UPDATE THURSDAY JUNE 19

1. Brenda and Sonny kiss.  They talk about breakfast.  *Yawn.*  He
invites her back to his place after the Nurses' Ball.  She asks about Lily.
Taggart and Garcia come by.  The hair sample matches.  Brenda jumps in,
stupidly pleased.  She tells the cops about switching the hair samples.
Sonny is disbelieving.  They are planning to take Brenda down to the
station.  Sonny is angry, BrainDead is smug.  She tries to explain.

Meanwhile, we the viewers get to see Taggart and Garcia quite busily NOT
setting Brenda up.

2.  Katherine wheels herself to the door.  (I miss the little we saw of Mary
Scanlon before they whooshed her off to PC.)  It's Mac.  They talk about
his losing the Police Commissioner job.  They'll go to the Nurses' Ball
together.  Katherine has Been Inspired (cue the Inspirational Music,
Maestro!) by Robin.  Your Fearless Updater needed the nap anyway.

3. At Kelly's, Lucky and Ruby and Luke are talking.  Lucky asks Luke
about the Plan.  [Which seems as unfocussed as Stefan's, actually.  Good
thing they aren't up against Alexis, they'd be toast.] Luke has Bobbie
working with them.  Lucky is delighed.  Ruby brings muffins.  Bobbie
comes in.  [Completely unworried that Stefan will clue into this.  She's
been seen all over town with her brother.  Of course, Stefan is so
totally unclueful these days it's hardly surprising.] Sarah comes in for
Ruby's strawberry-rhubarb pie, which Lucky orders.  He introduces Ruby
and sarah.  Luke didn't know about Sarah, but now he understands Lucky's
sudden venture into civic responsibility.  Luke wants to meet Sarah, but
refuses to be uncool.  Bobbie tells Luke that Stefan changed the
password.  They agree to continue the pretense of hating each other.
[This is why they're meeting in public like this.]

Ruby, who was apparently picking the strawberries and baking the pie,
finally gets back with it, and Luke meets Sarah.  Lucky and Sarah treat
him like, well, someone's father, and leave.  Luke asks Bobbie: "Did I
grow horns?"  "What you grew is a teenage son!"  "When did I get to be
such a drag?"  Luke finds it hard to believe Lucky wouldn't want "even
him" around.  [Lessee, Bobbie's 40, Luke is older, about time he got
through addled-essence, yes?]  Bobbie leaves.

4.  In the only story Your Fearless Updater was really interested in,
Carly calls Tony, but he's gone.  The bell rings, and she bounces to the
door, but it's only AJ.  He has a petition for better recycling centers.
[Boy, this episode is just full of civic activism!]  He sees Carly is
packing [her suitcases, not a gun!]  She tells him, crying, that she told
Tony she was leaving.  AJ consoles her.  He tells her to let things lie.
AJ asks what Carly told Tony.  Carly, natch, lies.

AJ leaves, and Tony comes and tells Carly he doesn't want her to go.
However, he doesn't commit, and she is determined.  She will leave right
after the Nurses' Ball.  She'll let Tony know when the baby is born.
[You go, girl!] Tony wants to work it through.  "You can't walk away from
my responsibilities."  "I won't be held hostage to them, either."  She
needs him to want her for herself.  Carly talks about growing up.  Tony's
seen changes in her: "the Carly upgrade."  He leaves.

AJ comes back for the petition and offers to take Carly to the Nurses' Ball.

[Your Fearless Updater knows this couple is doomed, but is sneakily
rooting for them anyway.  It's possibly my favorite couple, after certain
Q combinations. I want them to have some happiness before the house of
cards comes tumbling down.]
