Subject: GH: 8/19 Update Sent: 8/20/96 7:34 PM From: lraneri@babies.bsd.uchicago.edu Here is the 8/19 update. I tried to post it using trn, but it kept messing up. Any help in posting would be greatly appreciated!! GH 8/19/96 Update REMEMBERING STONE Gina comes in Luke's and thanks Sonny again for rescuing her from Kevin. Sonny says Kevin's not always so bad and that he helped Stone. Gina asks Mike if he knows Sonny and says he looks sad. Sonny looks pensive. Mike says sometimes the sadness just sneaks up on Sonny. Sonny comes over and asks Mike to open a bottle of wine for he and Gina to celebrate Stone's birthday. Gina says she thought she was the only one who remembered. Sonny says he's sure Robin remembers too but "she's moving on, God bless her." Gina, Mike and Sonny toast to Stone. Gina thanks Sonny again. Sonny says meeting her was like a gift from Stone. Sonny offers Mike to take her home and won't let her go home alone even thought she just lives at Kelly's. Mike takes her home, and Gina says Stone was lucky to have him. Alone in the club, Sonny lifts a glass to honor Stone's birthday. JASON AND ROBIN GET CLOSER Jason and Robin in a hotel. Jason asks why the hotel asked to check Robin's credit card; Robin said they probably thought it was a little strange with Jason trying to pay $900 in cash. Robin and Jason banter. Robin is a little somber but she says everything is perfect. She and Jason go outside and stare into the night at the ocean. Avoiding what's bothering her, Robin asks if Jason wants to go swimming. Jason calls her on it and says she doesn't have to lie to him, "ever." He asks what's wrong. After a sad pause, Robin says it's Stone's birthday. Jason comes over and holds her. Robin says she remembered about Stone's birthday when she signed the credit card receipt and realized it was Aug. 19. She thinks about last year when he was in the hospital getting treatment for CMV to try to prevent his eventual blindness. Jason remembers what Robin said at the Nurse's Ball: "It caused him unspeakable pain and stole his eyesight." Robin is amazed and touched that Jason remembered. Jason said he remembers every word of her speech and that she was "the bravest thing I ever saw." Robin says she didn't think she could get through her speech but when she looked up and saw him and he gave her strength. Jason says she does the same for him. He goes back in the room, grabs their things and, heading for the door, says he's taking her home because it's Stone's birthday and she's sad. Robin says she's happy to be there with him and although she loves and misses Stone, she wants to be with Jason and to stay where they are. They kiss. Jason breaks away from their kiss and says he can't stop wanting her. Jason says he doesn't want to hurt her and that he understands that she can't help it if she doesn't want him that way. Robin says she really does and that she dreams about being with him. Jason is confused. He says he wants to have sex with her but he knows they cant because Stone is "still in her heart." Robin says she used to think that, but Jason has a separate place in her heart. She says she wants to make love, but she doesn't want to put him at risk for HIV. He says he understands that her fear of putting him at risk would ruin sex so "I guess we'll never do it." Robin says "can I tell you how much I just hated hearing that?" Jason says he hates it because he thinks she's beautiful and just wants to hold her. Robin and Jason negotiate how they can be together, kissing, touching, and holding one another. Jason says he is willing to do whatever she feels comfortable with Looking like she's trying to convince herself, Robin says "I'm not afraid." She and Jason kiss some more and go for the bed. Later, Jason and Robin are together in bed caressing one another. Robin says she can't believe they can be together this way without having sex. Jason says if she has any other ideas, she should just speak up. Sweet, sweet, sweet. BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? Alan and Monica are still dining at the restaurant. Monica says she can't believe that the hospital is in such dire financial straits. Alan says Steve's love for the hospital lead him to bring in all these research projects that overextended the hospital. Alan says he has a "sickening feeling" that Steve ended up putting in a lot of his own money. Monica is shocked that Steve, the pragmatist, could let things get so out of control. Alan says he thinks Steve was following his heart. Alan says he doubts Audrey knew and that he won't tell her. Alan's strategy to save the hospital: "Cassadine." Monica is reluctant to count on the C's. Alan says he doesn't have a lot of other options: he's burned his bridges with Sonny and Edward's not interested in an investment where there will be no return. Monica says she knows but she hates it . Monica's only other alternative is to let Mercy take over and throw themselves on their mercy. Alan says he thinks Monica is starting to sound like Dorman: "Take what you can get, do what's expedient," and says that isn't the right answer. "Sometimes you've got to fight the good fight Monica. I mean try to remember you are a Quartermaine. We do that sometimes." Monica lets the Dorman barb pass and says GH is lucky to have Alan fighting for it. Alan and Monica looking sympathetic. Monica asks if Alan is disappointed about postponing the surgery. Alan says not really and then asks why they're talking shop when they're supposed to be celebrating. Monica said dinner was special because they got through it without having an argument. Alan agrees and gives her a rose. GAMES PEOPLE PLAY, or COUNT THE TIMES LAURA APOLOGIZES Stephan and Nickolas in Casa de DOOL. Nick wants to know what Stephan and Laura talked about. Stephan says Nick knows but if he wants to play games... Stephan said that after Alan and he had their meeting, Alan went over to Monica for "what appeared to be some sort of vague, half-hearted celebration of something." (Perceptive guy.) He said that "suddenly, halfway through her entree, Laura got up, went over to their table, and announced that you were her son., Fine move on your part. I applaud you." Nick looks stunned and perplexed. Luke and Lucky and Laura come in the house. Lucky seems to be very wired up and says he wants to stay up late to watch a movie. Lucky asks if Lulu is in her room and Laura says she's sleeping. Lucky says things are "almost back to normal, sort of" in his surly teenage voice and says goodnight only to Luke. Laura looks uncomfortable and Luke avoids looking at her. Laura says to go ahead and yell before he explodes. Luke doesn't want to fight, he just wants to hold a grudge. Laura says she had to tell Alan and Monica because she didn't want Nick to believe she was ashamed of him. Luke makes a snide comment about Laura being a "fierce mama bear." Laura tries guiltily to apologize but says she had to do what she did. Luke says she did what Stephan wanted her to do "again." Luke says Stephan's has been using Laura's guilt to get her to do what he wants. Laura perceptively says "really, I had no idea you saw me as so weak." Luke fires back with a condescending remark that starts with "woman" and ends with "darling." It seems Laura doesn't realize what skilled game players the Cassadines are and she isn't "fighting trim." Laura says she resents that. (Do I sense Laura's backbone reemerging? No such luck.) Back at the castle, Stephan commends Nick on what he said to provoke Laura to acknowledge him as her son. Nick says he didn't do anything and gets angry that she called herself his mother. Stephan turns it around and makes out like Laura is some kind of egomaniac who "gives herself the right" to claim motherhood and apologizes to Nick for Laura's "selfishness." Nick says he can't understand why she would speak of him so publicly or at all. Stephan implies that Laura wanted to let the "influential Quartermaine doctors" know her side of the story first because they are very powerful people around town. (ROTFLOL!!!! Boy, if the kid only knew!) Luke says he thinks it's funny that Laura resents what he said. Laura said Stephan didn't manipulate her, she manipulated him. Luke is skeptical. Laura says they've been feeding Nick with lies about her and Stephan was needling her and next thing she knew she was over at Alan and Monica's table. And next thing you know, she realizes she acted impulsively and played right into Stephan's hands and she's apologizing to Luke AGAIN. Luke says she's never been any good at chess and that the Cassadines have all their moves mapped out. Now that she's claimed Nick as her own, Luke is sure Stephan is going to use it against them in some way. Luke walks out, leaving Laura sitting distressed on the bed. She gets up and looks at the picture of her family. Laura realizes that Stephan will try to use what she said against Nick and tries to call him.. Stephan answers the phone. Laura asks him not to tell Nick about what happened and says she wants to tell him herself. With Nick right behind him, Stephan calls her Lasha and asks what she wants to keep from Nick. Nick grabs the phone. Laura tries to explain what happened earlier but he says he doesn't want to hear her "lies" and that Stephan already told him the truth. He said he wants to go to the Q's and tell them his side of the story, which will make her look bad. Laura apologizes for telling others about him without talking to him first. He says he didn't come to town to find her, he came to save his sister. Laura wants to explain, but Nick says he doesn't want to hear it and Stephan grabs the phone. He blames Laura for having to do "major damage control" with Nick. Of course, as Laura points out, he left out his role in goading her. Stephan says she's whining and he doesn't have time for it. and hangs up. Stephan leaves a message on Alan's machine saying he needs to ask a favor of him. Meanwhile, Sonny is drinking at the bar when Luke comes in. Luke asks what Sonny would make of Alan and Stephan "putting their heads together over dinner." Sonny says the hospital is in trouble and Alan already asked him for help. Luke says Stephan's working to make himself a town hero. Sonny offers again to "handle" Stephan.. Macho Luke says if Stephan's still standing when he gets through with him and Sonny wants, he can have a shot at him too. Luke and Sonny toast to his plan for Stephan Laura and Lucky at home. Laura says she thought he had his heart set on watching the movie. Lucky said he kept thinking about Lulu and ended up in her room, as did Laura. Lucky asks where Luke is . She says Luke went for a walk because he's angry at her and Lucky will be too. He says he doesn't want to be. She asks to let it lie for a night and he says he can't. Laura tells Lucky she told Alan and Monica about Nick, Stephan told Nick, Nick got upset. She asks Lucky if he's upset too. Lucky says it's okay and that it's important not to have secrets but he's clearly upset about Laura being upset about Nick being upset.. (Talk about a codependent family!) Sonny's still at the club. Mike comes back from taking Gina home and wants to take Sonny home. Sonny asked when was the last time he took orders from him. Sonny says "made it through another one." Mike replies, "You know something, you'll make it again tomorrow." Luke walks in the bedroom behind Laura. Laura gets a phone call from Stephan saying that he thinks he made have made a mistake in telling Nick what happened. He says Nick is very upset and they should meet. Laura says she would gladly do anything to help. Behind her, Luke glares. Stephan picks up the phone and says to someone, "Is everything alright?... Good....Be ready."
