Subject: Re: UPDATE, 12/17, Tuesday Sent: 12/18/96 12:11 PM From: wendy.doucette@octel.com Today's Show: "Setting the Wheels in Motion" Appearing: Jax, Miranda Brenda, Sonny, Mike Mac, Katherine, Felicia Nikolas, Stefan, Bobbie, Alexis Also Appearing: Alan NEW today, Dt. Taggart (somebody's a fan of PBS!) In their little Australian hut, Jax and Miranda are still in a clutch from yesterday. At the hospital, Brenda holds Sonny's hand and kisses it. Mac sees Katherine wheeled into ER on a gurney, and is stunned. Alan takes care of her while Mac asks Stefan and Nikolas who did it. <opening credits roll> Nikolas says Stefan found Katherine on Spoon Island and saved her life. Alexis arrives. Mac asks why Nikolas was with Katherine earlier. Bobbie updates Mac on what happened. Alexis starts to take Stefan aside to get the scoop, but Bobbie says they're a family now and have no secrets. Bobbie asks Stefan who might have shot Katherine and Stefan flashes back to the shooting. [Personally, I still do not get what Stefan was trying to do when this happened. Maybe he's just confused over everyone calling him "ste-FAHN" ever since he got married.] Alan tells Mac that Katherine has massive internal bleeding and is unstable. They must operate *now.* Mac talks to Katherine but she's still unconscious. Sonny wants to know how Brenda knew he was in trouble. Brenda says it was weird not to see him at the funeral. Then she got a feeling and just knew. They hold hands again. Sonny is about to ask her something when Mike enters. Mike talks about the setup and Brenda says she's checked the security and won't leave Sonny's side. Mike says Brenda never left Sonny's side. Mike gets all gushy and leaves, and Brenda starts to cry too. She doesn't know what she'd do without Sonny. Jax and Miranda are about to go horizontal. They do! Jax *suddenly* remembers he's married and gets off of her. He says it's not a question of wanting but of loving her. Miranda gets defensive again. There's no going back; that's why he shouldn't have come. He says she can't keep running away from their unfinished business, and she says some problems have no solution. They have nowhere to go. If not for Brenda, they'd be together now, but he's not an adulterer, and she won't love a married man. Jax says it's not over because they're still married. Sonny says he has memory gaps, but he'll never forget how Brenda saved him. They start to kid around and it truly does look like a return of the old days (18+ months ago). Sonny says he hasn't felt this way in a long time, and Brenda looks on adoringly. Mac kisses Katherine's hand while she's being prepped for surgery. He starts promising her everything he can think of, and says he loves her. When Katherine is *finally* wheeled away for her extremely urgent operation, Mac cries. The Cassadines wait outside and Stefan flashes back to the shooting again. Alexis says the guards said Luke and Lucky were there and wants to know why. Detective Taggart (NEW CHARACTER) arrives and says there were two sets of prints on the gun. He asks Stefan why Katherine was there, and who would want her dead. Stefan flashes again, and blanks out for the moment. <ambulance rushes by> Stefan says he heard a gunshot, etc. Nikolas mentions Luke being on the island and Bobbie defends Luke, while Alexis accuses Luke. Stefan says he's not a citizen, and so can't own a gun, but his guards do. Bobbie says a guard might have done it. Nikolas calls Mike over as a witness and says Luke and Katherine argued at the club a few days ago. Bobbie is shocked and Mike says Luke had no reason to shoot an innocent woman. Taggart puts an APB out on Luke. Stefan wipes blood off of his shirt and hands. Felicia shows up and comforts Mac, who's still crying alone in the empty ER. [What, she has a police scanner at home?] Mac blames himself, and feels bad about arguing with Katherine and ignoring her because of Miranda. Jax says Brenda found out that without a death certificate, Miranda and Jax are still married. Since John Jax never ordered one, Miranda could still claim their marriage is valid. Nikolas is pacing wildly and Bobbie says he can't make up stories just to get Luke. He wants to know how she, now a Cassadine, can defend him. Nikolas walks off. Bobbie takes Stefan to get dry clothes and thanks him for the risk he took for her by not mentioning Luke, or the fight, or the gun when the detective asked. Stefan says Nikolas has been distant lately. He didn't even know Nikolas and Katherine knew each other. Felicia goes to the waiting room and leaves Mac alone. Alan enters and says Katherine is still unstable. The bullet is still too close to the spine and another operation is necessary. [I foresee a "temporary paralysis" storyline approaching just like Dylan on OLTL and Trevor on AMC, although Trevor was just MIRACULOUSLY cured last week...] Sonny wakes up, and sees Brenda dozing in the chair. [If Sonny's so rich, why isn't he in the private room by now? You know, THE room. The one Brenda was in when she got run over, and Laura was in when she went hysterical, and Kevin after he went catatonic, and Tiffany after she went crazy, and Stone when he got really sick, and Edward after his heart attack and Monica after her breast surgery, and...well, you get the idea. Stay on GH long enough, and you wind up in that room.] They share another cozy moment until Mike bursts in and says there are cops everywhere. He thinks they're after Sonny, and wants Sonny to get his story together. Mike awkwardly hangs around another minute, then leaves. Sonny needs to say something, but he doesn't think Brenda wants to hear it. He says whoever did this needed to get to her. Jax says if Miranda is telling the truth, she'll go back to PC with him to get a divorce and "closure." She does point out they could do that locally. [Why doesn't he just come out and say "gratuitous, glaring plot point." It would be easier.] Bobbie's dressed Stefan in dry doctor's clothes. Alan says Katherine is looking bad. Felicia goes with him to tell Mac. Dt. Taggart enters and says one set of prints on the gun was Luke's. (He doesn't mention whose the others were). Taggart says Katherine should be able to identify the shooter. [My husband insists Katherine said "Stefan" when he shot her but I believe he is WRONG. She didn't say anything, just looked surprised and fell to the ground in a neatly-composed prone position like "Sleeping Beauty."] Stefan looks worried, and leaves. Alexis follows. Alan tells Mac the news while Stefan looks in from the other side of the glass door.
