TEENY-TINY, ULTRA MINI-UPDATE FOR 12/31/96

Warning:  Your Scribe does not have a gigantic life (translation:
no ball gown was involved), but she does have a life-fragment
nonetheless.  Since today was New Year's Eve, what follows is a
bare-bones version of what happened.

Appearing:
          Tony, Carly, Bobbie
          Felicia, Tom, Audrey, Maxie, Georgie, Tommy, Lucas
          Katherine, Mac, Miranda
          Sonny, Jason, Mike, Gina...
          look, every cast member EXCEPT Luke, Laura, Lucky,
               Leslie Lu, Ruby and Leslie were there

     Ned invites Brenda and Jax to a civilized (boring) party at
the Q's.
     Bobbieless, Felicia carries on the tradition of a New Year's
party at the brownstone.  She's there with Tom and Audrey, and the
kids.
     Katherine wants to be alone, and sends Mac and Miranda to
Felicia's party.
     Tony brings Carly to the party at the brownstone...WRRROWWR!
     Justus drops by to talk about Tony's lawsuit to get custody of
Lucas.
     At Luke's, Kevin and Lucy have organized tonight's party and are
handing out favors.
     At Luke's, AJ tries to get Jason to go to the Q's.  Jason
refuses.
     Katherine has a dream sequence about Stefan, then awakens and
sees him at her bedside.
     Everyone avoids Carly at the party ;)
     Bobbie didn't know Tony would be there, and certainly not with
Carly, when she drops Lucas off at the brownstone party.  Tony agrees
to sleep over so Lucas can spend the night with his friends and the
morning with his dad.

     Fashion interlude:  the top gown awards of the night go to...
     Lucy, regal and goddess-like in skin-tight gold lame with gold
bangles and long, thin gold dangle earrings;
     Monica, in shimmery, beaded silver with a dazzling diamond
choker;
     Brenda, in tight, low-cut, low-backed dark silver/gray.
     Monica and Lucy tied for first place.  Brenda could have joined
them, but takes second for her lack of jewels.  What happened to that
lovely diamond bracelet she used to wear?  Oh, I know Sonny gave it to
her, but Jax could at least have the wisdom to replace it with an even
more impressive one.

     AJ talks to Keesha about maybe kinda ALMOST proposing.  It was
pretty pathetic.  She had to ask if he was proposing, and he then said
he was thinking about it but wants to keep it a secret for now.
Pathetic.
     Katherine thanks Stefan for having saved her.  She remembers
everything only vaguely, and, unlike Mac, doesn't want to remember the
details of the shooting.  She cuts him off every time he tries to
introduce himself, then begs him to stay and he does.  She sleeps.
     <shudder> ABC "worked into" the storyline a horrendous bit where
"The Mommies" do some shtick at Luke's about being "best friends."
(If you don't know who they are, bless you and move on.)  Here I grew
queasy so concrete details elude me, but still I have to wonder what
these women have on certain ABC executives.  No naked pictures could
be worth *so* much.
     Gina looks pretty chummy with Jason.
     Emily meets the worthy object of her crush, Nikolas, where he's
waiting out in the driveway at the Q's.  He's going home with Alexis,
who's inside talking about some legal business regarding Dorman.
     Monica pulls a major motherly faux pas by dragging Emily back
inside because she has no coat on.  Emily rebounds from this
little-kid humiliation and rejoins Nikolas at the car, where they both
stare out into the night.
     Carly feels neglected, then sorry for herself, then yells at
Tony, then leaves.
     New Year's Eve chimes midnight.  Reggie hovers around Lila, and
Brenda kisses Edward first on her way to Jax.  Ned and Alexis toast,
as do Justus and Dara.
     Robin calls Sonny and Jason.  Sonny steers Gina away from Jason
so Jason can take Robin's call.
