From: rika@netcom.com (Melissa Martin) Subject: GH: Update, Wednesday, 1/15 Date: Fri, 24 Jan 1997 23:22:26 GMT GENERAL HOSPITAL UPDATE Wednesday, January 15, 1997 I'm sorry this is late - I hope that "better late than never" applies. Today's Storylines: ------------------ * Silence that Dreadful Ms. Bell * Letters? What Letters? * Revenge of The Thing * Next Month, We Take Over the Gummi Worm Empire SILENCE THAT DREADFUL MS. BELL ------------------------------ Bobbie and Stefan go into Steve's old office; steam is pouring out of Bobbie's ears as a result of her confrontation with Carly. She thanks SteFON for the backup; he remarks that he's her husband. She worries that there are things she needs to tell him about herself; Stefan tells her he knows everything about her he needs to. She of course has no idea that this is because he knows more about her history than she does, but she remarks that she can't say the same thing about him. Bobbie is upset that she woke up in the middle of the night, and he never came to bed. He tells her he took a walk around the grounds. She asks him, if something is wrong, please tell her. Stefan insists that nothing is wrong - he couldn't be happier, and he hopes it's the same for her. She widens her eyes in response, but doesn't agree with his statement. Bobbie wants to make some "explanations". She explains that she was a hooker; he says none of it matters now. She wants to be honest with him so he doesn't find these things out another way (um, Bobbie, too late). He is proud to call her his wife. (Considering the way she widens her eyes at him right after that, one can only imagine just how proud.) Tony wants to know what Carly told Bobbie - he is afraid Carly told Bobbie about Tony's plans to get custody of Lucas. He hopes Carly didn't throw Bobbie's hooker past in her face. He expects Carly to rise above all that so as not to give Bobbie ammunition for the custody battle. Carly is furious that Tony is taking Bobbie's side in this. She leaves, despite Tony's request that she wait so he can talk to her more after he goes to see Katherine. Dr. Seberg is with Katherine. She needs another look at Kathy's MRI. Kathy is surprised Stefan Cassadine brought Dr. Seberg in, since she's never met him. Dr. Seberg: "Perhaps he's a saint." Tony arrives in time to challenge that remark and meets Dr. Seberg. He is clearly not amused. Tony assures Kathy that it's not a problem if it is what she wants, but he makes his displeasure at the situation clear. He leaves, and sees Stefan in the hall. Tony tells Stefan he favors anything that can help Kathy's recovery, but "don't pull anything like that again." Bobbie walks up, asking, "Anything like what?" Tony refers her to Stefan for an explanation and strides away. Bobbie tries to explain to Stefan why Tony is upset. She also doesn't understand why Stefan is so focused on Katherine's case. Stefan starts to lose his temper, but he controls himself. He tells her that he cannot dismiss the incident, since it happened on his property as a result of a feud she has nothing to do with. He won't let "the niceties of medical etiquette" get in the way of Katherine's recovery. Alexis tells Stefan about the meeting with Kevin. Alexis yells at Stefan for calling Dr. Seberg. She asks Stefan if he is emotionally involved with Katherine. With controlled fury, he tells her to stick to the legal difficulties of the hospital and "leave Katherine Bell to me." Tony arrives at the apartment to find Carly sulking. They argue. Tony tells her she has to roll with the punches; she says it's easier for him - he's a neurosurgeon so people don't push him around. He calls her "little girl" and tells her that everyone gets tough breaks. She suggests that maybe she's not as strong as he is. He tells her she is very tough - that's one of the reasons he loves her. (I think this is nuts - it seemed to be her vulnerability and neediness that attracted him). But she has to develop a thicker skin and a sense of responsibility. But what about Bobbie, she asks? He tells her to forget Bobbie, but Carly doesn't see how she can. Tony says, "Trust me, Bobbie isn't going to come looking for you." On that cue, the doorbell rings, and Tony opens the door. There stands Bobbie, all goggle-eyed. So much for trusting Tony! Meanwhile, Dr. Seberg tells Stefan the radiologist is looking over the MRI; she'll have something to tell her soon. Stefan (big surprise HERE) is skulking outside Kathy's room. Actually, there is ONE big surprise - we went through an entire episode without a Stefan-sees-Kathy's-eyes-right-before-the-shooting flashback. LETTERS? WHAT LETTERS? ----------------------- Lucy is still in Gail's office, continuing from yesterday's episode. Gail tries to calm her down, but Lucy is worried. She reviews the fact that Kevin's father is Victor Collins, and there are recent letters from Victor in the box in Kevin's closet. Since Kevin told Lucy that Victor was dead, that means Kevin lied. Lucy needs Gail's help to be prepared if Kevin is heading down a dangerous path. Gail invokes doctor/patient confidentiality. Lucy tries again - has Kevin told Gail that his father is dead? Gail evades. Lucy: "Gail, you've gotta work with me here. Just nod your head or blink your eyes or click your heels together three times. I need to know if my Doc is in some kind of new trouble." Lucy considers looking at the letters and telling Gail about them. Gail agrees that information is helpful, but discourages Lucy from doing this due to privacy issues which would arise in both their relationships with Kevin. Gail also advises her not to confront Kevin about the letters; however, she doesn't think Kevin will repeat the kind of things that happened when he kidnapped Felicia. In an "ideal world," Kevin should be allowed to deal with the letters in his own way and his own time. Lucy points out that she lives in the real world, not an ideal world, and she can't allow Kevin to have another breakdown. Gail tries to calm her - she should take it one step at a time. "Calm down, take it one step at a time - those are my worst events," responds Lucy - but she'll try. She *can* do it, she tells Gail - she can do anything for Kevin's sake. Kevin is standing by his closet, looking at the box of letters, and the doorbell rings. He carries the box into the living room, placing it under the coffee table as Alexis enters. Alexis has bad news - there is a tentative settlement on the class action suit. In addition to a financial settlement, the agreement requires Kevin's "termination." (Hasta la vista, Kevin!) Kevin: "By lethal injection or firing squad?" Kevin makes the excellent point that he has already resigned; however, they want a public condemnation of his actions. (Which were WHAT? I see why they are settling, to avoid publicity, but we have yet to see any evidence that he harmed a patient.) Kevin suggests that they lock him in the stocks and let people stone him. Kevin figures that this means he can't ever go back to GH, though Alexis encourages him to "never say never." She points out to a dejected Kevin that at least this avoids a lengthy trial and lots of adverse publicity. Alexis wishes she could do something to make this easier for Kevin: he suggests a recommendation for law school, since "the local bar association wouldn't notice if there was another paranoid schizophrenic in their midst." Kevin isn't sure what to do. A cop would turn in his gun and his badge. What does a shrink turn in? His couch? His collected works of Sigmund Freud? Alexis suggests that he promise never to say, "How do you feel about that?" again. He says it sounds like she has some experience with therapy herself - she smiles, insisting that she's just "heard about it." Kevin teases, "So why don't you lie down on the couch and tell me all about it?" in a slightly Germanic accent. They are laughing at this remark when Lucy arrives. Lucy wants to know what that remark meant - she is quite annoyed. Kevin explains that they were just trying to lighten up after some bad news, and they explain about the settlement of the suit. Alexis gathers her things, preparing to leave. Lucy, with only a bare minimum of sincerity, says, "Alexis, I'm sorry if I was a little weird earlier." Alexis gets the LOD, as she so often (deservingly) does: "I'm a Cassadine. No need to apologize to me for being weird." Kevin assures Lucy that he will be okay - pretty soon. She does her best to console him (including a back rub). He's not sure why it upsets him - he knew it was coming. He doesn't know what to do with himself now. Lucy assures him he can do any- thing. Kevin: "Except for what I love." He is glad Steve Hardy isn't around to see what his "grand meltdown" did to GH. Kevin feels that he let everyone down. Then he stops himself, realizing that this is just too depressing. He needs a cele- bration of the beginning of his life with Lucy. He tells her he can face anything as long as he's with her. She runs out to get them food from Chez Matisse, telling him, "Don't move!" When she is gone, he retrieves the box of letters from under the coffee table. When she returns, he is frozen in the same position he was in when she left - being a smart aleck about her "Don't move!" remark. He takes her by the hand and leads her to the closet, telling her to remember that he said that he could face anything if he had her. Lucy, thinking he intends to show her the letters, is clearly relieved when he tells her that this may be the most important thing he has ever shown her. He opens the closet doors - and we see that the closet is empty. Lucy asks what happened to the contents. Kevin: "I got rid of it all." (But let's recall that the shoe box of letters was not *in* the closet while Lucy was gone......) REVENGE OF THE THING -------------------- Monica comes into Alan's office - they have both shopped for Emily's birthday. Alan changes the subject, with the runner-up LOD: "Have you seen The Thing today?" Yes, Monica had the displeasure of scrubbing with Dorman - she thinks he schedules his surgeries to coincide with hers to annoy her. Alan can do something about that - he makes a call and changes Dorman's surgical schedule. Monica worries that Dorman is going to go ballistic; Alan doesn't care. He can tie a surgeon's knot with his bad hand (he has been practicing, apparently on a Nerf football). Monica suggests plastic surgery as a specialty; Alan assures her that nothing could improve her. When we rejoin them, The Thing is in Alan's office. Dorman is mad about the change to his surgical schedule. Alan and The Thing snort and paw at each other; Monica tries to blend into the wallpaper. Dorman smirks and prepares to leave, but just then Alexis arrives. She hands Dorman the restraining order keeping him away from Monica and Emily. Alan tells him he had better not come into his office without knocking again or "I'll arrange more than your schedule." Dorman smirks yet again (but he's so GOOD at it!) and exits. NEXT MONTH, WE TAKE OVER THE GUMMI WORM EMPIRE ---------------------------------------------- Sonny and Jason, those intrepid kindler, gentler mobsters, start by discussing their money laundering situation. Benny, whoever he may be, is nervous about the amount of cash which is accumulating, but Sonny doesn't want Jason to go to Canada any time soon (perhaps fearing he might run into Ryan or Damian). The discussion switches to their detective work. Benny didn't find anything in Marilyn Cooper's phone records, and Jason hasn't found out who the guys were at Marilyn Cooper's apartment the day Sonny and Brenda hid in the closet. Jason remarks that Joseph blames himself, especially since they almost killed Sonny the first time - and they both freeze for a moment, but then deny that anything is wrong. Joseph worried that Sonny went to Lily's grave alone - but Sonny wasn't going to take a bodyguard there. He tells Jason about leaving his wedding ring there. Sonny notices the ring more gone than when it was there. When someone dies, you go numb at first. Sometimes you recover; sometimes you die too. It takes time, but you eventually reach the other side. Standing over Lily's grave, he wasn't angry - he felt peaceful. He decided to let her go. Jason says that Sonny was the first person who thought he was smart enough to take care of himself. Even Robin tends to worry about him all the time. Sonny reminds him that people worry about their loved ones. Sonny promised Robin once that he wouldn't let Jason go so far into gummi bear smuggling that he couldn't get out, and it's a promise he wishes he had kept. Jason says he wanted to be in the business - gummi bears are his life - and Sonny asks why. (Because they are so nice and squishy and sweet? Because they come in bright colors?) Sonny got into the business because he was a poor kid with a bad family situation, but Jason wasn't in that state. Jason wanted to get away from the Q's, and Sonny told him back then that the Q's had no power in his world. Before Sonny, nobody believed in Jason; Sonny gave Jason a place to go. All the things that make Jason wrong in other situations (he doesn't talk much, he's fearless, he doesn't always know right from wrong) makes him well-suited to the candy smuggling trade. Sonny let Jason "cross the line" because, at the time of Lily's death, he didn't care about anyone or anything. Stone was different: once Sonny told him to do something dangerous, and Stone blew it. That allowed Sonny to keep him outside of the dangerous part of the illicit candy business. But Jason is inside now - "This is your life for the rest of your life, and even if I want you out, with all the people you know and all the deals you've made..... it could get you killed." (Or, at the very least, give you major problems with tooth decay and gingivitis.) Jason likes the fact that Sonny lets him choose. Even Robin makes some of Jason's decisions for him. Sonny says he used to not worry about the consequences of his actions for those close to him. But now he understands that he can't view things that way. He is worried about Brenda running around playing detective. Luckily, Brenda told him her detective days are over. Unfortunately, he doesn't want Brenda to stay away - he wants it to be safe for her to come back. (Yeah - safe for how long?) ----------------- Rika 1/2 of the Wednesday Update Team
