From: Pat Herman pat@aimnet.com Subject: GH: Update, Wednesday, June 12, 1996 Date: Mon, 24 Jun 1996 20:47:47 -0700 General Hospital Update Wednesday, June 12, 1996 Today's Featured Stories * TA, as in Teaching Assistant * For the Good of the Cause * Fathers and Sons Dealing with Death * Meet Brenda Barrett Jacks, My Wife * TA, as in Teaching Assistant * Kevin and Lucy are at Kelly's where Lucy is going on and on about Katherine's involvement in the Nurse's Ball. Kevin tells her that their war is tiresome on both him and Mac. He says it would be nice to be friends with another couple and have someone to go out with. Lucy asks "you mean to like a dinner and a movie." "Exactly," Kevin replies. The thought of dinner and a movie with Katherine is revolting to Lucy. "With Katherine Bell?", says Lucy. "Doc I want you to hold on to that little dream of yours, bub." "Don't call me bub; you know I hate that," replies Kevin. Lucy apologies. She tells him that they do have friends, specifically Luke and Laura. Kevin wonders how Luke and Laura could have slipped his mind. "Anyway, that's beside the point," he continues. He just thinks it would be easier on everyone concerned if Lucy and Katherine could learn to rise above their differences. Lucy says she'll try, which Kevin doesn't believe, but she promises she will try. Lucy asks Kevin what his plans are for the day. He tells her that he is going to be interviewing potential TAs for his summer class. Lucy can't believe what she just heard. "Excuse me," she says. Kevin repeats, "I said, I'm interviewing potential TAs for my summer class." Lucy tells him that "that is probably the most sexist remark that I've ever heard come out of your lips." Kevin is totally confused. Lucy continues, "You are interviewing T & A for summer classes. I'm shocked that you'd even be interested, but to just come right out and admit it like that." "T A, Lucy, as in Teaching Assistant," says Kevin. A young blond sitting at the counter is now watching Kevin and Lucy. "Oh, well there you go. Doesn't that make a big, big difference," says Lucy now understanding what Kevin had said. Kevin tells her that he's planning to have a leisurely breakfast and get some paperwork done. He's scheduled the interviews to occur at Kelly's. Lucy now notices that Katherine is knocking on the window and waving at her to come outside. Lucy starts criticizing Katherine, when Kevin reminds her of her promise. Lucy says she lied. Kevin tells her to do it for the good of the cause. Lucy reluctantly gets up to go see Katherine. "Good luck with your little PA," Lucy says. "TA," Kevin replies. "TA," Lucy repeats. "Ah, that spells Ta. TA," she says and goes out to see Katherine. All three potential TA candidates show up at Kelly's to interview with Kevin. Each one is bizarre in his/her own way and Kevin has just about lost hope of finding a reasonable candidate. The blonde from the counter comes over to Kevin. She tells him her name is Gina Williams and she tells him she's looking for a job and would like to interview for the position. She tells him she's a Psych major at PCU and needs to get a job to save up some money for rent. Kevin says why not. Kevin asks Gina why she decided on psychology. Gina tells him she wanted to get a better insight into her own personality. She tells him she didn't like what she had become and had a revelation when her brother died. She tells him what she really wants in to have just 5 more minutes with Stone. Kevin tells Gina about his relationship with Stone. He tells her that he was aware of the situation between her and Stone. She tells him that she was a horrible person back then, and she's changed so much since then. Kevin reassures her that Stone didn't hate her and that he understood why she acted the way that she did. Gina thinks that she can forget about the job now that Kevin knows what a horrible person she was. Kevin says he believes her when she says that she's changed. If she still wants the job, it's hers. * For the Good of the Cause * Lucy and Katherine sit down at a table outside Kelly's. Lucy suggests that they handle their discussion in a civilized manner. Katherine agrees to try. The first topic of discussion is the color scheme. Lucy chose black and white. Katherine veto's the idea saying no repeats. She wants lots and lots of color. Katherine moves on to the menu. Katherine wants roast duck, which Lucy says is unacceptable for obvious reasons (i.e. Sigmund). Lucy wants seafood. She won't serve duck or any other little animal. The attempted civilized discussion comes to an end here. Katherine emphatically says that there will be two dishes - one fowl and one beef. She tells Lucy that she can't force her principles on anybody else. Katherine goes inside Kelly's for a couple of minutes. Lucy looks in her portfolio. A messenger comes by and assumes Lucy is Katherine. He tells her he has the remaining designs for her approval. "No, no, no," says Lucy looking at the designs for Katherine's gown, "that will never do." The messenger tells her she can change whatever she wants, just put her initials. Lucy scribbles changes on the designs, gives them back to the messenger. As the messenger leaves, Katherine comes out of Kelly's. She asks Lucy if he took her things. Lucy tells her that he did. Lucy and Katherine continue the menu discussion. Katherine attempts to compromise and says pheasant instead of duck. Much to Katherine's surprise, Lucy agrees with Katherine's suggestions. * Fathers and Sons Dealing with Death * Sonny, looking absolutely terrible, is sitting in the Penthouse thinking about Lily when Mike shows up. Mike questions Sonny about his security since his door was unlocked. Mike puts a plate of scrambled eggs in front of Sonny and tells him to eat. Sonny says he's not hungry and moves the plate away. Mike notices all of the empty liquor bottles. He asks if this is the only room Sonny has been living in. Sonny tells Mike he can't go upstairs because all of Lily's things are there. Mike didn't realize that and offers to pack up her belongings and get it out of the apartment. Sonny tells him is he touches one thing, he'll kill him. The phone rings, but he doesn't answer. The answering machine picks up it's Lily's voice on the greeting. Lois is on the other end and leaves a message for Sonny. She tells him to call her if he needs anything or just wants to talk. Mike tells him that getting rid of some of Lily's belongings might be a first step. He asks Sonny to let him help. Sonny just shrugs, but doesn't say no. Mike heads upstairs. Mike comes down with some boxes. He says he'll take everything to Goodwill unless he wants to get a storage bin. Sonny tells him he already got a storage place. Sonny tells Mike about when Adela died. Sonny had to pack everything up and take care of everything. He tells Mike that if he had shown up there would have been nothing for him to do, but he didn't show up. Mike attempts to provoke Sonny into getting mad by making him tell Mike about Adela's death. Sonny gets up and attempts to walk away but Mike won't let him. Mike wants Sonny to release all of his anger so he won't keep turning it in on himself. Mike volunteers to be his punching bag. Sonny is finally provoked enough and hauls off and decks Mike. He's on top of Mike and about to punch him again when he gets up and tells Mike to get out. Mike says he can hardly breath and Sonny says to sit down and goes to get him some ice. Mike and Sonny sit down and Sonny asks how Mike found about Adela. Mike tells him the story. He was in a bar, drinking scotch with two beautiful ladies. His friend came into the bar and Mike could just tell by his look that his wife was dead. Sonny wonders why he didn't come home. Mike says he thought about it a lot that night. He finally drank himself into a stupor. He tells Sonny that he was with Lily right up until the last minute and that's something he can keep with him. Mike leaves. Mike goes to Jakes and downs some 20 year old scotch. Meanwhile Sonny sits at the piano for awhile. The phone rings again, and again it's Lois. She asks him to call her when he gets the message. Sonny goes over to the answering machine and plays the tape with Lily's voice over and over again. Then he goes upstairs. * Meet Brenda Barrett Jacks, My Wife * At the Jacks' estate in Alaska, there's a knock on the door. Lady Jane opens the door to find Jax and Brenda. Jane is very happy to see him. She tells him that his father and her didn't know what to think when he disappeared. "That's Jerry's MO, not yours," Jane tells him. She goes on to say that they did have a side wager going as to his whereabouts. Jane thought he was making a corporate deal on Wall Street, while his father thought he was dodging terrorists in the Middle East. "Well you both lose," Jax tells her. "I was putting in the groundwork for something much more meaningful," he continues. "Do tell," replies Jane. "It took me a long time to persuade this beautiful woman to become my wife," Jax says. "Lady Jane, I want you to meet Brenda Barrett Jacks, my new bride." Brenda tells Jane she's been looking forward to meeting you. Jane suddenly bursts into laughter and tells Jax he really had her going for a minute. Brenda doesn't understand what's going on. Jane tells her that their family is full of practical jokers and tells her a story about Jerry pretending to have married a harem. Jax tells her it's no joke. Jane still doesn't believe it and says that he'd never get married without his family in attendance. Jane calls Papa Jacks down to "see the surprise Jax brought us." Papa Jacks comes downstairs and enthusiastically welcomes Jax home. Once again Jax introduces Brenda as his wife. Papa takes a good look at her and then welcomes her to the family, picks her up, and carries her across the room. Papa Jax takes Brenda upstairs to get her settled in. Jax tells Jane how much she and Brenda are alike. Jax can't understand why Jane is not being her hospitable self. Jane tells him she wasn't prepared to be left out of his wedding. Jax tries to explain why he married Brenda. He says that Brenda was like a shooting star and he had to reach out and grab her before she passed him by. He tells her that he loves Brenda and can't she just be happy for him. Papa Jacks opens a bottle of champagne and makes a toast to Brenda. After living with Jerry and Jax all these years, she's like a breath of spring, he toasts. Jax them makes a toast to the two most important ladies in his life, his mom and his wife. Papa tells Jane it's her turn next. Her toasts is about marriage - how tough it is and how much you have to work at it, but if you've found the right partner, there's nothing more rewarding in your life. Brenda then asks if she can say a few words. She tells them she's always wanted a family. She says that she does have a family, but they're just scattered around. She always pictured herself ending up in a family that was really close and liked being together. She tells them that being with them means a lot to her. Brenda and Jax play pinball. Papa then comes over and wants to play with Brenda. Jax goes over to sit with Jane. He tells her that everything is fine, he's in love with her. Jane asks the question of the day. "That's plain to see," she says, "the question is does she love you or are you running for all your worth straight to a broken heart?" THE END -------- Pat, other 1/2 of the Wednesday Update Team
