From: kbarry@cts.com (Kate Barry) Subject: GH: Update: Tuesday 11/18 Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 19:24:53 GMT GH Update for Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997 Stefan/Alexis S & A discuss the workers' strike in Djakarta. S lies that Ralston found George in Carpasos (sp.?) where there are no phones. After A leaves, we learn that Stefan had George's body flown to Greece for burial under a false name. [That music so like D. Byrne's "The Catherine Wheel" score plays here.] Luke/Jason Luke found a letter from Sonny in the club's safe along with the insurance policy. It allows for Luke to buy out Jason, or to simply ask J to get out. [Steve Burton has been slowly building up his mob-boss repertoire, and here he goes more Brando than Benard, replete with emotive hand gestures.] Jason explains how he sees the club as a bridge. [Great repetition of a theme for Jason.] Luke understands completely, recalling his days working for Frank Smith, where that nightclub was a bridge between the mob and the innocents. He tells Jason that he could easily be in J's seat right now and knows exactly what J is up against. They discuss war strategy, Jason calmly relying on economics for his survival (a hit on Sonny is worth a mill while J is only good for 50K). Morena is an obvious contender, but expansion is not cost-effective, and besides, there are many people loyal to Sonny's way and much better off for it. Eventually Luke makes his mind up. He prefers Jason to Moreno or others, and points out that Jason selling out of the club would be a sign of weakness and would definitely indicate that Sonny is gone. Upon learning that Robin is Jason's heir, Luke is even more sure, quipping, "you, Moreno, or Mac?". Jason can stay with Luke's, but they'll talk again in 6 months. Ned/Brenda/Jax/Dara Ned picks up Brenda at her house, noting the renovations she's begun, and they head to the Outback to lasso Dara. By the bar, Ned & Jax discuss the havoc wreaked by the strikes in Djakarta. Ned wants Jax to reveal his Cassadine mole, but Jax insists that this person specifically doesn't trust the Qs and will zip lips if Jax squeals. To appease Ned, Jax offers a paper trail to Ned's betrayer if he wants revenge. Meanwhile, at a table, with Ned popping in & out, Brenda plays record mogul, using all her skill to get Dara signed with L&B. Dara refuses, citing her career as D.A., not wishing to split her focus. Brenda offers only local gigs and no travel, playing small nightclubs and focussing on the CD, like Mary Mae's deal. B pulls out the big guns, asking Dara, "how do you feel after you perform?" compared to how she feels at the end of a workday. Dara is hooked, but still hesitant, so B offers a handshake & verbal agreement, to which Dara feels comfortable committing. Carly/Bobbie/Tony/AJ Carly's doctor tells Tony that she had had contractions due to dehydration and stress. T backs off from having an immediate wedding and tells AJ not to hang around Carly. In her hospital room, Carly talks to the baby in her belly, saying s/he'd given C quite a scare, but that everything would be fine. You know how she knows that? Because Baby's got the best Daddy in the whole world and is going to have a wonderful life. Nurse Bobbie overhears and, visibly moved, speaks gently to Carly, understanding how frightened C must have been. C is defensive, tearing up as B says that she sees herself from many years ago when she looks at C. She's been where C's been, but the difference is Luke. C has no family. B assures her that she would never wish her to lose her baby, it's a terrible thing. C hesitates, questioning, then stops herself. "Just ask me" Bobbie says. "How could you give up your own flesh and blood?", Carly queries earnestly, without malice. Bobbie takes the hit and confronts the question, explaining that she was 16, a hooker, the father an unknown john, and she wanted a better life for her child. "But you didn't know...why couldn't you just hope for the best and hang in there?" Carly persists. "Because things couldn't change for me, not at the time," Bobbie says frankly, before leaving, still surprised by the honesty and connection she and Carly had just shared. Meanwhile out in GH's halls, Tony blames himself for forgetting Carly's inexperience and youth, realising that she acts out of fear. AJ reassures him that Carly is very lucky to have him, and T insists that he's the lucky one. And they all lived happily ever after. -Kate PCMDT Turkey; FGC Jax, Luke; 1/2 the Tuesday Update Team
