Subject: Sent: 11/12/96 12:35 PM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com UPDATE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7 A talky talky day, but not much happened, apart from the Return of the Ominous Knell of Doom! AT THE QUARTERMAINES Mac sees Miranda in the Q lobby and says "M'randa?" which sounds like "Brenda" when he says it, as well. Why did TPTB pick such similar names? They hug with Sonny watching. Mac and Miranda go outside where they hug again. She had wanted to die after the accident, she couldn't have Jax looking at her with horror and pity. She claims this way was the best for everyone. She says Mac was always a sucker for damsels in distress. They go off to the hospital to see how John is. Ned applauds Sonny and they talk. Sure, John is dirty, buyt what does that have to do with Jax? Ned cusses out Sonny for breaking Brenda's heart. (Pot. Kettle. Black. With friends like Ned, why does she need enemies?) Sonny uses a gangster metaphor: "Brenda got caught in the crossfire. It was unfortunate but unavoidable." Sonny points out that Ned is being two-faced about hurting Brenda. And "her so-called husband is a liar, a bigamist, and a fraud." (This to Ned, a liar, bigamist, and fraud. I'm surprised Sonny could keep a straight face!) Ned says he got zip. He doesn't think Brenda will EVER forgive Sonny. Edward chortles in with "the same speechwriter." Sonny doesn't buy it. THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT "GENERAL HOSPITAL" John is in the ER. Brenda, Jax, and Lady Jane are pushed out while Monica works her magic with the paddles and John gets a heartbeat. Justus talks to Brenda, Brenda talks to Keesha, and tells about Miranda. Jerry is on the phone. Jane goes to see John. Edward calls Justus to check on Keesha and John. He plans to make business hay on John's illness. There's a real estate deal in Tampa which will now go his way. Edward also tells Ned that he figures Brenda will do well monetarily if she decides to divorce Jax. Meanwhile, Brenda and Jax will talk later, but she says nothing has changed. She has a few words with Jane while Jax goes in to see John, and then goes to the phone (calling whom?) and sees Miranda at the elevator. She tells Miranda that John is doing better. Meanwhile, Mac and Mike are discouraging Sonny from entering the hospital. Alan, who somehow had time to change clothes, talks to Monica for a second about John before he heads off to the ER to see about an accident. But before he can get there, Lonnie, a 12-yr-old former resident of Ward House, is brought in with a drug overdose. Keesha and Justus are appalled. Keesha raves. They miss MaryMae. Lonnie dies, Alan and Monica talk, and the Ominous Knell of Doom nearly drowns out Monica's remark that she is "grateful that Emily is smart enough to know better." Can you say "foreshadowing?"
