Subject: GH: Tuesday Update, 10/7 Date: 10/08 9:10 PM From: Kate Barry, kbarry@cts.com AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, DO YOU, MR. JONES?: Carly, sporting an overdue haircut, stalls debt-collecting Laraine. Lovey-dovey fiancee Tony surprises her with nursery furnishings and thanks her for helping him deal with his grief over BJ. The coup de gras: he's made an offer on an idyllic white-picket-fenced house on Claremont St. After some mush, he's beeped away and her face drops as she mutters how perfect the house would be were it far away from Port Charles. [Yes, dear, sure it would be.] DROWNING IN THE SEA OF LOVE: Happy, in-love, morning-gal Sarah irritates sulky Liz and floats off to school. Liz launches defensive maneuvers against Nik's imminent whistle-blowing. Using tears, self-pity, and Cassadine slander, she procures Audrey's promise of full support should Nik falsely accuse Liz, but not without a wise caveat should Liz be guilty. ...WHERE EVERYONE WOULD LOVE TO DROWN: Nik explains the suspension & Sarah's frame-up to Alexis & Stefan but still asserts his independence from his uncle on the issue of public schooling. He meets Sarah at the cafeteria for some gushy googlyness before going on to his meeting with the principal. An insinuating Lucky fishes for news of Sarah's virtue and jealously bashes Nik. Sarah uses the B-word (brother). SITTING IN THE BOARDROOM, THE I'M SO BORED ROOM: Edward behaves as tenderly and paternally to Kat as Tracy ever could have dreamed he'd treat her. Kat wants her job back, and aggressively argues that he champion her. He digs in and throws everything from poor dear Alexandria the Otter Pop to poor dear humiliated Brenda at Kat, but dammit, she's wearing her crystal tree necklace and chanting "Stefan loves me... he told me so...". Ed, of course, relents, and offers Stefan & Alexis the chance to privately reverse their decision prior to the GH Board meeting. ADAM RAISED A CAIN: Stubbly-headed, jet-lagged Luke gazes out the window as is his wont in the morning [Watchdog, anxiety, or restless boredom?]. Enter Bobbie and his hurrying son. Suspicious Dad asks "Since when do you quench at the fountain of knowledge?" and figures it must be "those cute little Webber girls". Bobbie supplies the scoop on Sarah & Nik, which appears to give Luke indigestion. Lucky protests too much that N&S are not a couple, and that she's just his friend and he's lookin' out for her. Luke says his mother wants him back in Switzerland, but, like Nik in another scene, this adolescent makes his own decisions. He's staying in PC. Father and son spar a bit about it until Lucky leaves for school. Luke: "Who the hell is that?" Bobbie: "Funny you should ask, I was thinking how much he reminds me of you." [In the best, SWATCHiest scene GH has shown in months, Luke & Bobbie now make unmistakable reference to The Rape, with Luke concerned that Lucky may exhibit some similar tendency:] Dead-serious Luke sits Bobbie down with him on the couch. Luke (earnest & thoughtful): "Barbara, when you say he reminds you of me, you mean specifically or the way he's interested in girls?" (subtle eyebrow punctuation) Bobbie: (gets it, widens eyes quickly to convey same) "Oh! Uh, no, I think more in general...he's in the throes of a wicked crush [...] broken heart [...]When you were nuts over Laura you were a grown man with a lot of experience. I think this is different." Luke: Well, I'm sure. He asks about Nik, and they bicker a bit about the family feud. Bobbie asserts unequivicably Nik's innocence in the exam matter, which Luke, of course, still doubts. He claims not to have influenced Lucky, that Jr. had made up his own mind about Nikolas just as she had. Bobbie thinks they're all unreasonable so Luke tells her not to discuss it with him, pick a new topic. She asks after Laura and is told that she loves Switzerland. It's clean, peaceful, quiet, and driving him batty but good for the women. Les & Lulu are great. And Luke? He managed to get out for a couple weeks to do a little business in Hong Kong [hmmmm, interesting]. He and Laura miss their kid, but she's really happy and smiles all the time... "But you don't, do you Barbara? There's a sadness in your eyes that wasn't there before I left. Is it Cassadine?" No, she sez, that was a big mistake, she never loved him so he can't hurt her. It's the other ex. Tony having a baby with Carly *really* hurts. Luke is soft and sympathetic. Bobbie, mellow, reflective, and resigned to carrying this new weight, unburdens herself to her big bro: [roughly paraphrased] It's not that I want Tony back, I loved this summer with our boys...it's just that we tried for so long in our relationship [to adopt a baby] and couldn't, and five minutes into their relationship Carly hits the jackpot. It's such a cosmic joke I don't get. He must really love her. I thought it was just sex or a midlife crisis. After BJ died Tony wanted no part of having kids. [For example, the Ward House baby] I'm happy for Tony, he'll make a great dad. Something is said about birth control failing and Luke points out that Carly would have stacked those odds. He tells her he's sorry. She sez she'll get over it. She has to go to work. "Oh no!" he protests. She gives him a smile, a bear hug, and a welcome back which your achy-fingered updater most heartily seconds. -Kate PCMDT Co-Captain FGC Jax, Luke
