General Hospital--Monday Oct. 13, 1997

GH gym--
AJ and Carly are accidentally locked in the storage closet.
Carly pounds frantically at the door while AJ tries to remain
calm. She blathers on and on at him while he just gazes at her
silently.
He hasn't busted her to Tony so far, he finally responds to her.
But he's not keeping silent for her sake--maybe he has his own
reasons. He tells her that when he was a baby, his father didn't
believe that AJ was his real son. That caused a rift between them
that has never healed. Carly connects and tells him about her
"friend" who found out she was adopted in junior high. It was a
shock because her parents tried to keep it a secret. Carly's
"friend" always wondered why her real mother dumped her.
Carly admits that she misses their friendship. AJ tells her
that she was his first friend in sobriety, that's why her betrayal
hurt him so much. "Can't we just go forward?" she asks
plaintively. "We're not going anywhere," he answers in a flat
voice.

Jax's place--
Jax comes looking for his Brender, and rushes out when he
realizes she's escaped! She's stumbling around in the park,
half-dressed. No, she's not drunk, just suffering a true-love
hangover. She collapses on a bench sobbing and when Superman
finds her, she tells him about having flashbacks to her wedding
day (which one?) All she has is her beauty and her multi-million
dollar modeling contract--her life is so meaningless. Will she
always be alone? For the 587th time she promises Jax she does not
want to burden him with her problems. "Go ahead, burden me,
Brender," he breathes. "Put your tiny little head on my manly
well-muscled shoulders and let me take all your troubles away."
(Okay, I made that part up--but what he actually said amounts to
the same thing. We've all seen this scene so many times since
Brenda got The Big Dump that I'm sure you could all write the
dialogue yourselves.)
Back at the ranch, he gives her hot cocoa with marshmallows and
a collection of Nancy Drew books. She remembers how she used to
raid her sister's collection as a kid and read them on the sly.

GH again--the nurses' station--
Amy and Bobbie are gabbing. It's Tony and Bobbie's would-be
anniversary today. Amy remembers because it's the same day as her
cat Muffin's birthday. Amy believes they's still be together if
it wasn't for that trampy little home-wrecking sneak, Carly.
Bobbie isn't so sure--she and Tony had problems before that.
Stefan blusters over demanding something of Amy and Bobbie gets in
his face for decimating Kat at the board meeting.
Once he's gone, Tony rushes over and tells Amy to find someone
to cover for him immediately. He has to leave, it's urgent!
(He's reacting to the call he got from a swacked and pissed-off
Lorraine, informing him about the sonogram.)
Bobbie flashes back to some memories--good ones, of her wedding
day to Tony (she was a brunette then), and bad ones, of finding
Carly and Tony in the sack together at their mountain cabin.

The Outback--
Everyone congratulates Dara on her her successful singing debut.
Lonnie stalks Maxie and Felicia, trying to get the Indian doll.
Keesha is disappointed that AJ was a no-show, considering his
promise to show up. Emily tells her there must be a good reason
for him not being there--now that he's sober, AJ keeps his
promises. Keesha agrees, and goes to search for him.

GH once again--the storage room--
Carly and AJ hear Keesha calling from the gym and they tell her
they're trapped. She opens the door and is unpleasantly surprised
to see CArly stroll out, smirking at her. AJ explains how they
got stuck while Carly goes on and on about how attentive he was to
her. Keesha gazes from one to the other (is she finally starting
to get a clue? Oh, let it be so!). She seems to be holding back
some anger as she informs AJ that she was worried about him when
he never arrived at the club. In polite but measured tones she
answers his questions about Dara's show.

Carly and Tony's place--
Tony rifles through Carly's calendar checking for appointments,
but finds nothing unusual. Carly rushes in, full of explanations
for her lateness, but he stops her cold when he demands "Did you
have a sonogram at Mercy Hospital?" His beeper conveniently goes
off, giving her a chance to come up with a good story.

Kat's (former) office at GH--
Kat asks Luke what he's doing there. Luke taunts her about
"Count Vlad taking a bite out of her marshmallow heart." It's
all over town about her now--has she checked the internet lately?
No matter what Stefan did to her, Kat says she's not about to
become Luke's best friend. Luke picks up something from the
floor and dangles it in front of her (I think it's that crystal
tree thingy), telling her she needs all the friends she can get.
He enumerates Stefan's crimes--including that he shot her
"pretty little butt". She doesn't deny it. Luke reminds her of
all the suffering she endured after the shooting--does she just
want to lie down and let him roll over her again. She can stop
Stefan's game--all she has to do is speak up. It needs more than
that, Kat tells him. There has to be evidence. And that--anmely
the gun--is gone.
Luke reacts--what does she mean? Kat expalins that it
mysteriously disappeared from the police evidence room. Either
way, she does not plan to join forces with Luke.
Nothing if not obnoxiously persistent, Luke offers to help
carry some of her stuff to her car. At the elevator they run
into Drac and Igor getting off. Kat makes a point of sweetly
telling Luke how helpful he's being. Stef gives them a glacial
stare and stalks past. Luke ribs Kat--"Tell me that wasn't a
rush. He hates me, you know." Imagine the possibilities if they
were to team up.

--end of show--
