Subject: Sent: 4/17/96 6:48 PM From: Jan Yarnot, jyarnot@netcom.com Well, we said "Da Svidanya" to the Russians yesterday, so it's time for the VERY LATE UPDATE, April 4. SONNY LOVES ME, I KNOW HE LOVES ME, HE TOLD ME HE LOVED ME... In a most confusing scene, Sonny is holding Brenda's hand when her alarm goes off. This being ICU, of course no one comes, Sonny runs to the door shouting for help, closes the door again, and runs back to Brenda. He again grabs her hand and tells her how he loves her. Brenda leaves her body and looks back at Sonny and Brenda's corpse, and comes back. She flickers her eyelids, and Sonny hugs her and tells her he loves her. He was afraid he'd lost her. She murmurs "You'll never lose me, Sonny." [Promise or threat? You be the judge.] Sonny kisses her. Brenda smiles, murmurs "Sonny?" and we see Jax saying "Brenda?" while he holds her hand. "No, it's me, Jax. You must have been dreaming." She says her pain medicines are giving her these intense dreams. She just wishes she could stay in them. A nurse brings in more flowers. Brenda is thrilled, Jax is spoiling her. Then in bubbles Lucy. "My face, my gorgeous irreplaceable face!" Lucy is relieved that Brenda's injuries are all internal. Brenda explains to Jax that Lucy is "kinda psychic." He says that must be helpful and Lucy starts up, but is interrupted by Lois' arrival. Jax and Lucy leave and Brenda and Lois share a giggle about Lucy's hair (a French roll, is what we called it in the Dark Ages. It looks great from the rear, but has a few strange views frontwise.) Lois is pleased that Jax has been so attentive, and Brenda says they're just very good friends. (Sonny loves me, I know he loves me...) Lois has remembered to water the plants, and Brenda says she'd rather the plants were DEAD if only Ned and Lois were back together. [This is why I'm The Defender of the Houseplants: I certainly have been busy the last couple of weeks!] Lois, however, is still reeling from being called an Outsider. Brenda reminds her of what she's learned... tomorrow is a promise. Ned shows up, and this will be described in a later paragraph. Robin visits. Brenda sounds very good. Robin says "Some People don't realize every single day is a gift." Brenda dozes off. At the end of the show, in the "We Belong" montage, Sonny peeks in the window and sees Brenda and Jax having a laugh together. YOU'RE SO LUCKY, AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT %, the Quartermaine Formerly Known as Jason, is working at the docks when he spies Robin. "What were you," he asks, "a bloodhound in another life?" Turns out he's not really upset: she tells him she found him "I sorta got it out of Luke." Morgan (his name now) wants to know if it was Inept Edward parking cars who hit Brenda. No, it was a "drunk driver". [Yeah, right] Robin gives Morgan a hardhat. He won't wear it. In the biggest suspension of disbelief of the week, he says the people at the docks want him to wear one, but they will let him work without it. Yeah, sure. A foreman yells, "Hey Morgan, get to work" and Robin is surprised by the new name, but she says it suits him. He says thanks. At his break, 15 minutes later, she asks him "what's the plan?" He says "This." He likes the job, it pays his way and he doesn't have to think. He says "Planning for the future is pointless." Just then a forklift comes by, and Robin runs, while Morgan just sits there. Robin says she doesn't like his "bizarre deathwish.... You're so lucky. And you don't even know it." She leaves. At the end of the day, Morgan takes the hard hat with him, ignoring the "We Belong" in the background. POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL Katherine is moving into a penthouse apartment across the hall from Sonny. Mac comes in, worried that she's not all right, but when he sees what's going on, he's appalled by the conspicuous consumption. He hadn't planned on moving in with Katherine until Robin went to college. And he certainly doesn't want to live across the hall from Sonny. He takes off with his coffee cup. At the police station, Mac tells Garcia that he was right about the police commissioner, who is corrupt. Garcia admits he'd brought Katherine in, and Mac erupts. Meanwhile, Katherine, alone with her boxes, has flashbacks of herself with Mac. She goes to see Edward. She wants financial advice. What she wants MOST is respect. Back at the Penthouse, Katherine finds Mac, who seems to have taken a key with the coffee mug. He thinks he may have overreacted, and has made himself at home. During the "We Belong" montage, they start to get steamy. I figure Mac better get stocked up now, so when the Inevitable Breakup occurs he will have some good memories. MIRROR, MIRROR Ned is staring out the window when Edward comes in, storming and huffing about Deception. He's gloating about selling to Lucy, getting the ELQ stock back, and notices that Ned isn't hearing him. "I can tell you what the problem is in a nutshell. You are too damn stubborn and prideful for your own good." [Pot. Kettle. Black.] "No amount of being able to say you were right is worth permanent estrangement from the woman you love.... Go get your wife and bring her back home." So Ned goes to the hospital and overhears Lois and Brenda. He goes into the room and Lois leaves. Brenda sends Ned after her. Lois is sitting with what we can hope is herbal tea, or perhaps her last coffee for months, and Ned goes to her. They talk. Same old argument. She doesn't think talking will help. She asks him to stay out of the Gatehouse while she's picking up some of her things. During the ironic "We Belong" montage, Ned and Edward are mirroring each other with their papers, their drinks. Lois, the outsider, peers in the window. KEVIN AS SUSPECT At the hospital, Jax and Lucy are talking about merging Jax Cosmetics and Deception. Lucy, of course, sees herself as CEO. Jax wants to be kept hidden in the talks with Edward. Kevin walks past, and Lucy says she has to do some damage control. Kevin is on his way to the police station, where he will be questioned in the Room Which is Open To All. Kevin confronts Garcia. Mac says he will personally vouch for Kevin (like this is a great recommendation?) Lucy offers her services free of charge and Garcia hopes this is not a bribe or a solicitation. "In Your Dreams!" sniffs Lucy. She means her psychic services, but PC is so hopelessly behind the times that they aren't up on all these latest advances. She points out that after all SHE found Damian. Kevin, who has watched this rather bemusedly, points out that he can speak for himself. Lucy and Mac go outside and watch through the one-way glass while Kevein makes mincemeat of Garcia and his lame theory #306. Kevin admits to killing Damian in the Lighthouse and instead of dumping the body in the Lake (Ontario, right?), taking it to Ward House, where he's never been before. "Call me crazy, but I thought it would be more entertaining to drag the body to Ward House." Later, during the "We Belong" montage, they walk home arm-in-arm, with occasional stops for kisses.
