Subject: GH: Update for Fri 05/24/96 Sent: 5/26/96 8:51 PM From: John Andrews, jandrews@uic.edu GH Update for 05/24/96 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 At home, Lily and Sonny awkwardly banter about very little. "I'm sorry," she says finally. "For what?" he asks. Scene 2 Robin waits by the phone and recalls her recent time with Jason. Meanwhile, he does the same. At last, he calls her to her delight. Scene 3 Back at court, ADA Goldilocks claims she has important new evidence that can narrow the time of Damian's death to a ten minute window based on an analysis of the phone answering machine tape recovered from the Ward House. Justus strongly objects, so the judge agrees to hear the testimony in chambers first. Scene 4 Jason and Robin chat on the phone about Laura's trial and then agree to meet later. Scene 5 Since Lily is still being remote and unresponsive, Sonny begs her to tell him what's wrong, and what's he done [duh, other than have the hots for some other woman]. She tells him she always used to see couples together that had a facade of happiness but had no communication or tenderness, and she wondered how they did it and why the woman just didn't leave; now she knows. Scene 6 Brenda helps Robin dress up to see Jason. Scene 7 The audio tape has a time stamp which allegedly shows that Damian was alive at 10:04pm while the coroner puts the time of death before 10:18pm, leaving a very short window. The prosecutor contends that only Laura had the opportunity in that time period; however, in cross-examination, Justus gets the expert to say that the phone ringer could have been turned off or the answering machine clock might have been set wrong. Scene 8 The prosecution rests, and court adjourns. Luke eyes Edward slinking around the back of the courtroom and questions Justus about the status of the trial. Justus promises him that Laura will never serve a day in prison. Scene 9 Lily goes to see Alan about feeling tired and queasy [well, we all know what that means in a soap]. Scene 10 Robin meets Jason on the docks; they banter mindlessly about where to go and what to do. Scene 11 Luke expresses his angst to Sonny over Laura's predicament. Sonny says he's trying to help, but no one knows anything about who killed Damian. They briefly talk about Lily. Scene 12 Garcia talks to some guy (the M.E.?) about Harper, whose drowned body has been found. Edward overhears Garcia say they were going to search the area for other clues, and Edward presumably fears they'll find the video type. As Edward leaves, Luke follows. Scene 13 Sonny calls Brenda and asks her to meet him. Scene 14 Jason breaks into his old home, the box car as the place to have their date, but Robin throws a fit saying, "I'm an Emmy winner. I don't do box cars." Scene 15 Edward roams the docks thinking about the video tape he pushed into the river. Luke still follows unseen. Looking down into the river, Luke appears to see something. "Oh, God," he yells, "a hideous decomposing body," but then realizes it's just his own reflection. Scene 16 Brenda meets Sonny. She says she shouldn't be there; it's not good for her. They both agree that they can't do this anymore. Sonny says he seems to hurt everyone and hates that. Brenda suggests that she move to LA or NY, but he disagrees, and they embrace briefly. He tells her he knows the way out, and he's taking it - her. Scene 17 More Jason and Robin about memories and new personalities. They smooch then head for the horizontal. Scene 18 Luke retrieves a seaweed entangled video tape from the river. Scene 19 Sonny tells Brenda his marriage is over, and he's going to leave Lily. Brenda is giddy with joy, and they make all sorts of irrational promises [jeez, don't they realize it's a soap, and they're doomed]. Scene 20 Alan calls Lily and tells her she's ... PREGNANT!
