Confrontations galore at GH: The update for Thursday, Oct. 24.

1. IT'S PROFESSIONAL, NOT PERSONAL

Alan and Monica are talking. Monica asks how Alan sees Stefan's function?
He replies, "Director of benevolence." [Your Fearless Updater kept hearing
"MALevolence" here! YFU likes that better!] Stefan is making everyone
nervous as hell. Alan saw a nurse panic when Stefan asked her to turn
off an air conditioner. Monica brings Alan a terrible cup of coffee,
probably left over from before they closed: thus maintaining the sense of
continuity. [Aha! THAT's where it is! No wonder the writers can't find
it!] Alan's hand is doing well, thanks to "your buddy Dorman." He's no
buddy of Monica's, he's a rat who jumped ship and GH is better off
without him. Monica is nervous, as she's about to have a meeting with
Stefan. Does Alan have any advice? He says, "Play it straight, that'll
confuse him! But don't turn your back!" Stefan comes up, all pleasant,
and they go off for a fresh cup of coffee.

Stefan wants to know what Monica thinks of Alan. She (professionally)
thinks he's wonderful. She suggests the first thing Stefan should do is
improve the coffee.

Back with Alan, Monica describes Stefan as "charmingly despicable. He
talks unity but he promotes dissension." He had wanted Monica to trash
Alan, but she'd said Alan was "a brilliant caring doctor and we are darn
lucky to have you at GH." Alan is amazed. Monica tells him "just don't
let it go to your head." Dorman interrupts, chases Alan off. He wants
to get back in at General Hospital and Monica says no. She really thinks
Mercy is the place for him. It's not personal at all, oh, no, it's a
professional assessment.

2. ST. STEVEN'S SHRINE

Tom reaches over Stefan to turn off Steve's computer and again wants to
know why Stefan is in the shrine. In fact, why did he stay in Port
Charles and rescue the hospital? Stefan counters by asking why Tom went
to Africa? Why, just yesterday he had made an impassioned plea for the
hospital and his father's dream, yet he had left and gone elsewhere. Did
he question the purity of his own motives? It didn't matter, did it, since
the end results were positive. Tom agrees that he will cooperate with
Stefan as long as it's for the good of GH.

Audrey comes in to ask what's going on, and Stefan tells them he's
turning the Shrine [uh, Steve's office] into a medical library so the
books can have the beautiful view. Tom takes Steve's computer, telling
Stefan that he can access anything he needs elsewhere.

Audrey doesn't think Tom is being fair to Stefan. Tom, however, is
angry, and thinks Stefan is doing background checks on everyone. He
thinks Audrey could do with a vacation. She dithers, because she doesn't
want to go alone. [This is a story they could do a lot more with, Audrey
not being prepared for widowhood and adjusting to it. We get hints, but no
real story. I suppose they think it's depressing... but as a public
service story, they oughtta go with it. Too ordinary with the vampires and
the sudden children, I guess.] Tom tells her "You're not going to lose your
past by having a future." She points out that he is still wearing his
African jewelery [which I first saw last update, which was "yesterday" PC
time!] which she always thought he was wearing to annoy Steve. When
she's gone, he tears off the bracelet and necklace.

3. LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER

Carly retreats in the elevator, and Bobbie rushes in and locks them in.
[Your Fearless Updater was hoping Carly would have more to say and inform
Bobbie she's a rotten Mom, but it was not to be.] Carly says "This isn't
your shift!" and Bobbie explodes. "It's MY hospital [we've been
commenting on this. It's her city, too, obviously.] and you have a hell
of a nerve showing your face here! You backstabbing little tramp! ... Why
did you pick Tony? Was it because you hate me, or was that just a
dividend? Was he especially gullible?" [She really thinks a lot of Tony,
doesn't she?] She raves about Lucas, conveniently forgetting how she
forgot his birthday last year because she was kissing Alan in the alley.
"Tony was blinded by his own midlife crisis, his own loss." She calls
Carly a wretched little homewrecker. Carly says she doesn't understand.
Bobbie goes on: "Everyone will take profound joy in seeing you fall on
your face." Then, opening the door at last: "Out on 2 for lying,
thieving, and adultery." There is Tony, as the door opens. Bobbie,
suddenly thinking she's British, (or Australian, maybe? Been seeing a
lot of Adrian, you think?) says "Look who I ran into on the lift. The
Queen of Tarts." [Once I got over my amazement at the "lift", I couldn't
believe Bobbie, of all people... Pot. Kettle.] Tony wants to know what
happened, but Audrey burbles up delighted to see Carly. She wants Tony
and Bobbie to give Carly a pep talk. She also tells them about the
medical library. Bobbie leaves, and Carly can't handle any more and goes
to the elevator [excuse me, I mean the "lift."] Tony follows long enough
for her to tell him she's at Jake's. He leaves the hospital and goes to
Jake's. Meanwhile, Bobbie is crying. Stefan comes up to her and hugs her.

4. THE GINGHAM DOG AND THE CALICO CAT

At the Quartermaine's, Edward asks how they'll get rid of Sonny and
Justus. Ned plans to throw them together. Justus points out that they
hate each other's guts. Jax comes in. Ned tells Edward and Justus about
the wedding. Sonny and Katherine come in. Katherine is there as a
consultant. She is critical to phase 2 (phase 1 was Ned's offer to buy
them out.) They must be seen getting along. She is to showcase their
commitment to work as a team. Sonny suggests he and Jax serve side by
side at a soup kitchen. Justus comments they'd better have aprons,
wouldn't want to splash their Italian suits. Ned mentions something
about the Stone Cates Memorial Wing and Sonny flares up: that is off
limits! Justus suggests the Charles Street Foundation, and Ned thinks
that would be good, with Justus supervising. Edward, however, thinks AJ
should supervise, and Ned can't let the cousinly hatred go. The phone
rings. Ned goes out on the patio: it's obviously about the baby.
Katherine stands in the doorway watching him.

5. FELICIA CONFRONTS KEVIN

Felicia comes into Kevin's room. This upsets Lucy, who doesn't think
he's up to this, but Kevin tells her he'll be all right. Lucy goes into
the hall. Felicia wants to hear from Kevin that it'll never happen
again. He can't promise that. She wants to know what it was that she
did? Did she look like a victim, send out signals? He tells her that
all it was was her resemblance to the twins' mother. Can Kevin be
helped? They can try. He has work to do and he doesn't know if it can
be done. Can Felicia understand that? Yes, and can Kevin understand
that she may never be able to forgive him? Yes, he can.

Felicia leaves and sees Lucy in the hallway. Lucy has been remembering
Dominique, who taught her how to be a friend. She is trying to be a
friend to Felicia. Felicia sayts that you have to stop making people
pay, and she is going to stop the whole vicious cycle of revenge. She's
going to ask Dara to drop the charges, and if Dara won't, Felicia will be
a hostile witness.

Lucy tells Kevin that Felicia is getting herself back. Kevin is not sure
he can get HIMself back. Felicia tells Tom she's dropping the charges
and they hug.
