LOD: Edward: "we know where his soft spot is..."

At the courthouse, the judge renders his verdict: GUILTY, which should
have come as a surprise to no one as he was quite obviously biased
against Monica from the very beginning. Dorman is infuriatingly smug and
magnanimous, telling the reporters that he does regret any pain he has
caused, and that he is going to donate any money left over after he pays
his lawyer to the Ward House (Monica is ordered to pay him $500,000,
which I found sort of low, compared to some of the cases I've been seeing
in the news). Alexis is keyed up and upset, saying next stop is Appeals
Court. As Dorman is taking every opportunity to wow the press with his
usual bull, Kevin steps in and begins to hold forth on the joys of being
Dorman, with his history of narcissistic parents & being gifted and his
string of women he has done things to, and how it's all to cover his fear
of sexual inadequacy.

Lucy and Justus are looking at Kevin's Kassadine Kontract (oops, sorry,
had to do that in deference to beginning to watch ATWT again, hehe). She
is not pleased, but she's well dressed, as usual, looking stunning.
Justus says that the contract is pretty standard, and if he were Kevin
he'd try to renegotiate the clause stating that any creative work,
Cassadine-related or not, that he would come up with while employed by
the Cassadines, would BELONG to the Cassadines (even during off-time? my
inquiring mind wants to know). He says that if he were a company he would
want that in there and tells Lucy that Jacks Cosmetics owns formulas that
their chemists come up with. That's not the same thing at all, and this
is just WRONG, opines our fair Luce, and she heartily concurs when Justus
suggests that if he were Kevin he would renegotiate. He WILL, Lucy vows,
and then they turn on the TV. They're at Luke's, where Mike is trying his
damnedest not to appear to be listening. They turn on the TV just in time
to see Kevin talking about Dorman on the news, interrupted by Dorman
punching Kevin in the face, on the air. That'll be nice evidence for an
assault charge, if Kevin elects to file one. Lucy holds her nose in
sympathy and looks shocked, while Justus looks on incredulously. Just
then, Kevin waltzes in, pleased with himself. Lucy worries and frets, and
Justus leaves.

Back home at the Quartermaine mansion, Monica, Alan, Ned, AJ, and Edward
are in the living room (drawing room? den? war room? whatever) and Monica
is feeling rather humiliated. AJ is supportive, having just received yet
another dressing down by cousin Ned. AJ hugs Monica. Alan says "The only
thing that's going to keep Dorman out of Monica's face is homicide."
Edward expounds on the dangers of losing ones temper. Emily is there,
acting blase, and several sexual jokes are cracked about Dorman, Emily
holds her own, and the adults are shocked. Edward almost giggles about
Dorman's "soft spot." AJ heads upstairs, downing a quick and furtive
drink from his flask on the way up, and Emily books out of there as well
under the guise of going to see some friend about something.

Luke and Lucky are at some rib joint, with the Judds playing in the
background, talking about their wonderful cheese fries. They discuss the
Cassadines, and Lucky goes on and on about a stupid plan he has come up
with to use Nikolas - to pretend to befriend him in order to get Leslie
to respond out of her semi-catatonia because he got her to before. He
wants Luke's opinion, and Luke says that he hates it, but that he doesn't
tell him what to do (and we yell from the couch - WHY THE HELL NOT? he is
only 14!!). Lucky seems like he is conning Luke, actually, making me
think that the whole plot has become so convoluted that all of them are
just trying to make sense of it all from day to day like we are. They
order a whole grocery sack full of ribs to go.

Back at the Spencer ranch, Stefan is intimidating Laura. She holds her
own for a little while, but she totally drops the ball when he threatens
to tell Luke the truth - here it comes (sarcasm) that Nikolas could be
his (Stefan's) son. Not Luke's. His. Well, duh, all of us who have been
remotely paying attention say at home. Laura reminds him that it's only a
possibility, it may not be the truth, and Stefan even inadvertently hands
her a blackmail tool - he lets it slip that no one can know or Nikolas
would lose all inheritance of course because he is illegitimate (ahem,
and he wasn't anyway?? Laura was already legally married to Luke when
Stavros kidnapped/raped/married her, right??) He tells her that she and
her mother will be leaving the country by the end of the week, or he
will tell Luke and destroy her happiness. At which point I, with the
admitted advantage of having watched 9 years of ATWT, look at her and say
"LIE to the man and tell him you've already told Luke, deflate his little
bubble, and then TELL Luke). which of course she does not.

Luke arrives home with Lucky, and they're all jazzed up about the food
and whatnot, and Laura is holding Lulu, who looks for all the world
exactly like baby Nikolas, and Luke asks her what's wrong. She says
nothing, and any fool would know she was lying. You know, that is what I
just don't buy about this whole entire storyline - how in the world for
16 years would she have been able to keep the existence of Nikolas a
secret from Luke?? God, how stupid. Anyway, she doesn't tell Luke, STILL,
and he holds her. Surely Anthony Geary can't have approved them writing
him to be this stupid.

If they destroy this couple over this stuff, I just may quit.

Okay, enough editorializing. On with the show.

Over at Miranda's suddenly decorated apartment, Jax and Miranda have
stopped kissing and he's pouting about Brenda. How could she do this. I
thought I knew her. Blah blah blah. Suddenly, Miranda notices that in the
dear John letter that Brenda left for Jax, she has started four lines
with the letters HELP and has set them off from the words just a bit.
You'd think that Harry The Insane would have thought of this when he was
dictating the letter to her at gunpoint, but no. They go to Luke's, with
Mac and Taggert. Jason plays it cool, Mike is worried sick. Jax
apologizes to Jason for roughing him up and Miranda points out the
letters. Jason still plays it cool. Mac gives Taggert hell, and says he's
surprised he didn't have the call traced. Taggert pulls his notebook out
of his pocket, to give him the info, because he DID have it traced, to a
flower company. Jason obviously recognizes this name, and though the
camera caught it, no one else did. Taggert also has a nasty black eye.
Wonder how he got it?

Down in the catacombs, or the storage area, or wherever this is, Harry
and Sonny are grappling around after the gun goes off, in our Friday
Cliffhanger, and Brenda screams. She sees them standing together and
picks up a rock to hit Harry with, but before she can do so, he falls to
the ground, bleeding. Sonny bends over him, going so far as to tell him
that it wasn't his fault, that he didn't kill Lily, almost seems like
he's going to cry, and then Harry reaches for the detonator and sets off
the explosion. Rocks fall and the only entrance, the tunnel, is blocked
off by fallen rock. Harry is dead. Brenda and Sonny make sure each other
is okay, and Sonny goes to bury Harry. When he gets back, she apologizes
and says she should have helped him, and he asks her if she is okay, and
if she is feeling sick, because she is addicted to the pain pills and he
knows this now, and she is feeling sick. She tells him that she really
didn't want him to come there because Harry was going to kill her anyway,
and he asks her why she didn't run out of the place when they started
fighting over the gun and Sonny yelled for her to run, and she said she
could never leave him there. He asks her why, and she says "You know
why." Uh huh. :))))))) Sonny takes the lantern over to the tunnel and
says he is going to dig them out, and he starts feeling claustrophobic,
but Brenda brings him out of it. I really think Harry intended for her
withdrawal and his claustrophobia to make them turn on each other and
destroy each other, and instead I think maybe they will each hold it
together for each other's sake. Maybe not, but maybe. More rocks fall,
and they hold each other and discuss the fact that there is no way out.

At the end, Amber (Emily) does a public service announcement about drugs.
