Subject: Re: UPDATE, Tues., 12/10/96 Sent: 12/11/96 2:21 PM From: wendy.doucette@octel.com UPDATE, TUESDAY, 12/10/96 Today's Show: "KA-BOOM!," or, "Who's Playing Whom?" Appearing: Brenda, Jax, Miranda Bobbie, Felicia Stefan Katherine, Nikolas Mac, Lucky, Luke Also appearing: Sonny, Jason, Gina, Mike At her house, Brenda paces in front of the fireplace waiting for Jax to come home. At the "beach," Miranda flashes back to the conversation she and Jax had at dinner earlier. Jax arrives, by coincidence, and puts his overcoat around her because she's cold. At the brownstone, Bobbie, packed, takes a last look around. [With pictures on the mantel, fresh flowers all over and a fire in the fireplace, she hardly seems to be moving out]. Felicia comes in and hears Bobbie on the phone asking about her husband. Felicia naturally thinks it's Tony and that Bobbie and he have gotten back together. In a replay from yesterday, Laura enters the "castle?" in Rochester. If you remember, Stefan had wanted to give Laura back her mother as a wedding gift (and Laura thinks this is *sweet*?) Anyway, she's in the building and 20 seconds later, a massive explosion blows the doors off the building. <opening credits> Stefan tries to get up but a second explosion knocks him down. He gets on the car phone and screams for an ambulance. Felicia makes things worse by saying what a joke marrying Stefan would be. Bobbie says she told no one because she didn't want to have to deal with their pessimism. Bobbie says she is absolutely NOT rebounding, and divorced a cheating husband in favor of a lover. Of all people, Felicia should understand spontaneity. [WHAT is going on with Felicia's hair?] Jax and Miranda walk on the beach. Miranda says she is overwhelmed by her feelings. [Ok; an epidemic. WHAT is going on with Miranda's hair today?] Miranda and Jax each say they go to the beach when they need to think about each other. Jack has another diatribe on feelings, how much he loved her, etc. Miranda says Jax knew she was dead, so he moved on. She knew he was alive, so she held on. She knows what she has to do. Does he? Brenda, still pacing, calls Lois and gets her machine. [COULD they not allow the viewers to hear even a voice conversation with Lois if we never get to see her?] Brenda tells Lois's machine about seeing Miranda's letters and that she knows Miranda wants Jax, the *first* women he loved enough to marry. At Luke's, Sonny insults Mike when he asks Sonny what it means that Brenda's hanging around again. Sonny tells Mike to watch Nikolas. Luke blows in (pretending to be drunk?) and orders scotch. He sees Katherine and Nikolas together. Jax has no answer and Miranda says things are all wrong now. They're not 19 anymore, and he should go home to his wife. She leaves and he stays on the beach. Luke says he can't keep the Cassadines out of his life. Katherine says Nikolas is just a kid and Luke should leave him alone. Mac and Lucky arrive at the explosion. They were called by the PCPD who got a call that Laura was involved in a fire. Stefan is hysterical but trying to control it. Overcome by guilt, he tells Lucky that Laura was in the fire. Lucky draws on the acting skill he developed *last* year when Laura was caught in the Ward House fire, and goes crazy. <and the ambulance goes by...> Mac restrains Lucky, who says that this is a trick and that all of the Cassadines are killers. The cop says there were two female bodies inside, but no survivors. Stefan explains that Leslie had been in a sanitarium in Greece all these years. He'd brought her to Rochester a few months ago. Lucky wants Luke. He and Mac leave. [Strange, in this age of cell phones not to use one.] Lucky vows to kill Stefan if Laura is dead. Stefan absolutely had no idea about any of this. Nikolas says Luke has no right to insult him. Katherine wants Nikolas to rise above it and wants to know if he's using her to bother Luke. Nikolas says he's a resident of PC and has the right to go anywhere. Katherine defends him more, which makes things worse. Luke calls Nikolas one of Katherine's toys. Katherine, not wanting to watch Nikolas play Luke's stupid games, leaves. Nikolas tries to follow, but Luke grabs his arm and says he's going to lay down the house rules. Jax comes home, and, wiped out, doesn't want to get into a big conversation with Brenda. She probes for details of what went on, and wants to know when Miranda is leaving. At Mac's, Miranda is already there when Katherine walks in. Miranda says she made a fool out of herself trying to seduce Jax. It was like nothing had ever happened and she wanted him back, but she ran out because she no longer had any right to him. Katherine says Miranda should go for it, and Miranda says she's being unfair to everyone. Felicia is still hanging around at Bobbie's. They hug, but then Felicia says Bobbie should talk to Tom about the stress she's been under. Bobbie is mildly insulted. Luke tells Nikolas that there are no kids allowed at Luke's, when...out of the Time Portal, Lucky and Mac appear. Lucky comes in like a wildman, and tries to attack Nikolas. Lucky tells Luke about Laura, and Luke goes crazy. Nikolas runs out. Luke rushes off, too, saying he has to do something ALONE. Katherine says Brenda has gone after a married man before. Why shouldn't Miranda? Mac enters and tells Katherine about Laura. The explosion brought back too many memories for him. He goes upstairs to be alone. Miranda and Katherine touch hands. [When is the big hug coming between these two gal-pals?] Miranda pulls out a passport and looks at it, but *we* know she's going nowhere. Jax says the subject of Miranda's leaving never came up. Brenda is trying to not be jealous, but she is. She loves him and feels like her future is tied to his past--a past she can't share. The fire is out, but Stefan is still standing there. The cop says there are no survivors. Stefan says he's ok [and the cop lets him drive himself home in that condition!] Stefan lets loose and sobs, collapsing on the hood of his car. Bobbie asks Felicia to give her a moment alone before leaving. Felicia asks Bobbie not to divorce "them all." Bobbie says she *will* be happy. Luke appears on Bobbie's doorstep. In a red-herring double entendre, she says, "You already know, don't you?" <end>
