Subject: Sent: 6/11/96 11:21 AM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com THURSDAY JUNE 6 QUARTERMAINIA A.J. and Nasty Ned discuss why Edward is spending so much time at the courthouse. He's being "a comfort" [Yeah, right!] to Justus. A.J. theorizes that he may be grooming Justus to become the ELQ counsellor. This bothers Ned. "As CEO, *I* do the hiring." Alan comes in here, and says that would be news to Edward. Monica sees A.J. looking at PCU's catalog and wants to know if he's going to start school again, and A.J. informs her that he's been attending classes for three months. Both Alan and Ned jump all over A.J., with Monica trying to help. Keesha comes in and gets A.J.'s authorization for the campaign, and of course Alan and Ned go ballistic. Once everyone but Alan has left, Monica comes back into the room and asks Alan "What happened to your vaudeville partner? Run out of jokes?" and they set to, and it turns out to be mostly about Jason. We find out Alan is impotent in bed again. Later, Ned is in the sitting room as Lila comes in. She asks him "why so pensive?" [Hahaha! It's the Word of the Week!] He was trying to protect the family but has had no luck. She says in many ways he has been their anchor. [Actually, the only anchor is Lila, but never mind.] They discuss what fatherhood will mean. All of a sudden, Ned muses, he's the older generation. Lila figures that just maybe he has a few more good years left. She thinks he's jealous of Edward's attention being paid to Justus. A.J. and Keesha talk. He's not ready to leave the family (I seem to recall he left readily enough when he was dating Nikki!) He's depending on Keesha's goodwill. They leave for her place (Kelly's? wait'll Carly gets a good look at him!) after A.J., 45 days sober, has a looooong last lingering look at the bar. THE O.J., OOPS I MEAN LAURA, TRIALMANIA Dara asks Laura if she's been involved in other killings. Laura, on Justus's advice, answers briefly, and then Justus redirects and gets the extenuating circumstances on the cases. "Well, you see, Your Honor, I'm in a soap opera, and I am required to kill one person every three years or my contract won't be renewed." This is too much for Dara, who stands up and calls Laura a vicious killer, till the judge tells her "Shame on You." Later Justus repeats those words. The defense rests, Edward hovers while Justus talks to Luke and Laura and follows them out into the screaming mob of obnoxious reporters, whom Justus threatens to sue, but I couldn't hear why. Later, at the courthouse, Justus is working on his closing argument and Edward comes in to "encourage" him. Justus feels MaryMae is telling him to confess, and Edward pishtushes that as only being his conscience. (Which, in Edward's case, is a bit dicy anyway, but in Justus' case, is so far pretty sound.) "Don't listen to that!" FILLYMANIA Felicia asks the looky-loos to leave, and they finally do after Bobbie comes in. Bobbie is happy to see Maria. Felicia sees a black rose on the mantel, and tells Maria about the stalking. Maria decides to take the children away, while Tom stays to "protect" Felicia. They, Tom and Felicia, kiss a bit, then Tom goes out to check the outside, watching Felicia brooding over the black rose.
