The General Hospital Update for Friday, Sept 20, 1996

The "Underwear" Update, in brief...

At the Spencer house, Laura reassures Lucky that Nikolas won't suffer any
permanent damage from his header down the stairs. Lucky semi-sneers and Luke
smirks at the interchange. Later on, Laura and Luke argue about what happened
between Lucky and Nik. Luke is still doing his full-blown "Paranoid MonkeyBoy"
act and he refuses to consider any other point of view. He makes Laura feel
guilty about supposedly "ignoring" Lucky then he delivers an ultimatum:
She must choose between Luke/Lucky or Nik[and implied Stefan]. She is crushed
and tells him she'll go to the hospital to tell Nikolas goodbye. But her anger
and resentment are bubbling just below the surface.

At GH, Bobbie stops by to tell Nik that another nurse will tend to him while
she is out of town. Stefan overhears and outside in the hallway he questions
her on where she's going. She huffily informs him that anything to do with
her private life is personal and he has no business even asking the questions.
She bounces her Bulwark down the hall and he makes a phone call to one of his
minions, ordering that Bobbie be followed. Later in the day, Nik tries out
his crutches by going for a cautious stroll in the corridor. He bumps into
Gina and the two of them hit it off.

At GH, in Lois' vacated room, Sonny and Brenda talk about trust, loyalty,
etc. and about Jax and the take-over of ELQ. Sonny advises her to be loyal
to her husband but not if it means losing her friends or putting herself in
danger...he points out Lily's fatal mistake. Brenda angrily responds that she
will not be made to feel guilty over her husband's business maneuvers and
stalks out of the room. Sonny goes home to find Jason doing some mob bookwork.
He tells the kid about Jax's attempts to grab ELQ; Jason isn't sympathetic to
the Quartermaines but The Fonz says he won't give up his seat on the ELQ board
without a fight...especially if it means losing to the Australian pretty-boy.

At the Quartermaine gatehouse, Ned explains the proposed 3-year employment
contract with ELQ and why it's vital to keep the company healthy. Lois, who
is unhappy at this turn of events, admits that she DID tell him to do what he
felt he must to protect the company and thwart Jax/Tracy but she also thinks
she might have been hasty in making such a promise. She plays the tape of
Tracy then says that when she's around the Q family she turns into "Lois The
Terrible". So, for the sake of their unborn child, she must remove herself
not only from proximity to the Quartermaines but to another town.
[Gee, so the other side of sprawling Port Charles isn't far enough, Lois?
Or moving out into the "country" to a house that's still a commute-able
distance for Ned isn't possible either, huh? Shame on yourselves, GH
writers, for creating this lame-ass excuse to break up this couple!]
Ned is stunned and, tearfully, they try to work it out. Final issues were
unresolved by end of show on Friday.
