Date: Thu, 28 Aug 1997 21:21:20 -0600 From: ninapie@ntcnet.com Subject: GH: UPDATE for Monday, August 18, 1997 X-Article-Creation-Date: Fri Aug 29 02:16:03 1997 GMT General Hospital Update for 8/18/97 Previously on GH: Monica and Alan kiss and Make up on their anniversary/ Carly slips AJ a mickey finn Port Charles Police Dept-- JAx, V, Brenda and Sonny trail into the office. Sonny demands to know why they're here--charges were dismissed against them in Florida. Taggert gives him a hard time. Dara informs them that the charges have indeed been dropped, they just need to sign some papers. Sonny swaggers around while Jax acts like a perfect @sshole, (and plummets in my estimation from a innocuous pretty boy to a repulsive wretch) and reams out Taggert, Garcia and Dara like they were "the help" and threatening their jobs as Bren-DUH smirks like a moron in the Editorial aside--What were these people *thinking* who allowed this scene to go through as played? Didn't it strike anyone on the scene that this little display smacked of racism? Spoiled rich white boy treats public servants like they were on the plantation. Even for GH, this was really low. Some other crap happens--and of course, there is an obligatory scene of Jax-ass slobbering all over the DUH. V got through this scene with the least damage, waiting hopefully for Jax-ass to stop bragging about his wealth and magnificence until he finally gets around to thanking her. V bumps into her former supervisor, who wants to meet with her. Jax tries to put in a good word for her. AJ's apartment-- Carly has hidden an unconscious AJ in a giant laundry cart (though we never see how such a little slip managed to pick up a grown man and place him inside). She apologizes to him, although he can't hear, saying that she is ony doing what she has to. As she wheels the cart into the hall she is spotted by a little boy who wants to know what she is doing. What's he doing out so late, Carly counters. She's doing some laundry--but the little smart@ss answers that it's too late for that, he happens to know the laundry room is locked for the night. Whatever. Little Miss Power-Lifter promises the nosy brat that she'll buy him some super-mega-exploding bubble gum if he keeps his little yap shut. Later, Carly dumps AJ in the alley--crying, she explains aloud that she has no choice. She has to proect her baby. She doesn't want her child to ever feel unwanted, like she and AJ both have felt. She doesn't want her baby to know it may have been the result of a one night stand, as Carly herself was. She empties a bottle of vodka, pouring it over him and crying "I'm sorry" before she runs away. Sonny's apartment-- Jason is waiting for Sonny and the Duh. Mike practically has to hijack girlfriend so the two "men" (and I use the term ever so loosely) can do their male-bonding thing. Jason wants back into the mob. He wants his life to be as meaningless as Sonny's is. (Oh, wait, I guess he didn't put it quite that way.) While Sonny tries to tell Jason he wants to protect him, Jason says he wants to make his own choices. In the hallway, Brenda enters a hallucinatory state of being and takes complete leave of reality by discussing how Sonny will fix all the problems between Jason and Robin. Sonny will also fix all the problems that he and Brenda face. Sonny will also solve world hunger, nuclear proliferation and the budget deficit, because Sonny is God. (No, not really.) Then, simpering, she tells Mike that Sonny asked her to marry him. After a whole lot of rigmarole, Sonny takes pity on Jason and lets him return to the fold. Q mansion-- Edward blunders and blusters at finding Monica alone on her anniversary--she and Alan are surely heading for divorce court. I don't know what drugs the writers were taking, because a nasty thread is occuring in the show today--Edward commands Justus to find Alan. *"Excuse me?"* Justus exclaims, while Ed sputters that he can't send Ned because Alan would kill him. At this Alan enters, explaining that all is well between him and Monica. The family enjoys a celebration while Edward tries to remove the foot from his mouth. A call interrupts the festivities. Alan speaks to Carly, who disguises her voice with a fake Southern accent. She reports that she's a neighbor of AJ's who spotted him passed out drunk behind the building. Alan looks sick. Alan and Monica rush to the scene. "My God, AJ!" Monica runs to him and kneels beside him. Alan looks away, sick at heart. Meanwhile at home, Carly cries and hugs herself, rocking on the sofa, torn up with guilt. --end-- I'm sorry if this update seemed full of bile--I just thought that today was a particularly hateful show-- Nina P. -------------------==== Posted via Deja News ====----------------------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Post to Usenet
