Jax enters an antique store and questions the clerk
about an original set of something he wants to buy.
V. has arranged the purchase via phone and Jax goes
in the back to inspect it.

Brenda, who at least has good musical taste, listens
to Mary Mae's cd and stares pensively out the window.

At the Outback Luke talks to Jason.  He finds out that
he is now partners with Jason for an indefintie
period of time.  Jason tells Luke that Sonny is not
coming back.  Jason tries to talk about the club but
Luke asks when the MIB will figure out that Jason is
in charge and what kind of mess will be the result.
Jason says there is no way to tell but he'll do
whatever it takes not to let Sonny down.

In the hospital lobby, Amy talks to Bobbie about Tony's
latest patient, a gunshot wound that took over 7 hours.
Alan overhears this and asks nervously for the details.
It is obvious that he is worried that Jason is involved.  Bobbie
tries to reassure him.  Amy reminds him that he has a
lunch date with Monica so he leaves fondling his bottle
of pills.

Carly calls Lorraine, but Tony comes home and she
hangs up and tries to cosset him.  He brushes it off
and asks if Carly had a sonnogram at Mercy.  Carly
lays on the guilt and then denies it vehemently.
Tony worries over the baby's health and she reaasures
him.  Tony wonders why someone thought she had a
sonnogram.  [your updater prays for Tony to get a
clue already]

AJ and Monica meet for lunch at the Outback.  They
banter about his career.  Monica tells him that Alan
will be joining them.  They are both surprised to
see Jason in the resturant as well.

Jason asks Luke if he wants him out of the club.  He
will sell the shares if Luke wants him to....Luke says
he can't afford to buy Sonny out right now, and he
doesn't want another partner like Lucy who will leave
him for another soap.  Luke expects that Jason will
be fighting for his life soon, Sonny was a good teacher
but Jason only has two years  of training and upper
state NY is a very lucrative territory.  Everyone will
be coming after Jason, and even if Jason makes it
through the next six months there will bodies.  Luke
is willing to help Jason but he won't be a foot soldier
in Jason's first war.  Jason, seeing a strange man at
the door of the Outback, suggests that Luke leave now.

V arrives at Jax's penthouse to drop off messages before
her afternoon off.  V and Bren. have a nice chat about
sketching, Bren's careers *huh*, and so forth.  Bren. moans
about how different her life is now and V suggests
she start over.  [your updater screams at Bren to leave
and get a life already]  Jax comes in with a big, wrapped
box.  He asks V if Jerry has checked in and thanks her
for organizing his purchases.  V leaves and Jax gives the
box to Bren.

Luke  and Jason discuss the guy at the door who has
been tailing Jason.  Luke offers back up and goes to
the bar to get a drink.  [your updater wonders if Luke
always carries a gun, he must have one on him if he
is offering back up, right?]

AJ wonders if Alan is going to show up. Mon. suggests
that they invite Jason to join them, just then the stranger
walks over to Jason's table.  AJ says it looks like Jason
is busy.  Monica suggest it might be his accountant,
AJ --"I don't think so."

The stranger identifies himself as an associate of
Reese's and asks where Sonny is, Jason says as far
as he is concerned he 'is' Sonny and that the syndicate
should drop the contract since Rivera is dead.  If not
Jason will be sending Caulfield, Reese and all their friends
back in bags.  Caulfield doesn't react and one of Jason's
henchpersons escorts him out.  Alan has just come in
and watches this fascinating bit of byplay.  [and your
updater is glad Jason knew Caulfield's name]

Tony and Carly discuss the annon. call and Tony realizes
that it was from Lorraine.  Carly wonders, eyes widening.
[hmm, your updater wonders where on earth she gets that from]
why Lorraine would do such a thing.  Tony figures it must just
be Lorraine's jealous personality and Carly agrees.

Bren. thanks Jax for her very own first edition set of
Nancy Drew books.  Jax figures she'll peek at the endings
and Bren. admits she has done so in the past.  Jax bets
Bren. she can't read a book through without peeking.
[lucky for you, your updater's dogs started barking at this
point and woke her up]

Jason tells Luke about the contract out on Sonny, they
discuss Bren. and her safety which Luke could care less
about.  Jason says he is protecting Bren. on the sly for
Sonny.  He admits that things are going to get messy
but says he'll do his best to keep it away from the club.
Jason says he'll listen to Luke's advice but that is all
he wants from Luke.  Luke tells him to do what he needs
to do to stay alive and they are both satisfied with each
other.

Alan sits down with Monica and AJ.  Mon. asks them to be
civil for one lunch,  AJ says he can do that but Alan says
that until AJ is in rehab he has nothing to say to him and
stalks off to speak to Jason.

Alan asks Jason who the strange guy was and Jason is
silent.  Alan demands a response loudly.  AJ comes over
and tries to hush him but Alan rants on.  Mon. tries to
stop him, Alan yells "he has a gun" and tells everyone in the
resturant that Jason pulled a gun on him [months ago].
Monica gets Alan to leave, Luke comes back over and
discusses Alan with Jason.  Luke points out that now that
Sonny is gone Alan can't blame him anymore so he is just
more furious at Jason.

Outside the Outback, Alan explains to Monica that he
felt ambushed when he saw both his sons in there.  He
asks Monica to spend a romantic evening with him that
eve, and she agrees and leaves.  Alan takes a pill.

Amy invites Bobibie out with her and the girls for a good
gossip.  Bobbie declines and they discuss Carly.  Bobbie
tells Amy that Lorraine Miller is apparently Carly's
friend.  Amy isn't surprised, she hears Lorraine is a
horrible person, she steals pills, sells records; anything
for money.

Carly arrives at Mercy very mad at Lorraine.  They have
a nice threatening little spat.  No one wins.  Lorraine
points out that Carly still has problems because as soon
as that baby isn't born in December AJ will be demanding
a blood test.  Carly brushes this off unworried and they part.

Tony asks Alan about his hand and without an exam offers
to write him a new prescription since Dorman can't do it.
Alan goes home happy.  Bobbie asks Tony when his baby is
due, and he tells her January.

Jason plans to meet Luke later at the club to go over the
books and leaves, while Luke waits for Mac.

Bren. and Jax finish dinner.  Jax's total codependence
drives Bren to bed. [and your updater to tears]  He makes
a mysterious phone call to someone and speaks to
them about Bren.
