Monica Has a Surprise Birthday Party ... Edward is Merely Surprised!
==========================================================================
At the Q mansion, Bobbie introduces Carly to Edward; she explains that
Carly is supposed to divert Monica's attention away from the Q mansion
while Bobbie and Company arrange for Monica's surprise birthday party.
Carly gushes about the house then Edward and Alan start to wrangle
about how dumb it was of Alan to give Monica title to the house.  Edward,
charmed by Carly, gives her a quick tour of the manse.  Later on, guests
start to trickle in.  Edward starts in again, quacking at Lois about the
future of his great-grandchild.  A.J. wanders in and talks to Lois.  He
tells her he's had 5 weeks of sobriety and she congratulates him.  He says
the sobriety is due to Keesha's influence.  Edward makes a pre-party toast
to the newest Quartermaine baby and announces that he's contacted his old
buddies at Harvard, Yale and Princeton on behalf of the fetus. Alan, who
has been peeking out the window, announces that Monica has arrived.
Everybody jumps out and yells "Surprise!"  Of course, Carly arrives with
her and is invited to stay for the party, in fact Monica insists.  Carly
gloms onto A.J. who blabs about how upset Monica is about JasonBorg.
Carly pumps A.J. for information about the late B.J.  The party is
interrupted when a stranger arrives at the door asking for Edward.  Eddie
greets the guy, who he's never seen before, and the guy hands him a video
tape.  It's Harper who has the tape; his son videotaped "something you'll
be interested to see!"  Harper leaves him the tape and says that Edward
will be hearing from him.  Emily comes up then and asks if Edward knows
Harper. Then Emily explains about how Harper had his guys beat up Lucky
when the kid owed him money.  Edward shines her on and asks what some
two-bit hood would be doing contacting the great Edward Q?  He excuses
himself then and says he's got "something to do" [like watch a tape].
Meanwhile, Monica is opening her presents and everybody is "oohing" and
"aahing" at her loot.  The crowd gets kind of quiet, however, when Monica
opens the present from her Secret Admirer...
Carly beams when Tony tells her that Lucas has a big-time crush on her.
Bobbie comes up and thanks Carly; she tells her it meant a lot to Monica
to have her there.  Then Carly tells Bobbie that she is just what Carly
aspires to be [ex 'ho?, cuckolder of husbands?, thief?].  Bobbie promises
to help Carly become just as pathetic as she is.  Edward sneaks off to
look at the videotape and it showed Justus going in and out of a door.

Justus Drags his Feet ... Luke's Getting Suspicious

Justus joins Luke for a talk about Edward Quartermaine and his motives for
wanting Damian dead.  Luke claims that Edward is "hip-deep in the murder"
and tells Justus about Edward showing up at the Spencer house on the night
of Damian's death.  Then Luke points out that Edward arranged for Laura's
first attorney, etc., and WHY??  Justus asks if Luke is saying that Edward
killed Damian; Luke says that he probably didn't kill Damian but he must
know a lot more than he's saying and maybe he hired the guy to do it.
Luke asks Justus to "work on" Edward and find out what he's holding back.
Luke gets annoyed when Justus doesn't leap at the chance to grill Edward.

We're Havin' a Heat Wave ... a Canadian Heat Wave!

At the cabin, Brenda awakens and Sonny is gone.  No, he hasn't regained his
senses and started out for the ski lodge, he was outside checking the storm
damage. The blizzard has finally stopped but the bad news is that they're
out of food and firewood, and are completely snowed in.  Up at the ski hut
Brenda points out to Sonny that they could now snow down the mountain.

Down at the ski lodge, a frantic Lily is on the phone to Jax.  She explains
that Brenda turned up missing after an avalanche.  "I'm on my way" says the
manly Aussie.  Then Lily gets on the horn to Harry and explains the whole
scenario to him.  A sympathetic Harry  offers to come up and help but she
declines his offer and tells him she's just worried about Sonny but isn't
panicking yet.  Before long Jax arrives and Lily fills him in.  As he
hurries away she tells him that Sonny is out there, too, and after Sonny
left there was another avalanche.  Lily starts to get slightly hysterical
and Jax tries to calm her down.  He has a helicopter and Lily insists on
accompanying him during the search.

Brenda sort of half-heartedly urges Sonny to leave her and try to get to
the lodge (she's got a hurt ankle, remember).  He says he's staying; she
admits she's glad she won't be alone because she's frightened.  He sits
down with her and, in an attempt to divert her attention from their
situation, turns the talk to the good times they had in Puerto Rico.  Soon
the talk turns to how hot and steamy and sexy things were in PR; they hug
quietly.  Brenda whispers to him that she needs to know the truth about one
thing.  She wants to know why Sonny told her he loved her.  He said it was
a mistake to tell her that when he couldn't act on it.  He says their
relationship was doomed; their love was too hot not to cool down [gack!].
Then they share a long kiss [dum-da-dum-dum].  They start to bicker again
when Brenda pushes him to commit more to her and to explain about why he
married Lily.  He sputters around, trying not to spill the beans about the
deal he made with Papa Rivera [it's still a big secret, remember?]. Brenda
claims all she needs is for him to forgive her about wearing the wire.  He
says he can't keep pretending he doesn't want her.  They melt together,
all but oblivious to the beat of the helicopter blades outside.
