...and apologies for its lateness.

Today, we got a crossover from PC, in the form of Lucy Coe who showed
up to commandeer the Steve Hardy Library for a series of meetings, re: the
Nurses' Ball.
Early on we learned that Amy promoted herself to a producer's role for
this year's engagement. Lucy, on edge due to Serena's PC kidnapping,
didn't take the news well - who was going to be her "dresser," if not
Amy? No worry, Gina volunteered to fill the perpetually blonde nurse's
shoes.
For the next meeting, Mac showed up to inform Ms. Lucy that Robin
wouldn't be able to make it to the ball, due to finals. And her third
meeting of the day involved Katherine, who, when she saw how distraught
her nemesis was, made a sincere offer to help. When Lucy told Kat the
best thing she could do would be to resume normal relations and start
a catfight, Katybell obliged.

Not that she was having that great a day herself. Earlier in the show
(well, the end of yesterday's, really), Stefan surprised her at the
swimming pool of his country estate (his country estate?) when Nik
brought her there for hydro-therapy and promptly vanished. It was an
Uncomfortable Moment. The star-crossed lovers gazed longingly at each
other and spoke of Nikolas (Stefan feared his nephew's Americanization).
Finally, Stefan went down on bended knee and planted a big, wet one
on her. Katherine eventually pushed him off, we got some more sappy
dialogue & he left. (Mind you, he came back later to sniff the chair
she'd been lounging in. I kid you not.)

At PCPD HQ, the boys in blue spent the day taking hair samples - or trying
to, anyway - when Sonny and Jason, with Brenda (oh, my) arrived to be
clipped. Garcia and Taggert were *thrilled* to see them, and a pissing
match ensued. Brenda, not having the proper instrument to play, filched
an evidence baggie while the boys all had eyes only for each other.
Garcia and Taggert snuck away for a moment alone, then re-engaged for
round two; as Brenda placed her own hair sample into the baggie, Taggert
pulled out Lily's ghost and poor Alejandro 'bout went ballistic and
ordered his partner to never speak of Lily again. This did not go unnoticed
by Sonny, Lily's widower.
Things settled down some, Sonny got his snipping and while Jason was
waiting for his turn, Brenda talked him into creating a distraction once
it did. As Nurse Chase entered the scene, Jason used her presence to
create a scene of his own and Brenda, who coulda been a professional
shoplifter, switched Sonny's hair sample for her own. Once everyone
calmed down, Sonny thanked her for staying out of the fray.

Ned and Alexis had a real date. She arrived at the Outback to find him
crooning away on the lounge piano and was impressed. When they sat
down for drinks, there was the usual cat and mouse game of Ned trying
to find out personal information, and Alexis deflecting the questions
with vaguaries. Finally, they called a truce and set about enjoying
themselves. After more witty small talk, Ned was amazed to find
that Alexis had never been to a real, honest-to-goodness county
fair (they have those on Greek Islands? who knew?), so he promised
to take her to one (attn: Continuity Dept--August/September approaches).
Just as a tender moment between the Gatekeepers approached, so
did Officer Andhowdoyouspellhernameanowski, whose clatter
broke it up.

Misc note 1: Jax's day consisted of being part of Lucy's meetings,
but having no real role in them other than writing checks and allowing
us to see Officer A shadowing him, finding out that Mac got a letter
from Miranda, making a little peace with Mac, and learning that Mac
was now renting Miranda's old apartment to Officer A.

Misc note 2: Isn't it sad that Jax seems to have become a misc note?
