From: lraneri@babies.bsd.uchicago.edu (Leslie Raneri) Subject: GH: Mon. Dec. 23 Update Date: Thu, 26 Dec 1996 14:57:18 GMT General Hospital Monday, December 23 Update Sonny speaks into the phone, trying to talk with the woman who set him up. On the other end, the phone is laying on the floor. Jax tells Brenda he asked Miranda to come back with him so he can see her as she is now, a part of his life that is over. Sonny comes out screaming for Taggert. He tells Brenda about the call he got and says he wants to see if the police can trace it. Jax does not look happy about BrendaÍs concern. Katherine awakes with Stephan at her side and is very distressed that she canÍt move her legs. Alan and a nurse come in to help her. Stephan leaves while they check her out. Miranda tells Mac that she and Stephan decided to get divorced so they can move on. Mac asks if sheÍs okay with that. She says she has to be. A nurse comes over to get him about Katherine. Bobbie asks if KatherineÍs okay. Stephan says he went to apologize to her about ñwhat happened to her on the island,î and she woke up screaming because she couldnÍt move her legs. Mac tries to soothe her as Alan examines her. Nickolas is concerned. Bobbie wants to go, but Stephan wants to stay because he feels responsible. Bobbie says they need to go buy a Christmas tree with Lucas. Alexis says sheÍll stay and call them if thereÍs any change. Tony asks Justus what heÍll have to give up to get custody of Lucas. Justus says he shouldnÍt visit Lucas with Carly around and says that his relationship with Carly will not look good in court. Tony says he will do whatever it takes. Monica, AJ, and Keesha come in. Tony and Justus go out on the terrace, where Emily and her little druggie friend are hanging out. Justus asks if they could leave because they have important things to discuss. Little does he know... Tony says Justus seems interested in the case. He says he is. Tony asks for help in getting Lucas from the Cassadine house. Justus says Stephan is a very powerful man who has amassed a lot of money and power in a short and silent way, and he will be hard to fight. Tony says the definition of torture is knowing that Lucas is living with the Cassadines. He says he is worried that ñon a whimî Stephan could turn Lucas against him. Justus advises him to try to settle this with Bobbie out of the courts. Tony says BobbieÍs not the same person and sheÍs totally influenced by Stephan. HeÍs worried theyÍll move to Greece. Moved by TonyÍs passion, Justus agrees to take the case. Tony gives Justus a dollar as a retainer. Justus says it will be a difficult battle because they can say that his affair with Carly led to the breakup of the relationship. Tony says thatÍs a lie, but Justus says it doesnÍt matter. Tony says he canÍt just let Carly go. Justus says when he gets custody, he can do whatever he wants, but until then, he canÍt afford to do things like see Lucas with Carly around. Justus says theyÍll start working on it after the holidays and not to mention it to anyone. Brenda finds a police officer to try to trace the phone. Jax is waiting and wants to leave. The officer picks up the phone and announces his presence, and a gloved person on the other end hangs it up. Sonny is furious at the police blowing this lead and says the people who set him up probably took the woman down. At the other end of the phone, we see her lying on the floor. The Cassadine family tries to pick out a tree. Stephan and Nickolas arenÍt really enthusiastic, but Bobbie is really into it. They say they celebrate Christmas differently in Greece. Stephan stares off into space. Could it be--another memory of shooting Katherine? No, itÍs a memory of after Katherine was shot! Lucas distracts him by saying he found some candy canes. Stephan tries to restrain himself. Tony comes over and says hi to them. Bobbie thanks Tony for meeting them at the tree lot. He says heÍll see Lukas on Christmas day. Nickolas stops Tony to tell him Lucas will be fine. Nickolas takes Lucas to see the tree they picked. Stephan stares off into space. There it is! I didnÍt think I could get through an episode of GH without seeing that flashback again. Just in case you forgot, Stephan shot Katherine. Sonny leaves his hospital room and asks Taggert where he was. He asks if Taggert heard what happened and says to check out if the woman worked at Mercy. Taggert is like, ñyeah, right.î Sonny notices Miranda there and asks if she saw Brenda. She says Brenda left with Jax, ñher husband.î Sonny leaves to phone someone and ask them to tail Taggert. At the mystery womanÍs place, a person dressed in black walks over to her motionless body and drags her across the room. Alan tells Katherine the bullet is near her spine and that the tissue is inflamed which is probably why she canÍt move her legs. He says that when the swelling goes down, theyÍll be able to see what they can do. Katherine is upset at the thought that she might not be able to walk. Miranda comes in her room to talk with her and says Katherine is angry and that's good. Mac asks Alan what her chances are. Alan says he canÍt say. At the tree lot, Lucas says they bought the biggest tree, and Stephan says theyÍll have to take the big boat back to the island. Lucas is really excited. Bobbie is happy that Stephen is so good with him, but Stephan says heÍs not sure about Lucas calling him ñuncle.î Bobbie says heÍs just trying to be like Nickolas. Stephan says he doesnÍt want any problems with Tony. Bobbie says it doesnÍtÍ matter what Tony thinks, as long as he treats Nickolas well. Bobbie says thereÍre becoming a great family, and he hugs her with his Cassadine ring clearly visible on his hand. Tony comes home to the apartment, where Carly has hung three stockings with care, for her, Tony, and Lucas. The tree and presents are beautiful, and she greets him in her elf cap. She is very excited, and says she found a neat game for Lucas. Tony says Lucas canÍt come for Christmas as long as Carly is around. Way to break a girlÍs heart, Tony. At the Quartermaines, Monica says she needs to start her Christmas cards earlier next year. AJ suggests a letter: ñDear Friends, Wow, what a year. Jason changed his name to Morgan and went to work for crime boss Sonny Corinthos. Tracy tried to steal ELQ out from under us. Oh yeah, and Lois left Ned so that her baby wouldnÍt turn out to be a Quartermaine. Hope your familyÍs doing well too. Lots of love, etc, etc.î Monica is not amused but Justus thinks itÍs appropriate. Alan comes over and introduces himself to EmilyÍs little druggie friend (LDF), who doesnÍt introduce himself. Alan comes over and offers to play Johnny Mathis Christmas carols. Emily is thoroughly embarrassed and asks if Matt can see her room. Monica says he probably has to go home to his family, to which he responds that he goes home whenever he wants. He and Emily leave the room. Monica and Alan donÍt quite know what they did. Keesha comes over and asks Justus if heÍs going to the Kwanza celebration tomorrow. She says people will want to see him He says he doesnÍtÍ think he will be there, but heÍll try. She says priorities sure change, and he says heÍs tired of her challenging his all the time. Katherine says people keep running in and out but wonÍt tell her whatÍs going on. Miranda interprets that as Katherine feels infuriated. Okay, I can see that as a valid feeling in the situation, but I donÍt think thatÍs what KatherineÍs expressing right now. A little projection, Miranda? Miranda says she should use her anger to fuel her recovery. Katherine says she is worried that she may never walk again. Miranda says she canÍt afford to think that way and she has to just use her anger and dream of walking again. She says it worked for her. Katherine says sheÍs glad MirandaÍs there. Miranda is too, and says sheÍll come back later and theyÍll get ñreally angry together.î Great. Miranda sees Mac in the hall and says Katherine is terrified, but sheÍs lucky to have Mac standing beside her. He says he would do anything for her and heÍs not going anywhere. She says Katherine is smart enough to let him be there for her. Carly takes off her elf hat and disappointedly asks why Lucas canÍt come there. Tony says because heÍs suing Bobbie for custody and Justus insisted that she not see Lucas until the case is settled. Carly is upset that she canÍt see Lucas and that a court could see her as a bad influence on Lucas and Tony. Tony says she shouldnÍt take it personally. Carly says Bobbie divorced Tony and married Stephan without a word, but somehow they look like the bad people. Tony says he has to move back into the Brownstone. Carly is devastated, her abandonment fears played out. Tony says he has to be where Lucas can be. She gives him his stocking. Tony says they wonÍt serve the papers until after the holidays. She says if that will help with getting Lucas, sheÍll do her best to go along with it. Still at the tree lot, Bobbie says they need to get some more Christmas ornaments. Stephan says he wantÍs to pick out some mistletoe before he goes. When she leaves, he pulls out his phone and calls to see how Katherine is. Lucy and Kevin trim their tree. She asks if he loves Christmas. She says until recently, she always felt like it was forced gaiety and that, being poor, she was missing out. She says she hated people feeling sorry for them for not having what others had. Kevin says heÍs sorry. Lucy says she did have some nice Christmases, and they would try to have a good time, but when sheÍd go to school the next day, she would see other kids with new clothes and things and feel deprived. She says she really admired Scarlet OÍHara and that sheÍs grown up and can buy anything she wants. But she really appreciates that sheÍs grown up enough to know that thatÍs not the important thing, the important thing is being together with people you love. Kevin is stunned by her proclamation and says he is amazed, inspired and touched. He says sheÍs his oxygen, and his reason for living. She says theyÍre that for each other. He says something happened at LauraÍs funeral and he didnÍt tell her. Her honesty and love impelled him to tell her what happened. He doesnÍt know how to begin. Kevin says he was standing over LauraÍs grave and he had an image of he and Ryan as little boys playing on his motherÍs grave. He says obviously that never happened because his mother died when he was an adult, but it was like an imagined wish of a child that his mother be dead. Lucy asks why heÍs so upset. Kevin says he doesnÍt know what else is down there, and she should be upset too. Lucy says ñPhooey.î and says that his mother was a hateful, demented person who was a child molester and that his feelings are natural. She says heÍs looking for monsters and his feelings are finally coming out. For him to heal, he needs to not examine everything for a bad motive. In her inimitable way, she says, ñSometimes a sausage is just a sausage.î KevinÍs like, ñFreud, and it was a cigar.î He finally accepts what she says about reading too much into it, and they embrace, tears in their eyes. Taggert and the police are in the mystery womanÍs apartment taking pictures. Sonny arrives and asks if they got to her and where she is. In a really irritating way, Taggert says ñGone. Bye-bye. Just like youÍre going to be. You are going down for this." He says Sonny is dealing drugs and that heÍs the reason thereÍs so much on the streets lately. Sonny says heÍs an idiot. Taggert tries to insult Sonny by saying his ñgirlfriend even picked the other guy.î He's got to do better than that. At home, Jax and Brenda seem uncomfortable. Brenda asks how the flight was. He says he missed her. They go to kiss and bump noses. Brenda asks when they became strangers again. Jax says ñI donÍt know, are we?î Brenda says that if she hadnÍt gone and found Sonny, he would have died. Jax says she did what she had to do, just like he had to bring Miranda back to Port Charles. Reluctantly, Brenda asks if he made love to Miranda when he found her in Australia. He says he was hoping sheÍd never have to ask that question. She was too. He says they didnÍt, and heÍs sorry for all the trouble theyÍve had to face because of him. He says he still canÍt live without Brenda. She says, ñThen donÍt.î They kiss and embrace one another. Mac says itÍs incredible how KatherineÍs shooting happened. Miranda is surprised Katherine was shot on the island. Mac explains about KatherineÍs friendship with NIckolas and how his mother had just died. When he mentions the name Cassadine, she seems to get very anxious, and her hands tremble as she gets a cup of water. Happy Holidays!!
