From: CUCFAN CGLASS@VUNET.VINU.EDU Subject: GH: Update for Mon. June 10, 1996 Date: 11 Jun 1996 14:45:28 -0400 "THERE IS A GOD, EDWARD. THAT'S THE PROBLEM." (Justus) Justus is sitting in the courtroom, where he has evidently spent the night. Edward comes in to try to force some good old Quartermaine common sense into the lad, and Justus just won't hear of it. Edward says that Damian deserved to die, and they get in a philosophical discussion about whether or not the corruption of Justus' soul by this lie has meant that Damian has won the game after all. "A LITTLE LESS CAFFEINE AND A LITTLE LESS FANTASY." (Ruby) Bobbie and Lucy are at Kelly's, and Lucy's in a shiny ducky yellow dress. I don't believe there is a color in existence that Lucy cannot wear. They discuss the nurse's ball, and Lucy presses her for a commitment on what the Jones family act will be performing, and Bobbie says they've decided to do "Together Wherever We Go." Later on, Bobbie comes in and Carly is taking money out of the cash register. Carly explains that Ruby is such a generous woman and that she's leaving an IOU. After she leaves, Bobbie tells Ruby that she's nice to help Carly and give her a loan, and Ruby knows nothing about it. Carly overhears. Meanwhile, Lucy is outside selling T-shirts and raffle tickets for the Nurse's Ball, and Ruby and Bobbie discuss the possibility of Laura going to prison and what Luke will do if she is found guilty. As voices rise outside, they go out to see what is going on, and it's Kath & Lucy at it again, in a royal snit fit. While they are out, Carly sneaks an IOU into the cash register. Ruby agrees to let Lucy sell her t-shirts if she and Katherine can refrain from making a disturbance, and when she goes back inside, she finds the IOU. "But next time, you ASK," she growls at Carly. Youch. Go Ruby. Nice to see the Spencer Sh*t Detector still works, at least for Ruby & Luke. "YOU CAN"T GRAB UP TWO KIDS AND A BIG DUMB DOG AND OUTRUN A MURDER CONVICTION" (Laura) "SURE WE CAN!" (Luke) Luke and Laura are sitting on the couch, and Luke has tried to keep the paper from her, but Foster brings it in. She sees it, gets depressed, and he tries to cheer her up. He has all the paperwork ready, the big carpetbag is all packed and ready to go. Besides, there's this videotape that might be evidence. The phone rings, and it's the lab-he's getting an image. "I PROMISED HER I'D SHOOT YOU SOME QUESTIONS" (Luke). Luke goes to the courthouse to see Justus, asking him what happens if he comes up with hard evidence after the verdict? Justus says there is a six week window between verdict and sentencing, and it will be Dara's call if it exonerates Laura or not, and the charges could be totally dismissed. Luke asks twitchily if they can get her out on bail in the meantime. Justus says not with a murder two, and by the way WHAT evidence. Luke's blood pressure visibly rises and he is out the door. "IT'S NOT THAT I DON'T TRUST YOU, EDWARD. IT'S THAT I TRUST MY HUSBAND MORE." (Laura). Edward stops by on one of his sympathy visits, and Laura is understandably skeptical. They joke about her being a receptionist, and he makes a bad booboo saying that "one smile and I'd let you get away with..." "Murder..." she finishes. She doesn't buy his act and asks him what he wants, which turns out to see Luke, they've had a misunderstanding. "WE HOPE FOR THE BEST AND WE PLAN FOR THE WORST" (Bobbie). Bobbie comes over as Laura is packing up some things to take with her to prison. They bond and talk about how Lesley called Bobbie "Aunt Barbara Jean." Bobbie continuously says inappropriate things such as "you had to be there" and that she will stand in for Laura and be there for Lesley Lu, and Laura thanks her for it, cries and says she needed to hear it, so maybe it's not exactly inappropriate but just makes ME uncomfortable. "HAVE YOU EVER TRIED DECEPTION?" (Lucy, to Carly) Lucy is being wonderfully pushy, selling t-shirts and tickets to complete strangers as they pass by, and Katherine watches. Carly comes outside and gets sucked into their debate over what type of customers prefer Deception. Carly is bewildered by their ongoing snit fit and by being called "Connie" by Lucy (yeah, the last Connie on this show ended up being strangled by Ryan, I'd be worried too). Lucy says to Katherine "You are as elite as that dirty money you inherited from Damian Smith," and Carly's ears perk up at the sound of the M word. "SHE'LL ALWAYS KNOW YOUR INNOCENCE AND SHE'LL SEE YOUR COURAGE" (Bobbie) Well, that one was pretty good, I think. They discuss Luke being a father and Lucky's need for rules, and Lesley's need for a female role model, since she has so many male ones (who? shudder). Laura cries and thanks Bobbie for being there, and they hug. "THAT'S RIGHT, LITTLE SISTER. YOU'RE WORKING FOR ME." (Katherine) Lucy is jabbering into a cell phone, talking to the caterer. The caterer refuses to do anything without final approval, which baffles her. Katherine smirks and gloats about the caviar incident, which is brought up, and puts on more makeup. I'm trying to be objective, but I hate this woman--she has NO remorse for that. Lucy calls the florist and they also refuse to do anything without a signature. Lucy gripes and Kath gloats. Katherine can't resist and gives her a few hints--the anonymous underwriter would have as much money as Damian Smith, but would be more modest (BWAHAHA) and would know that real class involves restraint (HEHE). Lucy figures it out, and Katherine gloats with the line I started this section with. "I'M USED TO MISUNDERSTANDINGS" Carly is sitting, looking depressed, and Bobbie comes over to see what's wrong, asks if it is still about the IOU. Carly says no, she's used to it, because she's always the outsider. Bobbie says she hopes that Carly doesn't feel like an outsider because they love her, she's part of the Jones family, blah blah blah. Carly seems to mist up for real, takes Bobbie's hand and says she has just needed to hear that for a long time." A side note: I think they are doing a great job with Carly and Bobbie. As I was watching this today, I was thinking, why didn't you just show up and TELL Bobbie you were her daughter? Bobbie would have given her anything and helped her do anything, and now there are all these lies between them. And then I realized, that is EXACTLY what Bobbie does. Why hasn't Bobbie just TOLD Tony about looking for Carly, and about needing money to do it? Because...it's the way they are, mother and daughter, and I think they're writing this dead on. "MOMMY MAY HAVE TO GO AWAY." (Laura). Laura sits with an absolutely lovely Lesley Lu, on the couch, and talks to her, as Lesley looks solemnly back at her and seems to understand perfectly. She cries and holds her, telling her that "there is something like a little line that goes through the air and that connects Mommy to the baby" WHERE IS LUCKY??? They made some inane excuse that he was out fishing. On the day that the jury verdict might come in?? When Luke doesn't really know what happened with the car bomb and it may have been in retaliation for Harper for all he knows? "YEAH, THAT'S HIM." (Luke) Well, not exactly. Luke has gone to pester David, the video man. He is getting a few images--he has Ward House very plainly, and they can see someone coming out. Luke says "Yeah, that's him" and asks if it can be cleaned up. It is plainly Justus, but I can't tell if Luke really knows or not. He tells David to get in closer to that face and try to bring up a time code or a date, because without it, there is no way to tie it to the date of the fire. He sits back to light a cigar and an idea flashes--there might be fire in the windows (there is, I saw it earlier). David asks if he wants him to back up to the windows or work on the face some more. Luke chooses to stay with the face. FGC Brenda's Warm Heart, FGC Mike-Keeper of the Comfy Black Couch. MHGC Katherine-Keeper of the Hateful Looks. CEO MHGC Mac-Keeper of the Neglected Niece.
