Subject: GH Update 7/25 Sent: 8/3/96 11:21 PM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com UPDATE, THURSDAY JULY 25: WHO HEALS THE HEALER? Felicia waylays Kevin in the hospital. She's worried about Tom. Kevin tries to brush her off by saying it's just too bad Tom's mourning is making her uncomfortable, and Felicia, quite rightly, tells him off. What are they paying him the Big Bucks for, anyway? Kevin apologizes. Felicia meets Tom at the Outback, and surprise surprise, here's Kevin! Filly excuses herself to talk to Mac, and Tom figures out he's been ambushed. Tom has turned down a forensic job because of all the work at the hospital. Lucy comes burbling in, and Felicia waylays her. They look at the book ARTISTS OR MADMEN. Lucy: "Here's the chapter on Vincent Van Gogh or do you say 'Vincent Van *clears throat*?'" Felicia: "I don't mention him much." Lucy goes on about her favorite (and, since "The Scream" is, IMO inappropriately, in his office, Kevin's as well?) Edvard Munch. He went for the Olympic gold medal in nervous breakdowns. Felicia points out you can't believe everything you read, there are always folks who will read the worst into one's life. Lucy is relieved and kisses Felicia on the cheek. Felicia mutters "please don't kiss me like that again!" Meanwhile, Tom and Kevin are dicussing Kevin's father's death, and Steve's. Kevin asks Tom if he believes in life after death, and then postulates that people's psyches come into those closest to them. Tom's sudden responsibility toward the hospital is really Steve making the decisions. [Could be a Ryan-hint?] Felicia returns when she sees Tom smiling and Tom and she decide to go home for some casserole. Lucy comes back from the bathroom and Kevin and she discuss the book and his new paintings. CARLY WEASELS IN: [I gotta say, this actress is a real find! Bet she's offered bigger things soon! She conveys slyness, vulnerability, hurt, vindictiveness, all very well.] Carly waylays Tony at the Nurses' Station and tells him she's a bit worried about money. He refers a patient to her, and she's thrilled. First thing she does is tell Bobbie, who is not happy that Tony is not following procedure. Carly sees Jason and speaks to him, and just then Robin comes up looking for Alan. Carly pages Alan for her, and while Robin is seeing him, Carly talks to Jason. "Why does Robin always come first?" That's the way it is, Jason answers. "So you sleep with me, and she gets the roses? Put us together you have one whole girlfriend." "What's the problem? We have what we have and YOU picked it." He then says if the question is, does he like Carly, yes he does. Carly: "What is it about me? I mean, I could be walking down the street with Robin or just about anybody and we both fainted at the same time... people would drive over my limp body to bring her smelling salts." "Because," Jason responds, "You wouldn't faint. You'd be faking." Carly mentions there's one man who really likes her. Bobbie interrupts to give Carly a message for Tony. She's about to go harass Laura, so she'll be late to dinner. Robin's tests are good and we get the Public Service Information about how there's so much more information about HIV just even in the last year. Jason is pleased that his Dad is good for something. He hugs Robin, while Carly watches. Later, Carly "just misses" Tony, so he shows up at the Outback at the agreed-upon time. She invents a porno photographer who will meet her to give her enough money to continue with the Nurses' Program. Tony "talks her out of it." They are laughing together when Bobbie comes in and gives her the ol' fish-eye. Carly explains how she'd missed Tony at the hospital and came to deliver the message. "You could have called!" Bobbie huffs. [I'm loving this. Bobbie has paid no consequences for her affair with Damian, for trying to kill him, for her affair with Alan... it's about time karma caught up with her.] WE'RE SPENCERS, AND WE'RE SPECIAL, PART 1. Bobbie and Tony look at Lulu. Tony wonders about the guard, but Bobbie can't tell him what's up, it's not her secret. She asks Tony if Carly ever gets on his nerves, she's always weaseling in everywhere. She's always there, tuggin on your sleeve, asking for something. [Attention, would be my guess.] Bobbie and Tony make plans for dinner. Laura and the Brat are at breakfast. [Yes, he's especially obnoxious now, yes it's Luke's doing as well as puberty, but Laura laid the groundwork for this back when they first came to town and Cute Little Lucky ate under the table and Bobbie objected. Laura let Lucky make the decisions then. Remember the pet spider? Laura never said "wait a minute, young man, *I*'m the grownup here."] He won't go to the hospital, what if Dad calls? Where has he gone, anyway? It's all Laura's fault. Why did she have sex with the Cassadine? Laura asks if he'd rather she were dead? The phone rings. It's Bobbie, telling Laura that Lulu's can go home tomorrow. She hears that Laura is close to tears, and wonders where Luke is, anyway. Then, hearing he's out of town, she drops everything and races over to "help." [Think she'd have dashed off to help if it were TONY? Heck, no! But this is her precious Spencer brother.] Lucky sulks off to his room. Bobbie-the-Comforter is in full mode again, but it keeps slipping into Bobbie-the-Jealous-B-word. Laura says how hard it is to tell the most gruesome secret of your life and then have to comfort the person you told, keeping them from spinning off in all directions. Bobbie: "Maybe sympathy was just too much to expect." Laura: "Well, it wasn't too much for YOU to expect, when Luke was off looking for your daughter." Bobbie: "Oh, c'mon, Laura, that was something I was doing for YOU, and for Luke, and for your little girl, not that I was given a whole lot of choice, mind you." [Updater's mouth falls open, along with Laura's.] L: "Oh. So you know yow it feels. OK, fine, look. When YOU go all the way [Been there, done that!], and you come clean with YOUR husband, THEN you stand in judgement of me!" B: "Oh, c'mon, what is this, an honesty contest? I mean, how do you think _I_ felt when I was standing there bleeding while you, and Luke, and Sonny Corinthos and his sidekick were picking over my inglorious past? My big mistake about the age of 16. Discussing my daughter like she was some blood bank. I mean, WOULD it have killed you to say 'I know how much you miss her because I've been there as well?'" L: "I couldn't ... do all of you just not believe me?" Bobbie, rolling her eyes: [Bobbie-slappers?] "Oh, *of course*, Laura. I mean, you had a perfectly good reason for keeping your secret. I don't, I'm just a bad person." Laura, asking the question I'd been wondering for a while: "Why did you come over here, Bobbie?" Bobbie: "Because, Once Again, my brother is off risking his neck on YOUR account. Not that it's your fault, mind you, it never is. But does he at least have a clear picture of what he could be up against?" Laura tells her about Stefan. Bobbie wants to know why Laura didn't tell Luke. Bobbie reiterates how dangerous the Cassadines are [later developments lead me to think this may be the big appeal to Bobbie, who can't stand the safe life, and this conversation is very ironic.] Lucky overhears this, and Laura wondering "if my children will be next." Laura asks Bobbie if, in the same situation, she could hope never to hear from her daughter again? She finally gets rid of her sister-in-law, and calls Lucky, but he doesn't answer. In the final scene of the day, with the buildup of how dangerous the Cassadines are, we see Lulu being taken from her crib: the t-shirt could be anyone's, but the childish hands lead one to the belief that it's Lucky doing the taking. WE'RE SPENCERS AND WE'RE SPECIAL, PART 2 Luke knocks out a guard, gets into the Cassadine estate. [Why did Nikolas complain about the gothic Windemere, if he grew up in this creepy twilight place?] He gets into Helena's room, and she's on a respirator. "Darling!" she says, "What took you so long?" "Forgive me if I don't get up." Luke wants to know if she'd die a painful death if he threw the respirator out the window. He wants to know why she sent Nikolas and she tells him this is all Stefan's project. In fact, Stefan is also keeping her prisoner. Luke is stunned to hear about Stefan, and Helena puts her finger on it: "Poor Luke. Armed for battle and no one left to fight." In a pervertedly sexy scene, she has him lie down by her "and we'll be friends till morning." "Tell me where Stefan is or I'll make him an orphan before dawn." Luke turns off her respirator but she still won't tell, he has to guess. Suddenly [mighod, it took him long enough!] he realizes Stefan is in Port Charles, where he, Luke, the idiot, had left his family. He looks thunderstruck.
