Update for General Hospital, Monday, August 4, 1997--

Despite several revelations today, this show seemed
anti-climactic--

Previously on GH: Sara and Nik dirty-danced at the Bar-b-q
Sonny and Brenda met the Tin Man and his boss

Scene--the docks
Stef and Nik, post-party. Stef-man is waiting for "the
launch" to take him back to Spoon Island. He and Nik have a
stilted conversation--Stef tries to make nice while Nik seems
distracted. (We can guess who he's thinking about, can't we?)
Stef notices that Nik seems to be waiting for someone--Nik get
"tetchy" at the implication. Stef backs off, then mentions that
Sheba, as well as Alexis and Mrs. Whatsername, miss him. Nik
misses them too, but prickles when he thinks Stef wants him to
move back to Windy-mere. Stef soft pedals the idea, instead,
only inviting him to come around for a visit.

Audrey's house--
Sarah is greeted by her cigarette smoking,
chick-with-a-bad-attitude sister, Elizabeth. She lectures sis
on the dangers of smoking, to say nothing of Audrey's reaction
to the coffin nails. We viewers learn that if Sarah says white,
Lizzie says black. One is the good sister, the other the
trouble-maker. Lizzie explains she ran away from the family
entrusted to care for her because she didn't want to feed their
dog, or some such thing. (Wait til Gatsby get ahold of this
chick--he'll reduce her to cat-chow!) Audrey emerges from the
house and spies ElizaBRAT there--"What on earth are you doing
here?"
Brat tells Gram how put-upon she was at the Johnson's.
Audrey welcomes her to stay. She notices the tension between
the two girls and tries to tell ElizaBRAT how she used to argue
with her own sister, Lucille. Bratsie rudely puts her Grandma
off and tells her she wants to go to bed. She's none too
pleased to learn she'll be sharing a room with Sarah.
When alone, Sarah moons over memories of Nik (Mr. Happy
Hands) groping her during their little dance. At the docks, we
see Nik apparently doing some mooning of his own.

   At the Quartermaine's--
Alan tells Monica that he knows she killed Dorman. Monica
denies it, finally telling him the "truth"--that EMily killed
Dr. D. She recounts that night: she was searching for Emily,
afraid Dorman might hurt her. In a black and white flashback,
Monica finds Dorman dead, as well as finding the locket that
Brenda gave to Emily and the bloody scalpel. Picking the
objects up, she brushes against the body and got blood on her
sleeve--the blood Emily noticed later that evening. As Monica
is finishing up the story, Emily walks in. "You think I killed
Dorman?" she cries, overhearing what she wasn't meant to.
Then she starts to remember and tell her own version of
events. That eveing when she saw Dorman get off the elevator,
he threatened her. In another b&w flashback scene, she recalls
following him to the morgue and overhearing him talking to
someone. She confronted him about Matt and the diary, but he
pushed her away, which was how the locket got broken. She ran
away into an operating room and picked up a scalpel, wanting to
kill him. But on returning to the morgue, she found him already
dead. She dropped the scalpel in his blood and got it on
herself. She didn't kill him, but she's glad he's dead.
The Qs are all relieved that Emily did not do the deed. Ned
feels they should go to the police once the dust settles--maybe
they can help clear Brenda. Hugs all around as Em thanks them
all for trying to protect her. Ned escorts Em up to bed and
Monica hugs Alan, grateful they can put this all behind them.
Alan doesn't look too sure. He's still angry that she kept all
those secrets from him. Monica tries to give her side, but he's
not interested. As she goes upstairs to wish Em good night, he
gulps some pills.

  On the atoll--
Jax and V are rescued by local police! They strike a
deal--she will say noting of Jax's fugitive status if he agrees
to take her along to Tiger Key. After some bantering, he
agrees, giving her a loud Hawaiian shirt to wear so she'll look
more tourist-y and blend in better among the locals. V tries to
reassure him that they will find Brenda and help her.

  The Mansion in Tiger Key--
Sonny and Brenda are shocked to see that their nemesis is
none other than Senor Rivera, Lily's father and Sonny's one-time
Pop-in-law. But he was supposed to be dead! Sonny tells Bren
he thought the old guy offed himself with a gun that Sonny gave
him, upon realizing he had killed his own daughter. sonny says
he should have realized who he was dealing with upon hearing the
strains of "Rigoletto" the opera playing in the background. The
opera's plot mirrors the real-life situation--a man means to
kill his enemy and instead kills his daughter. The Tin Man
scoffs that the "Padrino" will not die until he is assured that
Sonny and Brenda lie in the ground along with Lily.
Rivera threatens them with a gruesome death until Sonny
sucker punches Tin Man and tries to pull Brenda along with him.
Dopey Brenda runs in the other direction (to get the gun dropped
by Tin Man) but she is grabbed by the big guy as Sonny gets to
Rivera and hold a gun to the old man. Rivera's guys bust in and
there is a Reservoir Dogs-like standoff. Tin Man holds a gun to
Brenda's head while sonny does the same to Rivera. Rivera's
guys are pointing guns at Sonny. The girl will die unless Sonny
drops the gun. Finally, Sonny complies. Then he falls to the
floor as Rivera's man whacks him on the head with a gun. Brenda
screams as the Tin Man taunts her. He forces her to drink
something--she chokes and grimaces, then falls, a la Juliet on
top of Romeo's (Sonny's) outstretched form.

End of show
