Subject: GH Update for Wed, 5/7 Date: 05/08 5:40 PM From: Mary Brace, djmaryb@mindspring.com Q house Ed, Lila, Ned & Alan are discussing the family's current PR woes - AJ, Emily, and now mobster-widow Tracy. Ned informs his relatives about the Tracy situation and Jax's threats to whisper in the FBI's ears if he's not let back on the ELQ board. Enter Monica and Alice, the family counselor, who gets to witness a typical Quartermaine morning — Edward: "Let her try somewhere else, it's a big house." Monica: "It's MY house." Alan: "I gave it to you." ... Monica: "We're going to make a safe, peaceful environment for that girl if it kills all of us." Edward: "Well, now, have you thought about a boarding school?" — and while that exchange and all that went with it was a treat for us viewers (classic Q at its best), Alice was alarmed, and with great 'tude called the clamor to a halt. Hospital, Emily's room Jason pops in; it's Emily's check-out day, and she's a little frightened at having to show her face in the real world, where people can't get fired for pointing you out for gossiping about your o.d. (naive, no?). She's envious of Jason's arrogance, and notes that she and AJ care too much about what others think of them. Jason gives Emily his pager number, and offers to visit and get her out of the Q house whenever she wants. Before he leaves, he gives Emily her charm bracelet that he found in the park. Nurses' Station Tony and Justus yack about hospital/Ward House biz, and segue into Lucas custody talk; Carly is there to overhear Tony say he wants to drop the issue, and that he thinks it all may soon be resolved, anyhow. She then follows Justus to the elevator, schmoozes him, and wanders off. Bobbie wanders up to Tony, and with big, blinking eyes and wide smile, asks him not to pretend he didn't watch her heart break the night before. He agrees, then leaves. Lighthouse Lucy is at her Luciest, laying plans for the Nurses' Ball. She runs her ideas by Kevin, including her fondest wish for a Sonny/Mike revue. He is skeptical, and saved by the doorbell. Kind of. It's Felicia. And she wants to talk privately to Kevin. Lucy sends Kevin to the kitchen for coffee, and asks Felicia what she's up to. Felicia: "If Stefan is after me, he's using a mainframe computer, and Kevin works for him. He knows all that stuff." Lucy warns her bestest friend in the world to be careful, then exits when Kevin returns with the joe. Qs Alice is telling the family they're going to have to curb the "recreational activity," though Ned points out Emily will see a polite Q family as a lie. So why not make it the truth, she asks. Emily's room AJ comes in as Jason leaves, and asks about the bracelet; when she explains how she lost it, she starts to break down and tells him about Matt's upcoming funeral, and Mrs. Reynolds' accusations. The all-new, improved AJ tries to help her see that the woman was just lashing out for the first, best target, and partly succeeds; when he threatens to find the punk who got her on drugs and beat 'em to a pulp, Emily confides that he'd be looking for a dead man, and as she recounts their use, concludes that Matt's o.d. *was* her fault, and loses it again. (Updaters' note: Amber Tamblyn was perfect in this scene.) Nurses Station *I missed most of this scene because WKRN's tech dept. goofed their EAS test*, but what I did see, was Lucy on a cell phone, saying "Scott Baldwin? Are you sure?" Next, we see her getting off the phone, and rejoicing to Lee that Serena (the daughter she bore for Scott and Dominique) is coming for a visit. Lighthouse Felicia quizzes Kevin on where he thinks the person who's been doing weird things with her accounts might be working out of. She tosses out some ideas about who would have access to mainframes. Gov't agency? Banks? Or, in the private sector, mebbe ELQ? Jax Cosmetics? Kevin: "Or, perhaps, Stefan Cassadine." She points out the Timoria game, then deftly switches over to speculate that Stefan's using Kevin to go after her, somehow. Justus' Well Appointed ELQ Office Carly, in a wig that makes her resemble something like a cross of Josie (of Josie and the Pussycats' fame) and Jeanie (I Dream Of) and with full southern accent on, is conning the secretary that she's looking to use Justus' legal services. The sec informs Carly that he's busy, but she's welcome to wait, and blows out to lunch. Carly dives for the filing cabinets. In Ned's office, the cousins discuss Jax's ploy to get back on the board, with Ned resolving to let him on in hopes that Jax/Sonny feud will ultimately resolve the matter. >From the conversation, though nothing is said implicitly, it looks like Justus gave Jax the info he used for leverage. Ned wasn't happy, but wasn't mad enough to move Justus to the top of his shitlist, either. He even applauds Justus' Quartermaine genes peeking through. As they stroll over towards Ward's office, Carly bolts up and hides. She overhears Ned offer a "tripple-cross" to his cousin, and when they both leave, heads back for the files till she finds and pulls out one marked "Jones." Hospital Trying to comfort Emily, AJ compares her situation with Matt to the accident that caused Jason's brain damage; he was behind the wheel, while she and Matt simply had a common passion for sports cars. While she eventually sees his point, she doesn't agree with it, but he encourages her to not close herself off to people about it. Due to the TPTB's confusing the psychological addiction of marijuana to the physical cravings of alcoholism, we get treated to a "one day at a time"-type speech from AJ, after Emily remarkes that she doesn't know how she'll be able to get through the ordeal of a homecoming without a joint. AJ tells her to call him at the hotel if she needs anything, and blows out. Nurses' Station Dorman dresses down Rebecca Chase righteously about some patient; Jason lurks, and tries to get the shaken-up nurse to see his point of view re: Dorman, but she skitters away. As Pierce is fiddling with paperwork, a man resembling Robert DeNiro in _Angel Heart_ comes up and demands his attention, saying they "have business to discuss." Jason lurks. Q's Emily's back home, and Edward's being insulting, chastizing her for her use, and informing her that she won't be allowed to take any of the family cars out. When Lila intervenes, Emily tells them she giving up the drugs, and says they don't have to worry about her wild friends, because it was only Matt, and he's not too much fun these days. Hospital Dorman's supplier isn't happy at the lack of funds coming towards their end of the pipeline. Dorman makes excuses ("Hey, man, my partner's dead, give me a break"), but the mob guy pats him on the head and tells him he's running out of time. Jason's still lurking, but gets an ill-timed page on his beeper; spots some odd looking metallic object on the ground, and pockets it. At the phones, he talks to someone called Heather and tells her not to call anyone, especially Mac. (This time, it's Dorman's turn to lurk, as he watches Jason on the phone) Bobbie and Tony bump into each other; he says he wants to tell her something about Katherine Bell. ELQ Offices AJ is entering and recognizes Carly. Lighthouse Kevin is commanding the telephone: "I was told that you could handle this...well then do it...and don't bother me here anymore." Lucy overhears but ignores it, tells Kevin she has BIG news, but first wants him to know she loves him and would like a non-verbal demonstration of his love for her. Kevin is in an obliging mood. Felicia's Filly's on the phone, asking a contact to get the total rundown on Kevin's recent visit to Oxford.
