFU was wishing he could have a little happiness in his life, while this week, I'm wishing him misery. Makeup, making him about 10-20 years older looking, helps, but it takes a good actor to do this. Kudos.] Bobbie is surprised and also takes it personally. YFU cheers as she lays down some home truths. He says he's not just "a self-righteous creep ripping babies out of mothers' arms." Bobbie's not willing to go that far. She semi-sees good things with Carly. She remembers when SHE was 16, and everyone told her she wasn't fit to be a mother. She warns Tony to prepare for a fight. Tony is surprised she's empathizing with Carly. She tells him he has his blinders on -- about HIMSELF. "If my feelings really mattered to you at all you never would have drawn up those custody papers right after you just dumped me for a woman half your age. So what you really want is my support, not my opinion, and you know what" I'm having a really hard time trying to play cheerleader on this one!" Tony wants more. She gives it to him. "After turning all of our lives upside down, and getting Carly pregnant, now you're walking out on her, too! While blaming her for being exactly who she is, and who everybody else always knew she was!" That said, the idea of Carly as a mother makes her want to run to Child Protective Service, "so you know what? I don't have any sage advice for you..." "Yes you do, keep my blinders off." "Always." Tony pretends to appreciate the comments. However, he'll sue for custody. He has a gift for being a single father. [YFU doesn't see it, personally. He dumps Lucas every chance he can to do something with or to Carly.] The phone rings. It's Alexis. Bobbie leaves, and runs into Carly. Bobbie tells her not to go into Tony's office. Carly asks if she's Tony's watchdog, not realizing it's the other way around. Bobbie says he's on a phone consult. Carly asks if she really thinks it's her job to protect Tony from the woman that he loves? "Actually -- no." Bobbie shrugs. [YFU picks this with the delivery as the Line of the Day.] Carly goes in and overhears Tony saying "I understand that, Alexis." He hangs up and nosy Carly asks: "You're consulting with Alexis Davis?" Tony lies [he's not so perfect!] and says Alexis calls about information on pertinent cases. Carly tells him about running into Bobbie and that Bobbie was way out of line. Tony asks why she's ad\gitated. She wants him to come home early. They argue. Carly starts to cry, and Tony, stonefaced, asks what happened. She says it's crazy hormones. She usually feels strong and centered, because of him. He's the center of her world. He stares at her, stonefaced. She says she'll be a good wife. "I'm actually more concerned that you be a healthy mother-to-be." He tells her to go home. She's going to play the song he wrote for her. [Ooh, twisting the knife!] "Before you, Tony, nobody ever loved me enough, not to write a song for me." He has the grace to look embarrassed as she hugs him. 2. I LOVE PARIS Jason is in Paris. he talks to a crepe vendor who is one of his henchmen. Robin comes by and Jason hides and watchs her. After some banter with the henchman, she catches a glimpse of him. "Jason?" There's a stirring reunion moment. She wants to know what's wrong and he tells her about the shootout. Pete died [YFU notes that Jason took care of the families of Pete and Joseph, while Sinister Stefan has let George's son and wife worry and not know what happened. Who's the more despicable?] and Nik was hurt. Robin is unhappy that Jason's in the line of fire. However, she wants to enjoy the moment. They go to her room and he looks around, seeing her journal. She tells him about Jason Quartermaine and Paris. 3. THE END OF THE STORY? I WISH. Mac is on the phone, and learns that Jimmy has died in an accident. They announce it to Tess. She's upset, so Mac and Felicia go with her to Dunstan to identify the body. Felicia is worried that Mac will be upset. He says "You see one stiff, you've seen them all." The morgue attendant rolls out Jimmy's body. Turns out it's FELICIA who gets upset. She and Mac leave. "I don't want you to die!" Felicia wails. Tess and the morgue attendant unzip Jimmy, who gripes about the cold. "Do corpses have gooseflesh?" [Who would know better than Felicia?] Jimmy is pleased that Felicia is upset over "his" death. [YFU doesn't think Jimmy is the brightest bulb in the marquis, you know?]
