Date: Tue, 22 Jul 1997 08:11:14 -0600 From: ninapie@ntcnet.com Subject: GH: UPDATE monday July 14, 1997 X-Article-Creation-Date: Tue Jul 22 12:53:03 1997 GMT GENERAL HOSPITAL UPDATE 7/14/97 Previously on GH: Alan's concerned about Emily; Stefan knocks down Nik; and Jason and Robin get shot at At Wyndemere--Stef and Nik Stefan tries to awaken Nik. "Engage final sequence" his computer beeps. "Begin equation immediately. Countdown continues." At his own computer, Luke stares in amazement as he watches the countdown tick away and nothing else happens. Stef calls an ambulance for Nik while the computer keeps nagging him. Stef bangs the phone down and races to the machine. Too late. (Nyah nyah). "Program aborted", HAL reports. "Program destruction complete." "No!" Stefan thunders. Alexis rushes in and sees Nik unconscious on the floor. Luke sits back in his chair and smiles, sighing in relief. Nik is rushed to GH by the EMTs. Stef follows the kid into the ER. When Nik opens his eyes his uncle tells him "You're going to be all right." Nik stares at him. "Get away from me." Later, Stef tells Alexis what went down that night. Can they retrieve the program? she wonders. It's destruction is irrevocable, Stef reports in one of those Cassadinian multi-syllabic sentences. Alexis tells him they can develop another one. "Your optimism is admirable, but misplaced," he replies. Dr. Somebody (he's Asian--my God, when was the last time we saw an Asian person actually playing a doctor on a soap?) comes in and informs them that NIk has suffered a concussion and while in no danger, should stay overnight. Stef sends his cuz home to rest. As long as Nik stays in the hospital, he will. Stef goes into the room where Nik sleeps. "I can lose anything, Nikolas," he confesses. "Except you." Back at Wyndemere. Alexis gazes at the blue screen on the computer. She picks up the champagne glass next to it. "To the Cassadine future," she toasts without drinking. Then she decisively claps the computer top shut. Awake, Nik tells Nurse Rebecca that he does not want to see his uncle. Mac's house--Robin and Jason Robin, on the floor, calls out to Jason. He tells her to stay where she is--does Mac have a gun? Maybe at his office, Robin answers, but not here at home. Jason stands near the window. He looks out. "I can't see anything. I think it's clear." Robin puts her hand to her mouth as she sees the gunshot wound on Jason's abdomen. She huddles on the sofa and Jason says, "You're bleeding. Are you all right?" "Jason, your stomach!" she cries. He tells her to call 911. She does and asks them to send police. Then she crawls over to him. "we've got to stop the bleeding!" "It hurts." Jason reaches for her. "Don't touch me!" she cries, remembering her HIV+ status. "You have an open wound, you can't touch me." She presses a sofa pillow to his wound and cries out when she sees how bad it is. "Who did this to you?" Jason mutters "The Tin Man." At GH and all 'round the town-- Mac, Jax, Nurse Rebecca, Bobbie and the Lukester Jax urges Nurse Becky to work with him to identify Dorman's killer. Becky is upset that Jax has already shared some of the information she has given him and she refuses to identify a picture of the Tin Man. He and Mac plead with her to trust them. She reminds them that the last man she trusted was Pierce Dorman. Before she hooked up with him, she was completely anonymous and that hurt. But she would gladly return to that now. Bobbie calls Luke from the GH lobby, eager to know "what happened" . He tells her, smugly, "absolutely nothing". When she learns that Nik was hurt in the melee, she rushes over to Luke's place. She wants nothing to do with his plans if it means hurting anybody, even a Cassadine. As Bobbie and Luke go round on this, there is some cute cutting back and forth to scene of Sarah and Lucky talking on her front steps. They are having a pretty dopey conversation, the gist of which I will spare you. We do learn that Luke started the stable fires by short-circuiting the computers at the Cassadine place. (Okay, if you say so.) The scene ends with the siblings hugging over their triumph over the nasty Cassadines. Back at GH, after much badgering by JAx, Becky identifies the Tin Man as the one who visited Dorman at the hospital. Q mansion--Alans, Emily, Monica and Ned (a.k.a. "The Snake") Alan tells Em: "Tell me why you think you're going to lose Monica." Em doesn't want to talk. Alan says he can't turn away when he sees how much pain she's in. She feels awful--the Qs would be so much better off without her, she's made everything worse, she took drugs, etc. Alan tells her how glad they all are that she's part of the family. Won't she please tell him what's troubling her? He'll do anything he can to help. Monica pushes open the doors. "Alan, stop pushing Emily." Snakey slithers in behind her. Alan is upset that they were interrupted--he was making progress with Em. The girl leaves at Monica's request. Monica tells him that she know's what's wrong with Emily, and wants to tell him herself. The Snake looks worried and is about to open his yap, when Monica announces that Emily is afraid of losing any more people in her life. People keep dropping out of her life, her mother, Jason, etc. They have to give her breathing room. Alans says that as her parents, they have to move to protect her. Monica and Ned (feeling compelled to offer his two cents) disagree. Ned gets a call on his cell phone. It's Robin, informing him that Jason has been shot and rushed to GH. Outside the door, Emily, who has been listening, cries "No!" At GH-- Mike runs in and meets MAc--Robin called him--doesn't he know? Jason has been shot. Robin hurries in behind Jason, carried in on a stretcher. Mac grabs her--what happened, did she see who shot them? Robin answers that she saw nothing--she tired to help Jason, but she couldn't get her blood on him. "I couldn't touch him, Uncle Mac," she weeps. Mac hugs her. "He can't die now," she cries. "we were just making plans for the future." Mac leads her to a chair. She needs to tell him what happened, while it's still fresh. She recounts the evening, culminating in the gunshot, the shattered vase, and Jason pushing her to the floor. "It sounds like he saved your life." "He did." Robin then tells her uncle that Jason said the Tin Man shot him. MIke tries to comfort her as Ned, Alan and Monica hustle in. No one knows what Jason's condition is. The Qs are shocked to learn that the shooting happened in Mac's living room, and that Jason was an intended victim. A doctor comes out and tells them that while the bullet missed any vital organs, that there is heavy internal bleeding. Does anyone know who shot him? Ned wonders. "Some hood," Alan spits out. "Some hoodlum like sonny Corinthos. He's been a blight on this city even since he arrived here. He's literally contaminated my son and now he's nearly killed him." "Listen Doc," MIke puts in "I know you're upset, but Sonny would give his life for Jason." "He has used Jason to his advantage, just as he has used everyone who's ever crossed his path. If Jason dies, it will be just as if Sonny pulled the trigger." Mike explodes. "How dare you, you self-righteous--" "Stop it!" Robin screams. "Sonny didn't do anything to Jason. He chose it, he chose that life." "What are you talking about?" Alan demands. "He doesn't have a choice, he's impaired. Sonny used that to his advantage." "well, maybe that's not what you would choose for Jason. But in spite of anything he's done, Sonny is the best person I know." (That sound you hear in the background is me vomiting.) "He has never lied, not even to help himself." (His whole ****ing life is a lie, dear.) "Can any of the rest of us say that? I seriously doubt it." Monica sees none of this is helping the situation. She draws Alan aside. He's a ghost. "We're surrounded by all this technology and medical knowledge, and I feel so helpless. I'm so afraid my son is going to die." In a private moment, Ned tells Monica that he's pleased with the way she handled Alan at the house. (Oh, yes, Snakey, we must avoid the truth at all costs, mustn't we?) Monica is hopeless. She feels she has rescued one child only to lose another. Has she made some kind of pact with the devil. At that moment, the doctor enters the room with news of Jason. Everything goes slo-mo as Robin moves toward him, eyes wide with apprehension.
