From: cglass@nyx10.cs.du.edu (Cyndi Glass) Subject: GH: UPDATE Wednesday Dec 4, 1996 Date: 5 Dec 1996 13:58:55 -0700 Substituting for Rika... Highlights of the day: Alan & Monica, Sonny & Mike, Lucas & Nikolas, Emily's hair, The Eddie Maine Fan Effect, Lucy's hair, and the Sonny/Brenda Wuthering Heights moment (thanks to whoever came up with this-it's perfect). Line of the Day: There were several, but the topper had to be Alan, shaking with rage: "That WAS self control." Sidney Bear was growling today. Scene 1: Quartermaine Mansion: A plentiful tray of danishes appears, letting us klueless kids know it's morning. Edward's grousing about not having his newspaper. He's called a meeting, about what I'm not sure because they never really began it. Lila is there, along with Alan and Monica, united and nervous. Ned and Justus rally around as Edward continues to grouse until a very jittery Reginald brings in the newspaper. Edward says "Oh my God," and points out today's headline: "Compromised Physician Files Sex Charges Against Dr. Monica Quartermaine." Monica blushes but holds firm, Alan by her side. Scene 2: Jax & Brenda's suite: They're obviously in the middle of an uncomfortable discussion, when Lucy drops in. She's dressed in a brilliant green turtleneck, a nice leather jacket, and a hairpiece that is a work of art. She chatters away, reminding Brenda that she needs to go back out on the promo tour. Brenda looks like it's the last thing in the world she wants to do. Scene 3: Sonny's outside Luke's, and it's either very cloudy or still nighttime on this side of town. He's on the cell phone, demanding results. He wants to find out who's bringing the hard drugs into Port Charles so that he can bring them down. Mike overheard, carrying a case of wine on his shoulder, and he approaches Sonny, saying now might be the right time to give him this (a piece of paper). Scene 4: Luke and Lucky are safely ensconsed in Luke's office at the club, playing the computer game and trying to figure out what Stefan is trying to do. Lucky is frustrated and tries to tell his dad about the seemingly meaningless clues, such as Lady Mangard. Luke ponders. Scene 5: Bobbie and Lucas arrive in the fog on the island, coming to visit Stefan. Is it before school? Saturday? Did she call him in sick? Just curious. Lucas' reaction: "Wow...." OPENING MONTAGE (yes, all that was before. For some reason the scenes were crammed full and very short today). Scene 6: Bobbie introduces Lucas and Stefan to each other. Nikolas arrives and Lucas is immediately enthralled and runs off to explore the place. Nikolas conveys that he has heard the news of the upcoming marriage and approves. Bobbie is happy, but she has not yet told Lucas that she plans to marry Stefan. Stefan knows that something unpleasant has happened, and Bobbie tells him about Tony taking Lucas to eat with Carly on Thanksgiving Eve, against her wishes and without telling her. Stefan kisses her and tells her "the men in your life up to this point have been fools." Scene 7: Luke & Lucky are still at the office, and Lucky is still frustrated. Luke says "We're smarter than the shadow man...aren't we?" Scene 8: Outside, Sonny asks Mike what this is all about, and Mike tells him that he happened to see this drug pusher handing out drugs like candy, and he followed him home, to help Sonny out. Sonny explodes, telling Mike to stay out of it. Mike grins, and in the runner up Line Of The Day says: "If this is your subtle way of saying to me that you don't want me to take a slug for you again, thanks, son." Sonny stares after him as he goes in, speechless. Scene 9: Back at the suite, Lucy is chattering away, oblivious to the fact that both Brenda and Jax are uncomfortable and that she has interrupted something. She implores Brenda that the holiday campaign needs to be done right away. Brenda tries to explain that they have a lot of things to work out. Lucy doesn't see what the problem is. "You're still married, right?" Brenda just looks over at Jax as if to say, well? No one answers. He announces that he needs to see Miranda. Lucy asks if that is a problem. Brenda rather testily retorts "Why would it be a problem?" Lucy tries to be helpful, pointing out the legal fact that if he is still married to Miranda, then no, the marriage is null, as she slowly starts to buy a clue that Brenda is really upset about this. "It can be fixed, right?" Commercial Scene 10: Edward is stewing and fretting about the article. Lila says "What absolute drivel!" Edward accuses Alan and Monica of finding the situation amusing, and Monica says "It's either that or tear my hair out, and I haven't had it back that long." Alan is incredible in these scenes. Ned and Justus are outside away from everyone, and Justus is somewhat shocked at this folder of info that Nedly is giving him. He's not comfortable with completely annihilating Jax. Emily Arrives, complete with new goth look, funky hair and tons of eye makeup for her day in seventh grade, or eighth, or whatever. Edward is appalled. She also has acquired an Attitude and is snarky right back. They remind her of what the family is dealing with, and Monica tells her she looks much better with no makeup at all. Emily says that Blair Bixler called and asked her if it was true about the charges and she hung up on her. They offer to take her to school, and she says perkily that she will walk. Monica worries that she is taking this too well. Justus and Ned argue. Ned points out that they are all doing what's best for the family business, the Quartermaine Creed. He asks if Justus has cold feet. Justus says better that than a cold heart. Ned reminds him that he's going in a few months and someone will be taking over, implying that it will be Justus, and says he'd better get used to it. "I want Sonny, and I want Jax, off the board before I go." Scene 11: Brenda apologizes and tries to explain again, compares the situation to the one that Lucy is dealing with. Lucy goes off on a tangent about separating business from friendship and how hard it is. Brenda asks how Kevin is. "Kevin is a beautiful, confused person," Lucy says. "Ah, what a coincidence," Brenda replies. They bond a bit. Lucy says she will cope with whatever decision Brenda makes but she needs to know ASAP. Jax is on the phone, highly irritated with whomever it is. Lucy leaves, rather abruptly, with an uncomfortable "Ta." Brenda asks when he will see Miranda. He confronts her about listening in on the phone call, and she doesn't deny it. He says he was going to tell her he was going, and she says she was going to tell him about listening in, probably. He says that he figured out she wasn't planning on hanging up and didn't want Miranda to go through that. "Who were you protecting, me or her?" Brenda asks. "I'm trying for both," he says. "Well, no wonder you're exhausted," she says. She brings up the fortune teller in New Orleans who said that somene would turn out to be two faced. Jax says "Maybe she meant me," and obliviously goes on about being torn in two, not noticing Brenda's pain. (sorry, I *am* trying to be objective. I'll be better.) Commercial Scene 12: The hospital lobby: Alexis is meeting with Alan and Monica in the lobby to go over the case. Alan says that once he starts to lumber down the halls all he's going to hear is silence. Monica says that some people have cancelled appointments and people are talking. Alan suggests using loss of income in a countersuit and calls Dorman a toad. Dorman arrives at the nurse's station, and Monica bounds up, against Alexis' alarmed pleas not to do anything, and she confronts him, saying something about both of them getting dragged down in the mud he's slinging, and he smirks. "Sounds kinky. I'm due in the O.R." Alexis decides maybe they should hold their meeting somewhere a little more private. Scene 13: Kevin shows up at the hospital, having completely missed his board meeting about whether or not they would keep him on staff. Lucy frets. "I guess I lost track of time," he shrugs, and she begins to panic. Was she wondering if he was being alt.kevin again? I know I was. Is he testing her here? I'm lost. They aren't on enough to keep track of this plot, rant rant rant. He has decided to resign, treating the whole thing very glibly. Lucy doesn't understand. Scene 14: Ned is at the hospital, flirting with a girl at the nurse's station. "How do I go about getting some medical records?" he asks. "You're Eddie Maine!" the girl flutters. Ah, a fan. Having thereby paved the road, Ned smiles at her and encourages her, saying that he could always ask his uncle Alan. She says she can help him. "And you're so much prettier than Alan," Nedly says. Scene 15: Lucky finished Level 3 and gets to Level 4. Everyone looks away in time to miss Leslie's grave on the screen. The laptop is again modemless. They discuss the landmarks of the game. Scene 16: Stefan asks Bobbie how long must he wait to marry her. Bobbie says it will be a big adjustment for Lucas. Lucas runs into the room: "Can we stay for always?" Nikolas says he is having a lot of fun. Stefan says it is the first time Nikolas has said that since they came to town. She's concerned that Lucas' relationship with Tony will suffer. Stefan says that is up to Tony and that it angers him to think that Tony is moving on with "that young toy" and is having no problem including Lucas, yet she feels hesitant. "You and Lucas will lack for nothing here," he promises. They discuss having a wedding, and he has realized that she wants a real wedding, with the gown, the candles, the flowers, etc. He opens this hope chest and brings out four dresses that he has chosen. Bobbie is enchanted and takes them out, completely pleased and overwhelmed. Stefan smiles a real smile. "Marry me, Barbara. Here. Tonight." She's sparkling. It's nice to see. It's been a long time. Commercial Scene 17: Stefan apologizes for being presumptuous. She loves the dresses and tells him everything's fine. He guessed her size correctly. He's already made a few wedding plan phone calls. Half the GH viewers in TV Land wonder excitedly if this means he spoke with Katherine on the phone offscreen and they missed it. He teases her and asks if she feels bullied. She says she is amazed, dazzled and so touched. Stefan says "we all want you here." All? Who is all? All two of them? the staff? Is Helena there? Leslie? They are both Grandma, right? Spooky. Bobbie grins at him and sparkles some more. "I will marry you tonight, Stefan. Why not?" Scene 18: Lucky, Mike, Luke and Sonny crowd around and try to figure out the landmarks. Lucky says it's about a place called Long Whiskers, a place in the mountains that he went to in eighth grade. So....he's in high school now???? Sonny notices that the trail leads out of town. They agree that it might lead out of town to divert them and maybe they ought to be looking closer to home. Luke leaves suddenly, telling Sonny to keep an eye on Lucky. Mike leans over Lucky, suggesting that he write down the clues to try to keep track of them. Sonny stares at Mike, and I imagine that he's wishing Mike had been around to be a dad when Sonny was Lucky's age. Dunno. Mike comes over to him and asks if he got a chance to look at the information. Sonny says "Yeah, and that's all you need to know." The last thing he needs is for someone on the outside to get taken down (his exact words). Mike says "Inside? Outside? Who draws those lines, Sonny? Who decides who does and doesn't get hurt." Well, duh, Mike. Your son is a mob dude. Who do you think? Scene 20: Brenda arrives to talk to Ned, since he is the only friend she has left since Lois and Robin left the show and TPTB's attempt at a Lucy and Brenda friendship earlier in the show didn't really seem to work. She confides in him, says she is out of denial and scared. She tells him that she read Miranda's love letters from Jax, and Ned doesn't bat an eye, managing a look of near-approval. The letters told her that J&M were soulmates, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Ned reminds her that was then and this is now. Says Jax loves her. "That's what he's saying, right?" Ned asks. Brenda says that she had only just realized how much she loved Jax, and that she's been trying to do things to bring them closer together but everything seems to make him angry. "Angry...and protective of HER." She says that he tries to reassure her, but it rings hollow. Ned comforts her and says he is listening, the rat. Scene 21: Jax is on the computer, staring at the phone. He calls Miranda and leaves a message that he needs to see her, can't wait much longer. He says there are things they need to resolve for both their sakes. Scene 22: Dorman and Fan Nurse are walking around discussing a patient's file. Emily approaches in New Teen Look. She's looking for Nikolas. Dorman converses with her, and she's cocky and dismissive of him. Alan approaches and they get into it. Alan asks why he feels he has to destroy Monica's reputation. "Whose reputation are you really concerned about, Alan? Monica's? Or yours in the sack?" Alan bristles, and roomie and I agree that Dorman will soon be added to Alan's murder victim list. Alexis and Monica come up to him as Alan's eyes light up with rage and Dorman leaves. Alexis advises both of them to have some self control. "That WAS self-control," Alan growls through clenched teeth. Youch. Scene 23: Kevin and Lucy are still there, and she's trying to change his mind. "I have thunk and re-thunk," Kevin says. He says that now he will be free to get up, greet the day, greet Lucy, take a walk, paint, read a book. Lucy is antsy about this, says he's always been so... "Productive?" he asks. "Professional," she amends, smoothing it over. He suggests he might write a book or do some consulting. She goes off to call Tom, and Alexis comes to him to ask him to consult with her on the sexual harassment case, to put together a profile of the kind of man who would fabricate a case to hurt an ex-lover. He says it is very timely and agrees, asking why me? "Why not?" she says. They agree, shaking hands, and Kevin says "Why not?" Lucy approaches, disliking this new development. Scene 24: Stefan calls Alexis on her cell phone & invites her to the wedding. He takes out Timoria game disk 3 and puts in level 4. And here we thought Bobbie had distracted him from all this. Tsk tsk. The music in this scene is beautiful. Nikolas comes down, calls him impetuous for doing this so soon and asks what the rush is (oh, hmmm could it be related to the phone call that Luke got saying Helena had left Greece? DUH.) "Patience is only a virtue when it is necessary," Stefan counsels his young charge. Bobbie and Lucas arrive at the BatCave, um, sorry, Wyndemere, and Bobbie has told Lucas about the wedding. Lucas is hyped up about living in the castle and couldn't care less. "This place has so many secrets!" he cries happily. Stefan promises Bobbie that her son will be happy here, and she says that she will too. Scene 25: And the game continues. On and on and on it goes, yawn. Lucky asks for a map, and Mike says he thinks there is one around somewhere. Sonny tells Jason on the phone to watch the guy's house. "Do not, and I'm gonna repeat this, Jason, do NOT rush in there." He hangs up, and Ned arrives, asks if Sonny is willing to discuss Australia and a little town called Cooper's Ridge. Commercial, including one for OLTL, in which I got to catch a glimpse of Hillary Smith. :) Scene 26: Q mansion--Monica and Alan arrive home after work. He continues to be supportive, and she says that she doesn't know how she would have gotten through the day without him. His hand hurts and he takes more pills. They discuss Emily. "I hope she hasn't dyed her hair blue," Monica says. "It'd be worth it just to see the look on Father's face," Alan answers. I agree. :) Scene 27: The Wuthering Heights moment :))))))))))))))) *objectivity off* Outside Luke's, Brenda comes slowly up to the door. She does not touch the door knob or open it in any way. Inside, Sonny turns away from the game and gazes over at the door, as if he sees her there, but the door has not moved. He just knows she is there. He is aware of her presence. Outside, she miserably walks away. Sonny goes back over to Lucky. That was SO cool. Scene was rewound several times. :) *objectivity back on* Scene 28: Bobbie opens yet another present from Stefan--a creamy lace nightgown. She asks how he can possibly know her taste and all the things she has dreamed of having since she was a little girl. Stefan says "That's part of the mystery between us, Barbara." What, has he had a bug in her house for the last 18 years or something? He's not telling. He's already told her he knows she was a prostitute and gave a daughter up for adoption and about all her boyfriends and husbands (except her fling with Damian and her almost-fling with Alan), so I wouldn't be surprised at all. He admits he rushed her into it and wants to know if she's sure. She is. He gives her a mondo huge engagement ring. Roomie wonders if there is a slow acting mind altering drug or poison laced around the band, or a tiny bug or something. :) Scene 29: Luke approaches Wyndemere, on the hunt for Helena. Unaware of his sister's upcoming marriage to Stefan tonight, he begins to climb the stairs, hears a noise, and is conked on the head. He falls unconscious to the ground. --Cyndi * Cyndi Glass * email: cglass@vunet.vinu.edu * Vincennes University * -- CEO FGCO Sonny & Brenda (Intense Connection); FGC Brenda's Warm Heart; FGC Sonny (Brooding); FGC Mike (Comfy Black Couch); FGCO Kevin & Lucy (Strength); FGC Lucy (Lovely Velvet Turtleneck); FGC Bobbie (Spencer Survival Genes); CEO MHGC AJ (Unforgivable Lies to Keesha).
