Subject: GH: Update for Fri 05/31/96 Sent: 6/3/96 2:40 PM From: John Andrews, jandrews@uic.edu The General Hospital Update for Friday, May 31, 1996 Written By: kathy@gundog.lbl.gov (Kathy Ellington) ================================================================= Ned and Lois celebrated their first anniversary over breakfast. Edward roared in and told Ned to cut out the romantic crap and get his butt into the office; he needs to convene an important meeting at ELQ. Wrong, says Ned and went on to tell Edward that, thanks to Ned, everything at ELQ is hunky-dunky. If Edward had bothered to show up at the office the last few weeks, instead of hanging out at Laura's trial, he would know what's going on at the office. Justus and Dara continued to mix it up at Laura's trial. Katherine and Mac were both called. After court was adjourned for the day, Edward buttonholed Justus in the hallway outside and the two of them had an intense conversation; Luke, who was keeping his eye on them, glared mightily but they didn't notice him. Sonny and LeLee reached a deeper level of understanding after they talked about their marriage and the baby, etc. LeLee was happy. She phoned Pa Rivera and told him she had some news she must deliver in person. She said she would fly into Puerto Rico that night then they rang off over a bad connection. Lily told Sonny that she called Pa and that she would fly off tonight to tell him the good news. Then she caught herself and said maybe they should hold off on any happy announcements about the baby until Sonny figured out in which direction his weathervane would be pointing. He assured her that she was the only Pocahontas his war club would every point to in the future. Then he proposed a night on the town where they would tell everyone about their blessed event. The next day the whole "family" would fly to Puerto Rico and drop the good news on Papa. Lily happily agreed. Brenda and Jax awoke in her bed. He repeated his offer of marriage and told her he was leaving Port Chuckles that day at 3pm...with or without her [the old ultimatum, huh Jax?]. He told her she'd be nuts to pass up a dimpled-chin, blonde, wavy-haired, well-hung Adonis gazillionaire like himself [I agree!!] and why not give herself a break and stop running after Sonny like some pathetic little match girl? He also said that he assumed Sonny was now out of the picture since last night they went through all 27 chapters [plus the appendices] of the Kama Sutra so what's stopping her now? "Aren't you tired of being sad?" he asked her gently. She replied that she was, indeed, tired of being sad. Then he told her that he was the only man who could ever make her happy...that is IF Brenda wanted to be happy! Later in the day a worried Jax was at the Port Chuck airport, getting ready to leave. Brenda finally showed up; they hugged and kissed. That evening, the courtroom crowd gathered at Luke's Club. Mike passed out bottles of champagne to every table and, when people inquired where it came from, he was mysterious. A beaming Sonny and Lilly finally got everyone's attention and he announced that his "beautiful wife" was pregnant. He said they were going to make Mike a grandfather [good to see Sonny and Mike mending the fences]. Congratulations from everyone except that for a fleeting moment, Lois and Robin both had sick looks on their faces. They knew what an impact the announcement would make on Brenda [little did they know she was moments away from being Mrs. Jax]. Lois did some fence-mending with LeLee and everyone was rollicking around having a good old time. Meanwhile, Brenda and Jax had arrived in the Mediterranean and were ensconced on Jax's yacht, minister standing by. She changed into a white satin wedding dress he had bought for her [what beautiful young people they are!]. Back in Port Chuck, outside Luke's Club, LeLee went to get Sonny's car. She didn't want to let a tipsy Sonny drive them home. Luke went with her. Sonny and Mike talked and when Luke joined them again the three of them goofed around, doing guy stuff. We see shots of Jax and Brenda getting married, interspersed with LeLee reaching the car. Brenda looks ecstatically happy; LeLee glows with joy. Mike, Luke, and Sonny are still joking around and Sonny looks at Lilly with real love in his eyes. The newleyweds raise champagne flutes to toast each other. Lily gets into the car and inserts the key into the ignition. Half a world away, Brenda and Jax clink their glasses together sweetly. In Port Charles there's a tremendous explosion; Sonny staggers backward from the force of the blast and we see red flames reflected off his white shirt. He faces the camera and screams "NOOOOO!" send comments, questions, and flames to kathy@gundog.lbl.gov
