LOD: Sonny to Mike: "Where ya been, Pop? You look like hell."

Aside from that, the dialogue pickin's are pretty slim. I'm glad to
notice (I'm doing the 3/17 update next) that the dialogue has improved
immeasurably in just one week. If that's Mulcahey's work, my hat is off
to him. This episode was kind of exciting to watch at the time, but on
second viewing, some of the dialogue and situations, especially surrounding
the rescue of Sonny & Brenda from the cave, seemed incredibly forced and
bad.

THE CAVE: So, they thought they were going to sleep and never wake up, and
they apparently thought that a good way to die would be to have some great
sex first. Oops. Scene one opens with Sonny holding Brenda and being
awakened by Jax's shouts from above. He has some trouble waking Brenda up,
but upon hearing Jax yelling, she bounds up, almost delirious, shouting
back to him and yelling for him to come get them. Jax yells that he loves
her and leaves to get help. Sonny grimaces and says "We're gonna be all

right. Only then does she realize what they've done.

ABOVE THE CAVE: Mac, Mike and Jason are there, with emergency personnel,
debating how to dig to the cave. It is heavyhandedly pointed out to us
that the city never surveyed this. Mac asks Jason to draw a map. He says
he can't. Mike yells at him and says that Sonny wouldn't care that he's
telling. Jasons says that's not it, he can't think it. Mac is understanding
and moves on to Plan B. Meanwhile, Mike comes over to Jason and Jason
asks him "What comes next, after 'Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread'?" Mike
tells him. Taggert interrupts them, being his usual obnoxious and rude
self, and Mac comes over and puts him firmly in his place.

SPENCER HOUSE: Lucky persuades Laura to let him come back to PC with
Luke after the trip to Switzerland. Laura thinks she has made him feel
bad and apologizes. Leslie & Lulu come in. Luke comes home. The other
three make themselves scarce so that Laura can be evasive to Luke again.
She smiles edgily at him and we break for an ad. When we return, Laura
tells him about Lucky wanting to come back with him. Luke is incredulous
that Lucky wants to come back, but he agrees.

HOSPITAL: It's a power meeting about Monica's status at the hospital,
with Stefan firmly in charge. Lee is there, as are Alan, Monica, and
Alexis. Dorman breezes in, and when Stefan says he expects them to be
professional and civil to each other, Dorman retorts "She still WORKS
here?" He has a list of written demands, which Stefan takes from him,
thanks him for, and stuffs in his pocket, after dismissing him from
the meeting and refusing to acknowledge Alan's request to see his
demands. The meeting does not go well for Monica. She can keep her
surgical practice, but must give up her department head status, her
Bard Fellowship for young interns, and her seat on the board. Alan
insists that they will certainly see about her staying on the Wellness
Center, and they agree. Monica is brittle, calm, resigned, and seems
very shaky.

THE CAVE: Jason paces off and finally shows them where to dig. Sonny
yells up that they're in the basement, and Mike starts to panic. They
ask if Harry is there, and Brenda yells "Harry's dead!" She turns to Sonny
and says "They know Harry did it." Sonny says "That they do." He is starting

to realize that they're going to have to go on with their lives. Brenda
begins to say "Jax can't..." and he says, calmly, "I know." Meanwhile,
Jason finds the spot. Taggert gets in his face again, and Jax says "Mac,
could you call off this idiot?" The earth moves, giving everyone a
whole new set of problems to worry about. The room they are looking
for is the one next to S&B's room - "The Shower," so named because water
seeps into it. They are trying to find a room  next to them so that
they can dig a vertical tunnel and then tunnel through. Down in the
cave, Sonny is having trouble, saying "It's like breathing through
a pinhole." Brenda comes to him and holds his hand and he says it's
okay. Jason continues to pace, and people are getting impatient with him.
Finally, he says "It's here." Then the earth gives way and he falls in.
A bunch of dirt falls through, and rocks fall, and Sonny throws Brenda
to the ground and covers her. *AD* They drag Jason out, and he refuses
any medical treatment. Sonny starts trying to move rocks from the
short horizontal tunnel that leads from their room to the vertical tunnel.
Taggert starts up again, and Mac threatens him "you're gonna get that
fist you were looking for, and I won't be assaulting an officer because
you'll no longer BE one."

AIRPORT: Dorman is at the airport, trying to call Harry. He gets the
message: "the subscriber you have reached is unavailable or has
traveled outside the coverage area." Hehe. Like many of you, we
wondered if Hell is in the coverage area. He hangs up and curses.
A plane arrives, including a man on a stretcher with Dorman's drug
shipment.

CAVE: Brenda goes into the tunnel with the lantern - she insists because
she is smaller and not claustrophobic. Initially, he agrees, and then
as she is farther in, he says "You know what? Come back." She says "You
know what? I'm already there." Jax hears this and yells for her to go
back because the earth is not stable, and Sonny says "You heard him." So
she backs out and hurts her hip again. When she cries out in pain, Jax
says he's going down after her. Brenda tells Sonny that it's blocked.
He asks if she's hurt her hip again, and she says yes, but her hip is
the least of her worries. Jax has a rope to hold onto but falls into
the hole, and the earth moves again. They drag him up. Jax yells for
Sonny and tells him to come through. Jason says quickly "He can't.
Don't ask him." Everyone wants to know why, and Jason quickly clams
up because he knows that Sonny doesn't want the cops to know about his
claustrophobia. Sonny begins to crawl through the horizontal tunnel.
Brenda is behind him, still in the cave, and he starts to have trouble.
"The air's right in front of you, honey, it's not that far," she says,
continuing to call his name, and he doesn't answer. The earth moves
again, and he lies there and tries to shelter himself and looks
out helplessly as Brenda yells for him to come back. *AD* He still doesn't
answer her, and she continues to talk him through it, telling him
that he has beat everything that ever hurt him - he beat Harry, he
beat Rivera, he beat his depression over losing Lily and losing her,
and finally she gets desperate. "You beat Deke, right?" Finally he
answers and says he's okay. He breaks through the tunnel and looks
up the vertical one. They talk to him and tell him that they will
send down a harness, but they can only get one shot. They emphasize
this over and over and we shake our heads at how stupid the writers
must think we are. He says he will go get Brenda.

HOSPITAL: Laura has brought Leslie to say goodbye to Audrey & Monica.
Monica says Laura's been a good daughter to Leslie. Leslie tells Monica,
"I always wanted to say, anyone can be a blonde." They all laugh and say
that Leslie will be completely normal soon. Laura asks Audrey to tell Tom
to meet them at the airport. They leave, and Audrey asks Monica about the
meeting. Monica hands her her name tag and says to reissue it without
the title. Alan comes along, tells Audrey to tell Monica not to leave
without seeing him first. Meanwhile, Alexis and Stefan discuss Leslie's
incriminating medical records. Alexis says something about making them
disappear, and Stefan says "It seemed easier to make the Spencers disappear."
She tells him a story about parades, and how there is always a person at
the end to clean up after the horses. "That's me, Stefan. Talk about
tiresome."

SPENCER HOUSE: Luke is carrying Lulu and talking to Lucky. He asks him
why he is so keen on coming back with him and what he thinks Luke will
do without anyone there, "raiding the shelter for homeless chorus girls?"
he asks, covering Lulu's little ears. They talk about gum and their ears
on takeoff. He tells Lucky to pick out some toys for Lulu. Lucky picks
the puppet and the Faberge egg, saying "I think you should take this,
because if you don't, me and Dad are gonna burn it."

CAVE: Jax is shining a flashlight down the vertical tunnel, and Sonny
is back in the cave, trying to convince Brenda to be the first one
out. "Can't you just do what I want, just for once?" he asks, and she
smiles and says "You always say that." He puts the harness on her, but
she turns around to face him and says, "I know that you can't make it
through the tunnel by yourself, so just please come with me right now."
He agrees. They crawl through the tunnel, Brenda in front, and they
reach the vertical tunnel. They pull Brenda up, and she looks down at
Sonny the whole way. They get her out, and just then the earth shakes
yet again and dust and rocks fall down on Sonny, who is still in the
vertical tunnel. Brenda yells and screams and clings to Jax and stares
down at the hole where Sonny was. *AD* "WHAT ABOUT SONNY??!!" she
demands, and she starts screaming when no one seems to want to deal
with it. Until she starts to break free from Jax as if she is going
to dive into the hole herself, and then Jax pushes her aside. "Get him!!"
she cries hysterically.

HOSPITAL: Alan tells Monica that he had it out with Stefan. She says "I
knew you would."

SPENCERS: Laura can't find Leslie's passports. Luke merrily scolds Lucky,
saying "Aren't you the Keeper of the Passports?" (RATSA in-joke?) They
go to look for them, and Leslie pulls Laura aside. "We don't have to
go," she says. Laura says "Yes, we do." Leslie says "Not for me. I'm
better, I think. We're not coming back, are we? And Luke doesn't know,
does he?" Laura says she is doing what is best, and that this is what
is right for them right now, and she promises that she will not be
separated from her husband and her son for very long. Leslie asks,
"What about Nikolas?" and Laura says "I have no answer for that yet,
but I will." She leaves, and Leslie digs her passport out from where
she had hidden it and puts it in her purse.

HOSPITAL: Monica and Alexis are talking, and Alexis is trying to be
encouraging. She says it is temporary and she just didn't expect Dorman
to bribe a witness to perjure herself on the stand, and that they will
appeal and win, she promises. Monica looks at her and states flatly,
"Everything can be reversed. Nothing can be erased. That's what they
say about heart damage." Alan comes, and they leave together. Alexis
holds a letter to her chest and pats it and drops it in the hospital
outgoing mailbox. Stefan corners her and says everything is falling
into place now. "And the virus, if I may ask?" Alexis asks. Stefan
smirks that it is safely tucked away in one of the family heirlooms.

SPENCER HOUSE: The carpetbag is lying casually open to display the
very family heirloom he is talking about, the Faberge egg (wouldn't
it be cool if it's a computer virus that could somehow be erased by
the x-rays at customs?) Laura apologizes for not knowing where Leslie's
passport was. "I'm leaving my husband and my son, and I hate it." She
says to Luke that she loves him and thanks him for being so understanding.
Luke says "I've never been as dumb as I look, I know there's more to
this hasty departure than meets the eye." He blames himself for not
making the scam go off perfectly and making the town blame Laura for
lying to them. He tells her he'll be lonely but he can do it for
a little while if he knows she is not ashamed of him. She goes on and
on about how she's not ashamed of him, that he's the reason she
holds her head up high, etc. This has BETTER not be their last scene
together ever. "Loving you is the one thing I have always known is
right."

CAVE: Jax pulls Sonny up. Brenda is still hysterical. They get him out, and
he lies on the ground, totally exhausted. Jason hovers over him, along
with Mike. Sonny gripes "What the hell are you doing, telling people
where this place is," and pulls Jason down to embrace him and laugh.
Then he lies on his back, not caring who hears, and yells "Where are
you, Deke, you bastard! I'm alive, and you're still dead! Whooo!!!"
Then he looks over at Mike and says "Where ya been, Pop? You look like
hell." The picture fades as he looks over at Brenda in Jax's arms, but
she is looking at him, and they stare into each other's eyes as the
shot fades to black.
