Subject: GH: Update for Fri 07/12/96 Sent: 7/15/96 2:06 PM From: John R. Andrews , jandrews@uic.edu The General Hospital Update for Friday, July 12, 1996 Written By: kathy@gundog.lbl.gov (Kathy Ellington) John Beradino News: =================== This Thursday ABC's General Hospital will include a memorial service for the character of Dr. Steve Hardy and John Beradino who brought the actor to life. Beradino appeared on the very first broadcast of General Hospital on April 1, 1963. He died of cancer on May 19 and was last seen on the serial on April 23. Weekly Update from the Contra Costa County "Times" (Calif) Newspaper: ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- Laura was stunned to see Stefan Cassadine, the younger brother of Stavros, whom she once married after he lied and told her Luke was dead. Stefan, who wants revenge against the Spencers for Stavros' death, saw that Lesley Lu got a bone marrow transplant. Laura was suspicious of his reason for helping her baby. While looking for Bobbie's daughter, Luke learned that the girl (named Caroline Benson) is estranged from her adoptive mother. The private eye (Peyser) Bobbie hired to find her daughter tried to blackmail Carly by threatening to reveal she IS Caroline. When Alan moved out Monica found solace in the arms of Dr Pierce Dorman. A.J. accepted Justus' seat on the city council and nixed letting Edward control him (even though Edward "fixed" the deal). Mac told Felicia that Tom may be the person harrassing/stalking her now. And now the Friday update... Those incredibly wacky Quartermaines! Alan Walks Out and Monica Pages Dr. Dorman ========================================================================= In the Quartermaine library, Alan and Monica share a bicker over breakfast. She's angry that he hasn't confided in her about his imminent hand surgery. Monica beefs at him about not telling her about the surgery; he reminds her that when she decided to have breast reconstructive surgery she didn't tell anybody about it. Then Monica claims she's not trying to pick a fight but only trying to communicate. Alan suggests they live apart for a while until they can find a way out of their current "cycle of destruction" as he calls it. Monica is stunned. She goes to GH rather than stay in the house but only succeeds in snapping at Bobbie who bubbles around about Alan trying to find the identify of the bone marrow donor. Dorman sees the little drama and whisks the tearful heart surgeon off for a little drinkie at the Port Chuck Hotel. She cries on his shoulder and blabs about Alan. Dorman claims he has the cure for her blues; he goes to the desk clerk and books a hotel room. He returns with a prescription pad, scribbles something down and puts the paper into his fly...it reads "Take 10 inches every hour". He hands her a room key and says he'll be upstairs, waiting...waiting with the costume, the rubber sheet and the bottle of Wesson oil. Shortly after he gets into the elevator, Monica makes a decision and picks up the room key. She presses the button and gets onto the elevator. Will she or won't she?? If she goes through with it there will be tears, recriminations, possible scandal, a wrecked marriage...still, there's that "Elvis thing" Dorman does with his lip! And what about the Wesson oil and cholesterol? And How About the Spencer Family??? ========================================================================= At GH, Lesley Lu undergoes the bone marrow transplant. Simone explains the procedure to Luke/Laura/Lucky. Bobbie wonders if the donor is her long lost daughter; Laura looks guilty. Later on, Laura tries to deflect Bobbie as she starts anew to obsess about finding her daughter who, she is convinced, IS the marrow donor. Near the nurse's station in the lobby, Luke and Bobbie discuss his search for the adopted daughter with Carly eavesdropping like mad. After Luke leaves, Carly admits to listening in. Bobbie tells her how difficult it was to make the decision to give up her baby; she also tells Carly not to mention anything about the daughter to anyone...especially not to Tone Loc. Bobbie runs into Alan and he blurts out the news that he has moved out of the house. They run a check on the donor and find out that all information is being kept confidential, including age and sex [gee, just like dating!]. In Lesley Lu's room, Luke overhears a couple of hospital technicians talking about the bone marrow match. He is troubled when they say the match looks perfect enough to be a sibling. Laura says she is going home to take a shower and rest; in reality she meets Stefan on Windemere Island. She asks what the price is for Lesley Lu's bone marrow. He tells her to go home and enjoy her family. Brenda/Jax/Sonny -- a pain in the...hip?? ========================================================================= In the PC Hotel lobby, Sonny phones Robin; he's still looking for Jason. Brenda walks in and they talk briefly. Jax sees them and zooms in..."Is there a problem?" he asks. Sonny glares at him. Brenda explains that Sonny is looking for Jason; Sonny exits. Jax is a little concerned when he notes Brenda taking pain killers for some pain she is feeling in her hip. From the car accident, she explains. She also nixes lunch with her hunk of hubby. Seems she's got to do a bikini shoot and can't afford the extra poundage some mineral water and lettuce leaves would give her. He nods understandingly [this man IS from Mars!]. Later on in the day, Brenda walks into Kelly's to meet Jax for dinner. Sonny is there, still looking for Jason. They talk for a while and he starts to leave. She grips the table, caught in a dizzy spell, and almost faints. Sonny catches her; Jax, peering through the doorway, catches the scene and is NOT pleased. Sonny helps Brenda into a chair and explains to Jax that Brenda almost fainted. Sonny exits. Brenda reassures Jax that her condition is due to an empty stomach and some painkillers and not the stupid plot device the writers insist on cramming down the throats of the viewers. end end send comments, questions, and flames to kathy@gundog.lbl.gov end end
