       The General Hospital Update for Friday, Oct 4, 1996
           Written By: Kathy Ellington kathy@gundog.lbl.gov

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the week Sept 30 through Oct 4 from the local newspaper:
 [CONTAINS SPOILERS OF SCENES THAT DID NOT APPEAR ON THE DAILY BROADCAST]
After playing the tape recording of Tracy's last verbal assault on Lois, Ned
forced the Q clan to oust Tracy before he agreed to take over the financially
ailing ELQ. Ned insisted that in six months he plans to join Lois in Brooklyn.
Tracy fumed when she failed to extort money from Jax. Tracy made a phone call
to former business acquaintance Sydney Chase (of the City) after seeing her
photo in a magazine; she schemed to relieve her financial problems by black-
mailing Sydney with some dirt on her past. While Bobbie was observing B.J.'s
birthday by herself, Stefan learned Tony was having a fling with Carly. With
a little help from Alexis, Stefan was able to close down the financially
strapped General Hospital. Monica assisted when Pierce performed surgery on
Alan's hand. Kevin, who was led off to prison, began remembering everything
he did to Felicia after kidnapping her.

And now the Update for Friday, October 4:

Tracy Hits the Skids
==========================================================================
Ned visits Tracy in her low-rent motel room. She weasels around, trying to
put a positive spin on her actions of the last week. Ned will have none of it,
however, and stands firm. He says that Tracy's stock/money has been put into
a trust for her demon child, Dillon. Ned will be the one in charge of doling
out Tracy's living expenses and she'd better learn to like Top Ramen in a big
hurry. If she doesn't agree to his terms he'll give the damning audiotape to
Mac and Tracy will undoubtedly go to jail while Dillon will go live with Paul
and Aunt Jenny.

The Further Adventures of Loser-Boy
==========================================================================
A.J. is at the outback, rewriting an old speech Jason made against the toxic
thingy. Keesha buzzes in, angry as a little hornet. Seems that A.J. was
supposed to meet her in Kelly's, where she's been cooling her heels for the
past hour, and instead she finds him in a bar, surrounded by alcohol. They
have a few words and she's also p.o.'d because he blew off an AA meeting.

Dorman gives Alan A Hand! ... get it, A Hand?
==========================================================================
Monica suits up and joins Dr. ("Oh, Pierce me again!") Dorman in the
operating room while he's hacking away at Alan's hand. Dorman isn't thrilled
that Monica is there but allows her to stay/assist. After a successful
surgery Alan rests in recovery while Monica tries to mend fences with an
increasingly surly and snide Pierce "Knockin' on Heaven's" Dorman. Alan
finally emerges from recovery and Monica insists that she take him back to
the Q mansion for R&R. Dorman gives Alan some powerful pain pills [all the
better to disorient and dull your senses, my dear].

Tony Does a Tag-Team Dance with the Mother/Daughter 'Hobags
=============================================================================
At GH, Carly lurks in a hallway and gazes bovine-like at the cheap keychain-
thingy Tony gave her [wonder what she'd do if he gave her something worth more
than $1.98?]. He sneaks up and tells her they're heading to the Jones family
cabin for an overnighter. Carly is ecstatic but before she can escape from GH
Bobbie waylays her and tells her she's got to stay and make up a class she
missed. Shortly thereafter, Bobbie tells Tony that she's cancelled her evening
nurse's class (so Carly is off the hook) and why don't they spend a cozy
evening together, just like in the old days, eating weenies and sauerkraut
and playing "The Mean Nazi General Mounts an Assault on the Goo-Goo Eyed
Milkmaid"? Tony abruptly refuses, saying he's got a meeting and besides
sauerkraut gives him the winds, and sprints for the elevator. Stefan observes
the exchange and speaks quietly into his Dick Tracy-style wrist radio "he's
just leaving...follow them!" He moves in and engages Bobbie in a fakey
conversation about how he's concerned for Nikolas. He ends up inviting her
to join them for charred cow at the Outback; she declines and goes in search
of German soul food.

Meanwhile, Tony and Carly arrive at the cabin. He goes out to get firewood
and she places a quickie collect phone call to Virginia in Florida. She
tells Mom that she's fine, sorry she hasn't called before, she's met a great
guy [I can just hear Mary Martin from "South Pacific" singing..."I'm in LOVE,
I'm in LOVE, I'm in LOVE, I'm in LOVE, I'M IN LOVE with a WONDERFUL
G-U-U-U-Y!!!"]. Virginia is happy that Caroline is happy and later on, she
calls Bobbie and tells her she's heard from "their daughter" and relays the
news. [Say, isn't the number Carly called from going to appear on Virginia's
phone bill??]. Later on, Tony and Carly dance quietly to Eric Clapton's
"Change the World"...a nice, quiet, romantic scene in spite of the fact that
Tony is a two-timing piece of dirt and Carly is a budding 'ho who's knowingly
having sex with her stepfather.

That Wacky Stefan Cassadine!
=============================================================================
Stefan and Nikolas, who are at GH checking out Nik's ankle, agree to split
for now and meet up later at the Outback for some bitchin' burgers n'fries.
Stef and Dorman exchange knowing glances as Pierce is talking to Alan. Mean-
while, Tony walks up and gives Stefan some pain pills for Nik, in case his
ankle acts up; Stefan refuses the painkillers with a sneer. Later on they
meet at the restaurant. Nik admits he wandered the streets hoping to run
into Laura [guess Unkie didn't tell him the Spencers were out of town].
Stefan's phone rings and he gets a message that Tony and Carly are at the
cabin. He tells his faceless minion to "do nothing for now".

Filly Stands Firm
=========================================================================
In jail, Kevin remembers that he held a knife on Filly and he's afraid and
appalled by what he's done. Lucy tells him to calm down then goes in search of
Gail Baldwin ["fetch the animal tranquilizers, Nurse"]. He tells Lucy that he
doesn't want to face his fears. She tells him to get tough. Meanwhile Back in
PC, Mac yanks Felicia into the Outback's offices and talks turkey to her about
Doc KevinBunny. She's adamant about not dropping the charges. Katherine, who
is eavesdropping like mad outside the door, gets upset when she hears Mac tell
Filly that he loves her [but like a friend] AND Kevin (the love that
can't be spoken?) and her actions are tearing him apart (picture Mac doing a
James Dean number). Eventually, Mac convinces Filly to at least go and see
Kevin; maybe seeing him behind bars will make her reconsider. They arrive at
his cell just as he's being moved to the Graybar Hotel. Felicia calls him a
"son of a bitch" and Kevin responds quietly, "that's JUST what I am!" Filly's
heart doesn't soften and she watches as they take Kevin away, her
angry-chipmunk look firmly in place. Lucy turns and, in tears, shoots a
death-ray look at Felicia; unfortunately, chipmunk- girl doesn't burst into
flames.
