                            GH Update for 04/26/96
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

At the ski resort, Brenda inquires at the front desk about avalanche warnings.
The desk clerk says they can ski without fear. Meanwhile, Sonny is informed
that he can't fly out because the airport is closed.
Scene 1
A disheveled looking Justus gets a visit from Simone.
Scene 2
At the PC jail, Luke blabbers to Laura about LouLou and assures her he'll get
her out soon.
Scene 3
ADA Dara Jensen informs Garcia that the Grand Jury is about to hand down an
indictment of Laura Spencer.
Scene 4
More Luke and Laura banter.
Scene 5
Simone asks Justus what's wrong and expresses her belief that Laura will be
acquitted, but Justus isn't so sure. Simone wants to know why he isn't
defending her. He defensively snaps that he's damaged goods, and she's better
off with another lawyer. He is very pessimistic saying all his losses recently
have added up. She tries to give him support and encouragement.
Scene 6
Brenda approaches Sonny and says she wants to apologize and will be skiing all
day so she won't be in his way. Sonny says no matter since he and Lily will be
out of there ASAP. After he leaves, Brenda hooks up with a group of skiers and
heads out. [I thought the short sleeve shirt was a nice bit of cold weather
apparel]
Scene 7
Laura's "mouthpiece" tells her she's being indicted for first degree
manslaughter. The hot shot suggests they plea bargain to assault. She says
forget it; she's innocent.
Scene 8
Garcia gets a call and tells the ADA it was Veronica Bowles of "Around PC", and
they may have more evidence against Laura.
Scene 9
Sonny tells Lily they're stuck for a while. She says it's no problem as long as
they are together. She suggests they head somewhere sunny. Just then, they're
informed that the airport is open. Lily tells him that there is still a
problem when they get home. He assures her again that Brenda is just a
nuisance and not a problem.
Scene 10
Brenda pauses and separates from the ski group then checks what looks like a
map.
Scene 11
As Sonny and Lily prepare to depart, they overhear the desk clerk telling a
group of people that an avalanche occurred, but he is sure no one was near the
area. Several people point out one of the ski groups went near there (Brenda's,
of course). Just then, someone rushes in and announces that another slide has
occurred, and rescue parties are headed to the area. Sonny and Lily exchange
worried looks.
Scene 12
A cleaned up Justus gets ready to go to court for Laura's hearing. Simone says
she'll go with him. She makes an emotional speech about how confusing their
past has been and how she still loves him and wants to help. He says if she
really wants to help, marry him. [Hmm, wait, I don't recall that being the
right guy's line. Isn't it if you really love me you'll, well, you know]
Scene 13
The so-called lawyer advises Laura to plead to a lesser charge or risk getting
6-25 years. When she protests she's innocent, He says it doesn't really matter
whether she's guilty or innocent [at least not if you're in LA, that is]. Luke
angrily tells him thanks but no thanks, and this case is going to be fought to
the end.
Scene 14
Veronica Bowles gives Garcia a videotape showing Laura and Damian arguing at
Luke's Place where a furious Laura attacks Damian with a bat and has to be
restrained by Luke; however, she does give Damian a punch. After viewing the
tape, ADA Jensen says she must go back to the Grand Jury since now Laura may be
up for much more than manslaughter.
Scene 15
Simone tells Justus that she never said she wouldn't marry him, but just now he
shouldn't make that kind of decision. She assures him she'll be right with him,
and after the trial he should ask again.
Scene 16
The desk clerk tells Lily that Brenda was in the ski group. When she tells
Sonny, he says Brenda probably didn't listen to the ski group leader, but she's
not his responsibility. Lily, however, cancels their car and says they'll be
staying a while longer.
Scene 17
In his plane, Jax flashes back to his recent travels with Brenda, then
presumably turns his plane around.
Scene 18
At court, Luke tells Justus the lawyer wanted to plead guilty. Just then,
Edward Q buttonholes Justus and tries to get him to leave, but Justus says it
would be much more suspicious if he weren't there.
Scene 19
Sonny wants to know why they didn't leave, and Lily says Brenda is in trouble,
and you're concerned. "You're ok with that?" he asks. "It doesn't matter," she
replies, "it just is." As Lily comments that Brenda will be ok, a ski patrol
member asks if any one has seen Brenda Barrett who got separated from the
group. Sonny tells Lily he has to go look for her; Lily says ok, but be
careful.
Scene 20
Meanwhile, Brenda, perfectly fine, sits waiting (presumably to be found) and
flashes back to romantic escapades of her and Sonny. However, it soon begins
to snow, and she becomes increasingly cold.
Scene 21
The hearing comes to order, and the judge announces that Laura has been
indicted for second degree murder.
