General Hospital Update
Wednesday, May 29, 1996

Bobbie and Tony are at the brownstone, which is still airing out from
the toxic flowers. The phone rings and Tony answers. He tell the
person on the other end that they must have the wrong number since his
wife wouldn't have contacted an adoption agency. Bobbie has Tony give
her the phone. The person on the other end tells her that there has
been no news on locating her daughter. Bobbie doesn't say much and
quickly gets off the phone. Tony inquires what the call was about, and
Bobbie covers saying that it was about Diane's (the girl who gave her
baby up for adoption about a month ago) baby. She says that Diane asked
her to make sure everything was going all right with the baby and that's
what the phone call was about.

Lucy arrives at the hospital to talk to Amy about being her personal
dresser at the Nurse's Ball again this year. Amy reminds her that she's
walked out on Lucy in the middle of the ball for the past 2 years. Lucy
says, "This year will be different. It will be fun." Amy says no, but
suggests Carly, who has just come out of the elevator. Amy calls Carly
over and introduces her to Lucy. Amy goes on and on about Carly. She
tells Lucy, "Carly has proven there's not enough she can do around this
place." She tells Carly, "the dresser is a super important job" and
says Lucy and Carly are a perfect match. Lucy explains the duties of
the dresser to Carly and, of course, Carly accepts the job.

Alan and Audrey are at the Nurse's Station. Alan asks if Mercy Hospital
has contracted with an HMO. Audrey says that they have and indicates
that it could be a disaster for GH.

At the docks, Sonny and Brenda discuss their future. Sonny wants to
make sure Brenda is ready for what they'll be up against. Brenda tells
him the only thing that matters is that they're together. Sonny has
taken care of all the details, except for telling Lily. At the
penthouse, Lily has set the table with candles and prepares to tell
Sonny her news.

Felicia shows up at the hospital and tells Audrey about the problem with
the flowers at the brownstone.

In the lounge, Monica tells Alan that she got a group together to
discuss the HMO situation. They are meeting shortly and she asks Alan
to come. Monica leaves and Kevin arrives. He apologizes to Alan for
his outburst the other day.

Sonny arrives home. Lily says she has something to tell him, but seeing
the look on his face, says "maybe you should go first." He says he can
wait.  Lily tells him she's pregnant.  She tells him she didn't plan it;
she "would never do that to him." She says she thinks it happened when
they were in Canada. Sonny doesn't say much, and Lily says they should
just let the news sink in and discuss it later. She goes upstairs, and
Sonny takes off.

Brenda shows up at Kelly's and waits for Lois. They're going to have
tea.

Alan accepts Kevin's apology. He tells him that both he and Steve are
concerned about Kevin's workload and the toll the twin study is taking
on him. Lucy arrives and agrees that "her Doc" needs to get some time
away from the hospital and have some fun. Alan leaves and Audrey joins
them in the lounge. She invites them to dinner at Luke's with her,
Steve, Tom, and Felicia. They're somewhat stunned by the invitation.
They keep looking at each other and are not sure what to say. Kevin
hesitantly says, "that would be good." Lucy adds, "fun, it would be
fun." Audrey says she wants to do some fence mending between Tom and
Steve and also wants to get to know Felicia better. The dinner would
also give Steve, Tom, and Kevin the opportunity to go over budget cuts
and restructuring the Psychiatric department. "Nothing to be alarmed
about," she says, but Kevin is clearly alarmed. "How's tonight?" she
asks.

At the Nurse's Station, Monica gives Dr. Dorman a box full of all the
gifts he gave her. She then asks him to come to the HMO meeting and
give his opinions on the subject. Dorman leaves and Alan arrives. Alan
comments that the watch she got from her secret admirer would look good
with her outfit. She tells him that she gave away all the gifts "you
didn't give me."

Bobbie tells Carly that a slot just opened in the nursing program.
Audrey asks Carly if she's still interested. An excited Carly says
there's nothing she'd rather do. Audrey tells her she hasn't been
accepted yet; there is competition. Audrey asks if Carly has a copy of
her high school transcript. Carly says no, but she could call and get
it. Bobbie tells them she already called Carly's high school and they
are electronically sending the transcript. This does not appear to be
good news to Carly.

Audrey is on the phone with Steve telling him about the dinner she
planned. The discussion turns to Tom, and she goes off on him about how
he's treated Tom and his expectations of Tom. Felicia comes back to the
Nurse's Station and asks Amy for a glass of water. Audrey just watches
her. Felicia leaves and Audrey tells Amy that Tom and Felicia are an
item, and Tommy saw them kissing.

At Kelly's Lois tells Brenda about the various childbirth methods she's
been reading about. As Lois goes on, Brenda is deep in thought. Lois
gets her attention, and Brenda gives her some presents she bought for
the baby - booties and a book, "The Secret Garden." Lois finds the
gifts a bit peculiar - one for an infant and one for an adolescent.
Lois says, "I hope you're sticking around for the stages in between."

Sonny is at the docks and is thinking about Lily's news. A little kid,
who just happens to be named Michael, is there crying. Sonny asks
what’s wrong and the child says that he lost his father. The voice of
the child's mother is heard calling her son, and the child goes off.

Lois notices that Brenda is acting nervous and jumpy and asks if Jax is
back in town. Brenda doesn't know, and Lois asks her how she's going to
answer Jax's proposal. Again, Brenda says she doesn't know. Brenda's
cel phone rings. She has a very short conversation, hangs up, and tells
Lois she has to go.

Carly enters the record's room and discovers a guy already at the
computer. She strikes up a conversation with him, then fakes a diabetic
attack so that they guy will leave to go to get her some orange juice.
When he leaves, she sits down at the computer, finds her high school
transcript (with not difficulty) and proceeds to change her grades.
Instead of B's and C's, she gives herself B's and A's. She saves the
changed document then deletes the original file. Right then Tony comes
in and sneaks up behind her. Unfortunately, he didn't see what she was
doing. He was looking for the guy that had been there - he was
preparing a report for him. Carly says he just stepped out and said
he'd be back in a minute. Tony is going to the HMO meeting and invites
Carly to the meeting.

Alan, Monica, Bobbie, Tony, Kevin, Dorman, and Audrey are at the HMO
meeting. Tony brings up Dorman's reluctance to treat Stone's Aids and
presents the disadvantages of an HMO. Monica wants to hear some
advantages and asks Dorman for his opinion. After he finishes, she says
he made "an excellent point." Alan looks disgusted.

Brenda meets Sonny at the docks. She immediately notices something is
wrong.

Lily comes downstairs and finds Sonny gone. She makes a phone call and
says, "it's me. I really need your help." She hangs up, takes off her
rings, and puts them on the piano next to the picture of her and Sonny.

Lois is at the hospital waiting for her appointment. Lucy comes by and
rambles about pregnancy, how terrible she looked when she was pregnant,
and how good Lois looks. Lucy says she has a favor to ask regarding the
Nurse's Ball. She wants Eddie Maine & The Idle Rich to perform and she
wants Lois to ask them.

Felicia comes back to the Nurse's Station and she and Audrey are
discussing how the children are doing after the flower incident. Audrey
invites Felicia to dinner that night.

Bobbie tells Carly her application is all in order and she is officially
a candidate for the nursing program. Carly indicates that money may be
a problem, but she'll deal with that if she's accepted.

Kevin and Lucy are sitting at a table outside at Kelly's. Kevin is
going on about Dorman's attitudes on health care that came out in the
HMO meeting. Lucy tells him he needs a course in stress management.
She tells him to take it easy; he can't shoulder the weight of the
entire hospital. Kevin asks, "who will be my teacher?" and Lucy
replies, "I will." She's an expert in the art of relaxation. She's
going to practice an "ancient ritual" on him, but ancient rituals aren't
his style. "OK, think of it as an adventure," she tells him. She tells
him to look up at the moon and really focus on it. (At this point the
viewers are shown a picture of a full moon.) She wants him to breath in
it's light. He's confused, but she explains that "you have to breath in
the light." She wants him to repeat "I will not hurry the moment." He
says, "I can't do that Lucy. I feel like a fool." He tells her "no
incantation." She has him put his arms around her real tight and says
she'll do it for him. "I'm going to let all my cares fall away. I'm
going to savor every moment, and I'm going to be here in the present
with the woman that I love," she says for him. They look into each
other's eyes and smile.

Sonny tells Brenda, "she's pregnant."
