COMBAT-PAY UPDATE, THURSDAY APRIL 24

I. The Super-Couple Clone: Too Many Copies.

Alexis is raving to Stefan about the hospital and Luke. She's sure he's
the one behind all the bad news the hospital has had of late. Stefan
denies this but Alexis says "He wouldn't be the first person to be
distracted when his wife is out of town." Stefan gives her a hard look,
and Ned comes in. He wants to concentrate on damage control. He thinks
they should be proactive. Stefan says he wants Miss Bell's opinion. He
races off without a press release. Alexis and Ned talk about family
gate-keeping. [Your Fearless Updater still prefers the dung-sweeping at
the parade's end image.] Families: "Sometimes they behave and sometimes
you need a whip and a chain", says Ned. They talk about pulling Emily off
the roof.

Katherine is in chat with Stefan on the laptop with the BIG TYPE.
Miranda brings in a bottle Katherine left behind. K. is planning to go
to the hospital and skip her physical therapy till later. They talk
about necking in the car with Stefan. They discuss Bobbie. Katherine
wants to walk in her sensible platform shoes. The bell rings, and it's
Carly who is amazed at Katherine's progress. During the therapy session
she finds out that Stefan was there for the first step. The modem
buzzes. Miranda fetches the laptop where Katherine reads: "In my ongoing
to effort to make you smile. Please meet me." [Ah, those insidious
Cassadines. Now he's murdering the language.] Katherine tells Miranda
to fetch her things at the hospital and rushes off with her driver. Next
we see her in swimsuit in the pool [how? We have no idea. Yada-yada-yada,
she's in the pool.] The magic candles are lit all around the pool.
Stefan appears and takes her in his arms [ick, yuck] and tells her that
twilight is his favorite time. It sneaks up on everyone.

2. The Neverending SIDAR:

Sonny and Brenda are outside the hospital. They talk about Emily. They
talk about Brenda. She needs to figure out how to be happy sober. She
doesn't know how else to do it. "Why don't you just ask me?" asks Sonny.
[Riiiight. His answer used to be to jump in bed whenever there was a
problem.] They talk about Jax. She hasn't told Jax about the cave yet.
She doesn't feel like telling him without her pills. Sonny comments:
"You keep telling yourself it's tomorrow, and it never is. That's what I
did with Lily." Sonny says it's all politics. They talk about Taggart
and Deke. Sonny doesn't get it. Brenda tells him "Loving you can't be
what it's all about. I need to learn to love myself." She feels
two-dimensional.

Brenda is amazed thqat they communicated on a whole new level. Sonny
tells her not to press her luck. She says "Maybe we should only have
these talks in really public places." Sonny thinks "Maybe we should go
bowling." They hug. Miranda sees them.

3. Spencers set the bait:

Nik is doing Tai Chi on the pier, and Lucky comes up. "Tai Chi, right?"
"No, it's basketball, what do you want?" "To get away from you as soon as
possible." [How rude! He's the one who's trespassing!] Lucky has a letter
from Leslie. Nik wants to hear how well Leslie is doing. He wants to
know if she's mentioned Stefan. Lucky leaves, and instead of reading the
letter Nik tosses it on the ground and tries to go back to Tai Chi. The
mood is broken, and he goes for a swim instead. Then he calls Alexis
looking for Stefan. They agree to do dinner, and then Nik goes looking
for Katherine.

At the bar, Lucky comes in looking for booze. [This is a singularly
unappealing direction. He's been trying it on a lot. Like Luke's
illegal cigars, I really TRULY don't like this!] Luke hands him a glass
of water, and they talk about Nik taking the bait. Then Luke tells Lucky
about Emily. Lucky goes to phone the hospital, and Carly comes in. She
reports to Luke, who gives her money. At first she won't take it, but
eventually she does. She leaves, Lucky leaves, and Alexis comes in and
tells Luke it has to stop. He must stop harrassing Nik. Luke wants to
know why she's telling him this instead of Stefan.
