UPDATE THURSDAY AUGUST 21

First, let's get the boring stuff outta the way...

Ia. Brenda is so excited that Sonny's actually proposing on his knees and
all. Awww, so Romantic. He gives her his mother's ring, saying they'll get
another soon. "Your Mom wants me to wear this." She talks about her
wedding dreams. Jason comes in and they tell him they're engaged and he
most unJasonly tells them comgratulations.

Jason tells Sonny that he, Sonny, has given the impression that he's
weak. Meanwhile, BrainDead can't even decide on her wedding dress
without Sonny's help. (She's dithering on the phone with the designer.)
Sonny wants to keep things cool till after the Wedding.

The Tin Man, with traces of quicksand still clinging to his clothing,
[no, I'm kidding] boards a plane. He doesn't want a return flight.

Ib. V is sitting at her table worrying over job applications. A delivery
person brings a big box of art supplies. Jax hops in after it. They
argue for a while, but she ends up accepting it.

Ic. Stefan is uptight over Nik going to Port Charles High School. Alexis
teases: who knows he might wear his baseball cap backwards, or, even,
start to rollerblade, right into social equality. Stefan thinks it is no
laughing matter. He praises Katherine. Alexis agrees that without her
Nik could be slinging hash in Montana. "Slinging hash." Stefan intones.
He is NOT amused. He tells her about Sarah "who seems quite
well-mannered. Of course, she's not Our Sort." Stefan feels quite
encouraged about the future of the family. Alexis suggests a separate
entrance for Nik. She also mentions that George-the-Caretaker is flying in.
Stefan leaves.

Later he calls Alexis. She is at the hotel, and Ned approaches her.
"Are you a gift to me from the Universe?" (Ned's just been told off by
the family, which will be detailed later.) "I beg your pardon, I thought
you were Ned Ashton. He asks her to have a drink. He tells her how his
family does all the wrong things. They discuss gatekeeping. Ned
suggests running away. Or coming home with him. She says Stefan is
expecting her. He leaves. She ponders for a moment, then leaves as well.

II: THE UNRAVELLING
A. AT THE HOSPITAL

Carly comes up to Tony in the hospital. (Bobbie the B***h is watching).
He encourages her about AJ. AJ and Keesha talk about the night. She
doesn't believe he was drunk. "What's the last thing you remember?" She
points out that his hangovers are different. Keesha calls Jason over
(he's getting his stitches out.P AJ & Jason talk. AJ tells him that he,
AJ, doesn't care, either. Jason says he should "lay low" for a couple of
days. Tony takes Jason off.

Keesha and Carly talk. Carly says she shouldn't have sent AJ to dinner
alone. She tells Keesha that she and Tony are getting married. Bobbie
the B. overhears. Keesha congratulates her and leaves. Bobbie can't
help herself (gee, she was Slapping Team Fodder this day!) and comes up:
"What I don't get is how you ever keep track of all your lies ... you and
Tony getting married? What a crock!" Bobbie tut-tuts that they're
pregnant without marriage. [Miss Family Values, all of a sudden.] She
raves on: "You'd step on your own grandmother if she was in your way."
Carly pushes past. Bobbie says she's only watching out for Tony. Carly
points out that that is what's killing Bobbie, that Tony doesn't belong
to her any more. "You got bored with your billionaire exotic whatever
in about ten seconds and you thought for sure Tony would be bored with me
so you thought you'd just crook your little finger & he'd come running
back to you? You're wrong again, Bobbie." [You GO, Carly!] Bobbie says
it's friendship. She denies wanting Tony back. She says Carly hooked
him at a vulnerable point [and who was to blame for that, Bobbie?] "If
you think he's going to marry you, forget it. That is never going to
happen." AJ comes up and tells Bobbie the wedding's just around the
corner. He reminds Bobbie that she's a good friend to his mother [not
mentioning the semi-affair with his dad] "If you could just let go of
your bitterness and just be a little happy for Tony and Carly... you
might find out who she really is." Bobbie apparently doesn't realize
what a harridan/harpy she's being, when she responds "I already know what
kind of person she is." [Your Fearless Updater was amused that AJ hit it
right on the nose with "who" she is, not "what kind of person".] Bobbie
stalks off. AJ hugs Carly. She says the drinking was her fault. He
denies it. She'll help with the rehabilitation.

Mrs. Perez and Jimmy come in. Carly moves them aside and then gets rid
of AJ.

Meanwhile, Bobbie the B. finds out from Tony that he and Carly are really
getting married. He's absolutely sure. B the B asks how CAN he be: "the
lies, the schemes..." [It's what he's used to, Bobbie, all the comforts
of home!] "she's already driven you away once." Tony tells her not to be
judgemental. She shouldn't throw stones. Bobbie Widens Her Eyes. "I'm
not throwing stones, I'm trying to avert a disaster." [It's times like
these when Bobbie reminds me of BrainDead. Would she have been in such a
hurry to divorce Stefan if she hadn't thought Tony would be waiting for
her with open arms?] "Well," says Tony, "I don't need your services for
that. Snd by the way, I don't need your help with my life choices,
either." Bobbie says Carly is a disaster all by herself and huffs off.

Mrs. Perez is angry at Carly. "You gave him a bribe." Jimmy looks
innocent...[Mrs. Perez is going to have her hands full with this kid in
the future!] Carly explains herself. She offered Jimmy the gum to go
inside.

B. AT THE QUARTERMAINES

Emily storms into the Quartermaine living room saying "don't you DARE
call my brother a drunk!' to Ned. She says she is like AJ. Monica wants
to take her out. Edward thinks this is a good idea, he's been saying for
months that this little girl needs more sunshine. "Stop handling me!"
yells Emily. Lila intervenes. "What is it you need?" Emily needs for
everyone to stop acting like she is going to break when she walks into a
room. And AJ needs everyone to stop using him for someone to blame. She
wants Ned to stop acting like he's king of this family. And she wants to
see AJ right now.

Alan comes in. Monica tells Emily about finding a drunk AJ. Ned starts
to explain and Monica tells him to shut up. Emily wonders if anyone even
cares. Alan and Monica soothe her and she leaves. Ned says "I tried"
and Alan says "Oh, shut up, Ned. Nobody expects you to do anything. You
have no experience with children." Ned blames the family for Lois
leaving with the baby. He starts out, but Lila stops him. She tells him
she appreciates his gatekeeping. He must take care of himself, too. Ned
leaves.

Keesha goes to the Quartermaines', where Edward flirts with her. Keesha
insists that this time it's different with AJ. They discuss it till Lila
starts to cry. Keesha tells them not to give up on AJ. Later, Monica
and Alan discuss AJ. Emily goes to see him.
